Howe & Howe unveiled the enclosed Ripsaw EV-2 in 2015 as an extreme recreational tracked vehicle, pairing an over-600-hp diesel engine—according to New Atlas’s announcement-era report—with a luxury-style cabin and bespoke build options. The reported price was well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, but that was a 2015 estimate, not a current offer or price.
What Howe & Howe revealed in 2015
On May 26, 2015, New Atlas reported that Howe & Howe had unveiled the enclosed EV-2, describing it as a “high-end luxury super tank” aimed at “extreme off-road recreation.” Those phrases characterize the publication’s coverage; they are not verified quotes from a named Howe & Howe spokesperson. New Atlas’s May 26, 2015 report framed the EV-2 as a recreational machine rather than a conventional road-going SUV or a military vehicle.

The enclosed body and luxury-cabin styling set the EV-2 apart from the open, more utilitarian impression many people associate with tracked vehicles. Its headline appeal was the combination of an enclosed cabin, dramatic access and lighting features, and a powerful diesel engine, built around off-road recreation.

New Atlas said each EV-2 would be hand-built in a limited run, with a build taking up to six months. The publication put pricing well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending on the desired luxury and performance packages. Both figures describe the 2015 announcement-era report; the available information does not establish current production status, availability, or pricing.
How the EV-2 differs from Howe & Howe’s later vehicle context
The EV-2 story is easy to confuse with later Ripsaw developments, but they belong to different contexts. The EV-2 was presented in 2015 as an enclosed, manned recreational vehicle. Howe & Howe’s current homepage features civil-defense and defense-oriented products and links to Textron’s robotic vehicle family, rather than listing the EV-2 as a current consumer product offer.
Howe & Howe’s account of the later Ripsaw M5 discusses a military-oriented platform separately from the consumer EV-2. Textron likewise presents its Ground Robotic Vehicles as a current product family. The M5 and Textron robotic vehicles therefore provide company and product-line context, not evidence that the EV-2 is currently offered or that its reported recreational specifications apply to those platforms.
