The Creta counters with a larger cabin and more cargo capacity in the cited Indonesian data. This is not a same-country, same-trim test: Bayon and Creta specifications, model years, equipment and measurement conventions vary by market. Check the exact local versions before buying.
The short answer
Choose the Bayon when your priority is the smallest possible footprint for parallel parking, multi-storey garages and congested side streets. Hyundai UK lists the referenced Bayon at 4,180 mm long and 1,775 mm wide, with a 5.2 m turning circle. Hyundai India lists the referenced Creta at 4,330 mm long and 1,790 mm wide, making it 150 mm longer and 15 mm wider in those cited specifications.

Choose the Creta when you regularly carry adults, luggage or shopping and can accept a larger vehicle. Hyundai UK quotes 411 litres of Bayon boot space, while Hyundai Indonesia’s January 2025 Creta leaflet quotes 433 litres with the seats in the normal position and 1,401 litres maximum. Those figures come from different countries and may use different test methods, so they indicate the packaging difference rather than a controlled laboratory comparison.

Automatic-transmission availability and driver-assistance equipment also depend on the market and trim.

Why country and model year change the result
The Bayon is primarily documented here through Hyundai’s European and UK material, while the Creta figures come from Hyundai India, Hyundai Indonesia and a 2025 Middle East brochure. Hyundai does not sell one globally identical specification under either name. Engines, gearboxes, dimensions, safety systems, seating layouts and even the way turning space is reported can change between countries.
For example, the UK technical sheet describes a Bayon specification with a 4,180 mm body length and 1,775 mm width. A separate Hyundai UK page for an “all-new Bayon” gives projected dimensions of 4,245 × 1,810 × 1,570 mm, a 2,600 mm wheelbase and projected 440-litre luggage capacity, while stating that technical data and the range were pending final homologation. Those projected figures must not be mixed with the 4,180 mm and 411-litre figures when comparing cars.
The Creta’s cited dimensions are more consistent across the India and Middle East material—4,330 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,635 mm high—but the Indonesian leaflet describes a particular January 2025 specification with its own engine outputs and cargo data. Treat every number below as belonging to the named market and date, not as a promise for a vehicle sold elsewhere.
At-a-glance city-driving comparison
| City-use measure | Hyundai Bayon | Hyundai Creta | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Length | 4,180 mm in the cited Hyundai UK technical specification | 4,330 mm on Hyundai India’s highlights page; also listed in the 2025 Middle East brochure | The cited Bayon is 150 mm shorter, which can help when a parking space is only marginally longer than the car. |
| Width | 1,775 mm, Hyundai UK specification | 1,790 mm, Hyundai India and Middle East specifications | The cited Bayon is 15 mm narrower before accounting for mirrors, tyre choice or door-opening clearance. |
| Turning measurement | 5.2 m turning circle, Hyundai UK technical specification | 5.4 m minimum turning radius, Hyundai Indonesia leaflet, data per January 2025 | The labels are not identical, so this suggests rather than proves a Bayon advantage. Confirm the local manufacturer’s convention. |
| Boot/cargo volume | 411 litres, Hyundai UK | 433 litres minimum and 1,401 litres maximum, Hyundai Indonesia leaflet, January 2025 | The Creta has the larger cited capacity, but seat position and measurement method differ. |
| Bayon powertrains documented here | 1.0-litre T-GDi and 1.2-litre MPi; six-speed manual and specified seven-speed dual-clutch versions in Europe | Not applicable | Exact combinations are market-specific. |
| Creta powertrains documented here | Not applicable | India: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. Indonesia leaflet: 115 PS naturally aspirated petrol and 160 PS turbo petrol | Engine names and outputs in one country do not establish the lineup in another. |
| Published fuel-economy evidence | Combined WLTP: 5.7–5.4 l/100 km with 1.0 T-GDi 100 PS and six-speed manual; 6.7–6.2 l/100 km with the seven-speed DCT | No comparable city or equivalent combined figure in the reviewed official material | Do not use the Bayon’s combined test result to declare a city-running-cost winner. |
Which is easier to park?
The Bayon’s footprint advantage
In the cited UK and Indian dimensions, the Bayon occupies less road and parking-bay length: 4,180 mm versus 4,330 mm, and 1,775 mm versus 1,790 mm. A 150 mm reduction in length can be useful when a parking space is tight at both ends; 15 mm less body width is modest but may provide a little more door clearance in a narrow garage.

