A Hyundai Bayon warning light that appears briefly when you switch the vehicle on is often part of the normal bulb and system self-check. A light that stays on after the engine starts, appears while driving, flashes repeatedly, or is accompanied by a message needs attention. The correct meaning depends on your Bayon’s model year, market, engine and fitted equipment, so identify the exact symbol in the owner’s manual for your vehicle before deciding how far to drive.
Some warnings require you to stop and switch off immediately; others allow careful travel to a safe place or a repairer. The symbol itself, the accompanying text and the vehicle’s behavior matter more than color alone.

What to do as soon as a Bayon warning light appears
- Notice when it appeared. If it lit only during the ignition-on self-check and went out after the engine started, that may be normal. If it remains on, returns while driving or flashes, treat it as an active warning.
- Read the message display. Stop operating secondary controls while moving and check the instrument-cluster message when it is safe. A text message can identify a system or tell you to inspect a condition.
- Keep control of the car first. If steering, braking, tire stability, engine noise or temperature changes, reduce speed smoothly and move to a safe location before diagnosing anything.
- Match the symbol to the correct manual. Use the owner’s manual for the exact Bayon year and market. Hyundai’s UK manual index lists a Bayon manual covering 2021-present, while equipment and descriptions can differ between markets and editions.
- Choose the least risky option. Some faults call for stopping as soon as safely possible, some require recovery rather than driving, and others call for prompt inspection while the car remains usable.
Do not assume every illuminated icon means the same level of danger. An indicator can show that a system is operating normally, whereas a warning can report low fluid, a malfunction or an unsafe condition. Color is only a broad visual cue; follow the symbol and manual instructions.
Startup self-check versus a warning that remains on
When the ignition is switched on, several lamps may illuminate briefly so the vehicle can show that the indicators and control systems have performed their initial check. Hyundai manuals describe this temporary illumination as normal for some lights. After the engine starts, the lamps should go out unless the system is reporting a condition that still needs attention.

If the light goes out
A lamp that appears only for the self-check and then disappears generally does not require an emergency stop. If you do not recognize it, identify it in your manual at the next safe opportunity. Do not rely on a quick flash as proof that a system is healthy in every respect; the manual remains the definitive explanation for your vehicle.
If the light stays on or returns
A persistent or recurring warning is not a self-check. Note whether it is steady or flashing, record any text message, and look for changes in braking, steering, engine operation or tire behavior. A flashing lamp can indicate a more immediate fault, but the exact action still depends on the Bayon symbol and manual.
Bayon warnings that can require immediate action
The table below uses official Hyundai guidance for the systems covered. The precise icon and wording can vary by Bayon market, year and equipment. “Drive only to safety” means travel the shortest practical distance at reduced risk; it is not permission to continue a normal journey.

| Engine oil pressure | Oil pressure is too low. | It may illuminate during the initial check, but it should go out after the engine starts. | Stop in a safe place and switch the engine off. Check the oil level on level ground using the procedure in your manual. Add the specified oil if the level is low. | No if it remains on, returns, or the correct oil is unavailable. Arrange authorized inspection; continued running can cause severe engine damage or engine failure. |
| Brake system or brake fluid | The parking brake may be applied, or brake-fluid level may be low when the parking brake is released. | It can appear during the self-check. | Release the parking brake fully. If the lamp remains on, stop safely and have the brake system inspected. Look for a fluid leak without touching hot components. | Do not drive if a leak is found, the warning remains on with the parking brake released, or the brake pedal feels abnormal or the brakes do not work correctly. |
| ABS together with the brake warning | Hyundai warns that normal braking may not be available when both warnings remain illuminated. | Both may appear briefly during the check. | Avoid high speed and abrupt braking. Leave extra distance and arrange prompt inspection at a safe location. | Only move cautiously to safety if the car still brakes normally and the route is very short. Stop and arrange recovery if braking feels different or unsafe. |
| TPMS / low tire pressure | One or more tires is significantly underinflated. A repeated blinking pattern can indicate a TPMS malfunction rather than simple low pressure. | The lamp may appear during the system check. | Check the indicated tire pressure with a reliable gauge and inspect every tire for punctures, cuts, bulges or other damage. Inflate to the pressure listed for your Bayon, not a generic value. | If the car feels unstable, ease off the accelerator, brake gradually and move slowly to a safe place. Do not continue with a damaged or visibly flat tire. |
| Charging system | The charging system may not be maintaining the battery correctly. | It may illuminate briefly at startup. | Drive carefully only far enough to reach a safe location, then switch the engine off and follow the manual’s checks. Arrange inspection if the light remains on. | Do not plan a long trip with a persistent charging warning; the engine may stop once the battery is depleted. |
Engine oil-pressure warning: stop the engine
The Bayon BC3 CUV PE owner’s manual states that the oil-pressure warning illuminates when engine oil pressure is low. This is different from a routine maintenance reminder. Oil pressure protects moving engine parts; continuing to run the engine with inadequate pressure can cause severe damage or failure.
- Reduce speed and pull off the road where you can stop safely.
- Switch the engine off as soon as you are safely stationary.
- Wait as specified by the manual, then check the oil level on level ground.
- Add the correct oil if the level is below the permitted range. Do not overfill.
- Restart only if the manual permits and the warning has gone out. If it remains on, returns, the engine makes unusual noise, or you cannot obtain the correct oil, switch off and arrange authorized inspection or recovery.
Do not drive to a service station simply because the car still seems to run. The warning concerns pressure, not merely the amount of oil in the sump, and adding oil cannot repair a failed pump, blocked passage or leak.
Brake and brake-fluid warnings
A brake warning with the parking brake released can indicate low brake fluid. Low fluid may result from a leak or from brake-pad wear, and both require inspection. Check that the parking brake is completely released, then treat a lamp that remains illuminated as a brake-system issue.

