Hypershell X Ultra Exoskeleton: What Its 1,000-W Motor Means Compared With an E-Bike

The Hypershell X Ultra is reported to have a 1,000-W peak motor—33% above the US e-bike figure cited by New Atlas. Here is what that comparison means, plus the wearable’s reported specs and unverified company claims.

The Hypershell X Ultra’s M-One Ultra motor is reported to deliver 1,000 watts of peak output—33% more than the 750-watt figure New Atlas cites for US e-bikes. That is a comparison of motor-output ratings, not proof that the wearable makes its user 33% stronger or provides the same kind of assistance as an e-bike. The specifications and performance figures below were reported at the product’s 2025 launch, not independently verified.

What the 33% comparison actually measures

New Atlas reported that Hypershell’s M-One Ultra motor in the X Ultra reaches 1,000 W peak output, compared with 750 W for the US e-bike limit cited in the article. The difference is 250 W, or 33.3% of 750 W. It is a valid arithmetic comparison between those two stated figures, but it does not make the devices equivalent.

An e-bike motor drives a bicycle. The X Ultra is a wearable gait-assistance system, so its motor’s output is applied through a person’s body and movement. Peak wattage alone does not show how much assistance reaches the wearer, how strong it feels, or how the systems perform under comparable conditions. New Atlas also cites 250 W for EU street-legal e-bikes; 1,000 W is four times that figure, but the same distinction applies. The article is not a regulatory source, and applicable rules depend on location and current law.

New Atlas’s October 7, 2025 report describes launch-era product specifications and company claims. It does not provide an independent test or the protocols behind the reported performance figures.

What New Atlas reported about the X Ultra

Motor and construction

The article says earlier Hypershell models had 800 W peak output, making the reported 1,000 W rating a 25% increase over those models. It attributes improved cooling and reduced weight to a thermal-management system and optimized motor winding. The X Ultra is described as using precision 3D-formed titanium alloy and SpiralTwill 3000 carbon fiber.

Weight and battery

New Atlas reports a system weight of 1.8 kg (4 lb) before the battery. Its removable 72 Wh battery is listed at 410 g (14.5 oz). Those are article-reported specifications, not measurements independently confirmed here.

Reported body-effort figures

New Atlas relays Hypershell claims of up to 63% lower hip-flexor muscle load and 25% lower hip-extensor muscle load while walking. It also reports claimed heart-rate reductions of up to 22% while walking and 42% while cycling, with estimated oxygen-consumption reductions of 20% and 39%, respectively. Reported range

New Atlas reports claimed range of up to 65 km (40.4 mi) per battery while cycling and 30 km (18.6 mi) while walking. It says two batteries are included, which would make the claimed totals 130 km cycling or 60 km walking if the spare is carried. The article itself expresses skepticism about the scale of the range increase and notes that results vary; these are not independently verified real-world range figures.

The report also describes regenerative charging during downhill travel and deceleration, claiming a 5–10% range increase and a 25% gain in energy efficiency to 90%. The article does not supply a test protocol for those claims, so they should not be treated as guaranteed gains in ordinary use.