Those are body measurements, not mirror-to-mirror clearances. Wheel design, tyre width, mirror size and the space needed to open a door can matter more than a few millimetres on a specification sheet. Before ordering, measure your own garage or regular parking bay and include the mirror width and a safe walkway.
Turning-circle terminology needs caution
Hyundai UK lists a 5.2 m turning circle for the referenced Bayon. Hyundai Indonesia’s January 2025 Creta leaflet lists a 5.4 m minimum turning radius. “Turning circle” and “turning radius” are different labels, and manufacturers do not always describe the same kerb-to-kerb or wall-to-wall convention. It is therefore unsafe to subtract one number from the other or to interpret the 0.2 m difference as a measured advantage.
As directional evidence, the cited figures point toward the Bayon needing slightly less turning space, but the conclusion should be confirmed with the local technical sheet or a dealer demonstration. If your decision hinges on a particularly difficult ramp or U-turn, drive both cars through that exact manoeuvre rather than relying on the brochure labels.
Parking aids can outweigh a small size difference
Hyundai Europe describes Bayon city-oriented equipment including an alert that warns when the vehicle ahead moves away from a stop and reverse parking collision-avoidance assistance. Hyundai India describes Creta SmartSense functions including forward-collision avoidance, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe-exit warning, high-beam assist and driver-attention warning.

These descriptions do not establish that every Bayon or Creta has every function. Inclusion varies by trim, country and option package. Confirm whether the exact car has rear sensors, a reversing camera, a surround-view system, blind-spot warnings and the particular automatic braking function you want. A camera image and audible sensors can make a larger vehicle easier to place than its dimensions suggest.
Is the Bayon smaller than the Creta?
Yes, in the cited specifications. The Bayon is 4,180 mm long and 1,775 mm wide in Hyundai UK’s technical data. The Creta is 4,330 × 1,790 × 1,635 mm on Hyundai India’s highlights page. That makes the cited Bayon 150 mm shorter and 15 mm narrower. The comparison is valid only for those listed versions; the projected all-new Bayon figures of 4,245 × 1,810 × 1,570 mm describe a different, not-yet-finalized specification.
The Creta’s 2,610 mm wheelbase and 190 mm ground clearance are listed in Hyundai’s 2025 Middle East brochure. The cited UK Bayon sheet does not provide a directly comparable wheelbase in the supplied specifications. A longer wheelbase can support more passenger room, but it can also increase the space needed to turn or reverse. Do not infer interior dimensions from exterior length alone; sit in the rear seat with the front seat set for the driver who will use the car.

The Creta has the larger published figures in the material available here. Hyundai UK lists 411 litres for the Bayon. Hyundai Indonesia’s January 2025 Creta leaflet lists 433 litres minimum and 1,401 litres maximum, presumably with the rear seating folded according to the leaflet’s configuration. The minimum figures differ by 22 litres, while the maximum figure shows the Creta’s greater load-carrying potential when configured for cargo.

- Buyer's Guide: The seat guard for car seat between seat & console measures 15.75*2.7*1.53", suitable for gaps of 1.43-1.53" in width, please double-check carefully the distance between your seat and the center console before placing an order

- Avoid Items Slipping: With the bumps and vibrations of the car, phones, keys may fall into the seat crevices, which is difficult to pick up, and distracts the driver's attention. Car gap seat filler fills gaps seamlessly to create an effective barrier
- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt
- Premium Material: Crafted from premium EVA material, our car seat side gap filler boasts a combination of wear-resistant, softness&durability. Maintenance is effortless, simply rinse and wipe to quickly clean the dust and debris in corners and crevices
Do not treat those values as a controlled comparison. Manufacturers can measure to different load lines, include or exclude under-floor storage, and specify different seat positions. A family should take the actual stroller, suitcase or shopping crate to a dealer and test the loading height, hatch opening and rear-seat split. Litres do not tell you whether a tall box will fit upright or whether a bulky item can pass through the hatch opening.

Bayon engine and gearbox choices
Hyundai Europe lists a 1.0-litre T-GDi and a 1.2-litre MPi for the Bayon, with six-speed manual and specified seven-speed dual-clutch configurations. The cited 1.0 T-GDi 100 PS is listed at 5.7–5.4 l/100 km combined WLTP with the six-speed manual and 6.7–6.2 l/100 km combined WLTP with the seven-speed DCT.
A dual-clutch transmission can remove clutch-pedal work in traffic, but the existence of a seven-speed DCT in European material does not prove that the same gearbox is sold in your country or on every trim. Ask for the exact transmission code and a test drive that includes creeping queues, hill starts and repeated parking manoeuvres.

Creta engine choices
Hyundai India describes three 1.5-litre engines for its market: naturally aspirated petrol, diesel and turbo-petrol. Hyundai Indonesia’s January 2025 leaflet lists a 115 PS naturally aspirated petrol and a 160 PS turbo petrol. Those outputs are market-specific and should not be used to identify the engine in an imported or differently badged vehicle.