When not to drive
- The brake warning remains on after the parking brake is released.
- You see fluid leaking near a wheel or under the vehicle.
- The pedal feels soft, sinks, requires unusual travel or the car pulls while braking.
- Braking power is reduced, or the ABS and brake warnings remain on together.
In these circumstances, stop in a safe place and arrange recovery or professional inspection rather than attempting to reach a workshop under your own power. Never top up with an unspecified fluid; use only the fluid and procedure identified for your Bayon.
ABS and brake warnings together
Hyundai’s warning guidance says that simultaneous ABS and parking-brake warnings can mean braking will not operate normally. If the vehicle still responds predictably, avoid high speed, hard pedal applications and sudden maneuvers while arranging prompt inspection. If braking is abnormal, do not continue driving.
TPMS and tire-pressure warnings
A steady low-pressure warning means one or more tires is significantly underinflated. Stop where safe, check all tires and compare their readings with the pressure label and manual for your Bayon. A warning may remain until the pressure is corrected and the car has been driven in the conditions required by its system.

Inspect as well as inflate
Pressure alone does not establish that a tire is safe. Look for a nail, screw, sidewall cut, bulge, separated tread or a valve problem. A tire that loses pressure again after inflation needs professional inspection. Do not drive on a visibly damaged or flat tire.
When the TPMS light flashes
Hyundai describes a repeated blink pattern as a possible TPMS malfunction. Check pressure manually, because a gauge can measure inflation but cannot diagnose a failed sensor, wiring fault or damaged tire. If pressures are correct and the light continues to blink or returns, have the system checked.
TPMS cannot alert you to every severe, sudden tire failure. If the Bayon feels unstable, ease off the accelerator, brake gradually and move to a safe place; avoid sharp steering inputs.

Charging-system warning
A charging warning can mean the alternator, battery, belt, wiring or another part of the charging system is not operating correctly. Hyundai guidance is to drive carefully to a safe location, stop, switch off and check the system according to the applicable manual. If the light remains lit, arrange inspection.
Turn off nonessential electrical loads only after stopping safely and only if the manual allows. Do not keep driving until the battery is exhausted: the engine and safety systems may stop functioning, and a belt problem can cause additional damage on some engines. The exact Bayon-market checks and belt arrangement must be confirmed in your own manual.
Other Bayon symbols: identify before interpreting
Bayons can be fitted with different engines, driver-assistance features and equipment. Symbols for engine or emissions control, airbags, electronic stability control, steering assistance, lane systems and other functions therefore cannot be assigned one universal Bayon meaning from a different Hyundai model’s warning page.

- Photograph the icon and any message when the vehicle is safely stopped.
- Use the warning-light and indicator section of the correct owner’s manual.
- Check whether the manual classifies it as an indicator, a warning, a flashing fault or a “stop” condition.
- Observe whether the vehicle has changed behavior, but do not deliberately test a suspected safety-system failure.
- Contact an authorized Hyundai repairer when the manual directs inspection or the warning does not clear.
Hyundai’s 2025 warning-light guidance is useful for general brake, ABS, TPMS and charging-system advice, but its vehicle code is not established here as the Bayon. Hyundai USA’s warning guidance is likewise general brand information, not a complete Bayon symbol catalog. Use those principles alongside—not instead of—the manual for your car.
How to decide whether you can drive
| Situation | Safest decision | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Light appears during startup and goes out; no message or abnormal behavior | Continue normally, then identify it in the manual if unfamiliar. | This is consistent with a normal self-check, although the manual remains authoritative. |
| Persistent warning but the car behaves normally and the manual allows travel | Drive carefully to a safe place or repairer, avoiding unnecessary distance. | A fault may worsen even when symptoms are not yet obvious. |
| Oil-pressure warning remains on or returns | Stop, switch off and arrange inspection or recovery. | Continued operation risks severe engine damage. |
| Brake warning with released parking brake, brake leak, abnormal pedal or ABS plus brake warnings | Do not undertake a normal journey; arrange professional help. | Braking performance may be reduced or unpredictable. |
| TPMS warning with unstable handling or visible tire damage | Slow gradually to safety and stop; repair or replace the tire. | TPMS cannot guarantee detection of sudden or structural tire failure. |
| Charging warning remains on | Reach a safe location, switch off and arrange inspection. | The vehicle can lose electrical power and stop. |
What information to give a repairer
- Bayon model year, market, engine and approximate mileage.
- The exact symbol, whether it was steady or flashing, and how long it remained illuminated.
- Any text message, warning chime or recent work.
- Oil level, tire-pressure readings, visible damage or fluid leaks, if checked safely.
- Changes in braking, steering, engine sound, temperature, power or electrical equipment.
Clear details help the repairer distinguish a low fluid or pressure condition from a sensor or control-system fault. Do not erase a warning or disconnect the battery merely to make the lamp disappear unless a qualified technician instructs you; doing so can remove useful diagnostic information.
Bottom line
Use the exact Bayon owner’s manual to identify the symbol, and separate a brief startup self-check from a lamp that remains on. Stop and switch off for an oil-pressure warning; treat persistent brake, abnormal braking, tire damage and charging warnings as safety issues rather than routine reminders. When the manual or the vehicle’s behavior leaves doubt, choose a safe stop and professional inspection over continuing the journey.