The supplied official material does not establish equivalent automatic-transmission choices for the Creta across markets, nor does it provide a matched real-world urban fuel test. For stop-start use, compare the local automatic options, low-speed smoothness, idle-stop behavior, air-conditioning performance and the manufacturer’s service requirements during a drive. A smaller engine is not automatically cheaper in city traffic if the transmission, traffic severity and driving style differ.
Fuel economy: what the published numbers can and cannot say
The Bayon figures above are combined WLTP ranges for specified European variants. WLTP combined testing includes more than urban running, and the range itself reflects configuration or equipment differences. They are not a promise of the consumption you will see in a congested commute.
No equivalent Creta city-consumption result appears in the reviewed official sources. Without the same market, test cycle, engine, gearbox, tyre and trim, naming a fuel-economy winner would be false precision. Use the local homologation label for a like-for-like estimate, then ask owners or a dealer about the route you actually drive.

Bayon features to verify
- Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, which Hyundai Europe describes as warning the driver when the vehicle ahead moves away from an idle state such as a traffic light or queue.
- Reverse parking collision-avoidance assistance, subject to the relevant trim and market.
- Rear sensors, camera and any blind-spot or cross-traffic functions listed on the local equipment sheet.
Creta SmartSense features to verify
- Forward-collision avoidance.
- Lane-keeping assistance.
- Blind-spot collision avoidance.
- Safe-exit warning.
- High-beam assist.
- Driver-attention warning.
Hyundai India presents these as SmartSense highlights, not as a guarantee that every Creta grade includes them. Safety systems can be restricted to upper trims or bundled options. Compare the local standard-equipment list line by line, including whether a function operates at the low speeds common in parking areas.
What the specifications do not establish
The cited material does not provide a same-market purchase price pair, warranty comparison, service schedule, insurance rating, real-world urban fuel test or independent crash-test comparison between equivalent trims. It also does not provide hands-on measurements of outward visibility, ride comfort, steering weight or cabin noise.
Those gaps matter in a city car. A lower list price can disappear if the preferred safety equipment is optional. A larger fuel tank—Hyundai India lists 50 litres for the Creta—does not by itself mean lower running cost; it mainly affects refuelling frequency. Ground clearance, listed as 190 mm for the Creta in the 2025 Middle East brochure, may help with ramps or speed humps, but the brochure also warns that specifications and equipment can change.
How to choose the right one in your market
- Identify the exact market and model year. Record the country where you will register the car, the model year and the trim name. Do not combine a UK Bayon dimension with an Indian or Indonesian Creta price or equipment list.
- Confirm the body dimensions and turning convention. Obtain the local technical sheet and ask whether the turning figure is a kerb-to-kerb circle, wall-to-wall circle or radius. Measure your tightest parking space.
- Match the powertrain and transmission. Compare like with like: engine output, gearbox, driven wheels, tyre size and emissions certification. Test the automatic in crawling traffic, not only on an open road.
- Check the usable cargo space. Bring your normal luggage or child-seat equipment. Verify hatch opening, load-floor height, rear-seat folding and whether the quoted maximum requires removing or folding seats.
- Audit city-focused equipment. Mark which car includes rear sensors, a camera, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot alerts and safe-exit warnings as standard on the exact grade.
- Get local ownership figures. Request the on-road price, warranty duration and mileage limits, scheduled-service pricing, roadside assistance and insurance estimate in writing. These were not established as comparable in the cited sources.
- Drive the route you actually use. Include a narrow street, a full-lock turn, a multi-storey ramp, a speed hump, a queue and a reversing manoeuvre. Note pedal smoothness, sightlines and how easily you can judge each corner.
Best fit by city-driving priority
| Your priority | More promising starting point | Why, and what to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Smallest footprint for tight parking | Bayon | The cited Bayon is 150 mm shorter and 15 mm narrower; verify local dimensions and mirror clearance. |
| Potentially tighter turning manoeuvres | Bayon, provisionally | The cited 5.2 m turning circle is favorable directionally, but the Creta figure is called a 5.4 m radius, so measurement conventions must be confirmed. |
| Maximum luggage flexibility | Creta | The cited Indonesian leaflet lists 433 litres minimum and 1,401 litres maximum; test the actual loading opening. |
| More rear-seat and road-clearance potential | Creta, provisionally | Its 2,610 mm wheelbase and 190 mm ground clearance are listed in the 2025 Middle East brochure; sit in the car and verify local specification. |
| Automatic stop-start commuting | Whichever local trim has the better-matched automatic | Bayon European material includes a seven-speed DCT, but Creta and Bayon transmissions vary by market. Compare low-speed behavior on a test drive. |
| Lowest city fuel bill | Not established | The Bayon figures are combined WLTP, and no equivalent Creta city figure is supplied. |
Verdict
On the cited specifications, the Bayon is the more city-friendly choice for drivers who value a compact body and easier parking above all else. The Creta is the better fit when carrying capacity, rear-seat room and a larger SUV format matter more than the last few centimetres of parking convenience. Because the evidence comes from different markets and model years—and because the turning measurements are not expressed identically—make the final decision from the local technical sheet, equipment list, price and an actual urban test drive.
