WorldWCR is the FIM Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship, run alongside WorldSBK. Its single-make format assigns every entrant a motorcycle platform from one designated supplier instead of allowing competing manufacturers to develop different bikes. That is intended to make rider ability, racecraft and team execution more influential than a manufacturer’s technical advantage.
The platform changes after 2026: Yamaha’s R7-based partnership covers the opening three seasons, while CFMOTO’s 675SR-R is announced as the exclusive motorcycle from 2027 through 2029. Michelin is also announced as the championship’s single tyre supplier from 2027.

What “single-make” means in WorldWCR
In WorldWCR, “single-make” describes the championship’s motorcycle supply model. Competitors do not select among several manufacturers’ machines; the championship appoints one motorcycle supplier and builds the class around that platform. The official WorldSBK glossary describes WorldWCR as a women’s world championship staged alongside WorldSBK and identifies the Yamaha R7-based concept used at launch.

The purpose is sporting balance. If every entry starts from the same designated motorcycle family, a rider should not lose purely because another manufacturer has a faster engine or more advanced factory development programme. WorldSBK Executive Director Gregorio Lavilla described the objective when the championship launched: “When we launched WorldWCR, our ambition was to give more female riders the opportunity to compete at World Championship level and show what they could do.” (WorldSBK, 8 October 2026.)

It is a common platform, not proof that every part is identical
A single supplier does not, by itself, establish that every component, software setting or preparation detail is identical on every grid position. Race teams still have to prepare motorcycles and make setup decisions within the technical rules. The supplied official material does not list all permitted or prohibited modifications, so the exact limits must be taken from the FIM and WorldSBK sporting and technical regulations for the season in question.
That distinction matters when interpreting results. A one-make class reduces one major variable—different manufacturers competing with different base designs—but it does not remove rider ability, crew execution, setup choices, weather, circuit characteristics or incidents from the result.
The Yamaha era: 2024 through 2026
WorldWCR began in 2024. Yamaha supplied the R7 motorcycles for the first three seasons, covering 2024, 2025 and 2026. The official 2026 provisional permanent entry list identifies the entrant motorcycles as Yamaha YZF-R7.

What changes for 2027
WorldSBK’s 9 October 2026 announcement names CFMOTO as WorldWCR’s exclusive motorcycle supplier for 2027–2029 and identifies the 675SR-R as the new platform. The announcement says the championship’s one-make principle will continue (WorldSBK, 9 October 2026).
The 675SR-R’s published headline specifications
WorldSBK describes the incoming motorcycle as using a 675cc three-cylinder engine. The same announcement says it brings around 15 horsepower more than the current platform. That is a figure from the supplier and championship announcement, not an independently conducted comparison test; it should not be treated as a laboratory result measured under a stated common test protocol.
The announcement also does not establish how the extra output will translate into lap time. Acceleration, top speed, tyre behaviour and race results depend on gearing, electronics, circuit layout, track temperature, rider technique, setup and conditions. A larger quoted power figure is therefore useful context, but not a guaranteed performance margin at every circuit.
Michelin becomes the single tyre supplier
Michelin is announced as WorldWCR’s sole tyre supplier from 2027. This extends the common-equipment idea beyond the motorcycle platform: every rider will use tyres supplied under the championship’s appointed arrangement. The announcement does not provide a complete tyre allocation, compound list or race-weekend procedure, so those details should be checked in the applicable season regulations and event documents.

What the format does—and does not—standardise
The format standardises the source of the motorcycle platform. It does not answer every technical question a fan or prospective entrant might have. The following distinction keeps the published facts separate from assumptions:
| Question | What is established | What is not established by the cited announcements |
|---|---|---|
| Can teams choose different motorcycle manufacturers? | No. The championship appoints one exclusive supplier for each period. | Nothing in the announcements suggests an open multi-manufacturer competition. |
| Which Yamaha model was used through 2026? | The launch platform is the Yamaha R7, and the 2026 entry list names the Yamaha YZF-R7. | The complete race-preparation specification for every entry. |
| Which motorcycle is planned from 2027? | CFMOTO 675SR-R. | The final homologation details, permitted parts and control-electronics specification. |
| Are all components exactly the same? | The class is single-make and uses one designated platform. | A complete list of identical parts or every legal setup adjustment. |
| Who supplies tyres from 2027? | Michelin is announced as the single supplier. | Exact compounds, allocations and event procedures. |
For a technical answer about suspension settings, engine seals, data systems, permitted replacement parts or control electronics, use the current FIM and WorldSBK regulations rather than extrapolating from the phrase “single-make.” Rules can change between seasons.
How a single-make class affects competition
Rider skill becomes easier to compare
With a common motorcycle family, a rider’s braking, corner entry, line choice, throttle control, tyre management and tactical decisions become more visible. The arrangement cannot make motorcycles behave identically in every circumstance, but it narrows the equipment gap that exists when manufacturers bring unrelated designs with different engines, chassis concepts and development budgets.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTeam preparation still matters
Teams remain responsible for turning the supplied platform into a race-ready entry. Setup work, data interpretation, communication with the rider, tyre management and pit-wall decisions can separate competitors even when their motorcycles originate from the same supplier. A common bike therefore changes the source of performance; it does not eliminate engineering or operational work.

Results still need context
A WorldWCR result cannot isolate motorcycle performance from the rider, team, circuit, weather and race circumstances. Comparing the Yamaha and CFMOTO periods should therefore avoid declaring one platform inherently superior from finishing positions alone. The supplier transition also changes the machinery at the same time that riders, teams, track conditions and regulations may vary.
What is known about the race-weekend format
WorldWCR runs alongside WorldSBK events, which gives the championship a World Championship setting and places its races on the same event weekends as the premier series. However, the official material cited here does not establish the current session order, number of races per round, qualifying procedure, grid formation or points system.
Those details should not be inferred from another WorldSBK class or from an earlier WorldWCR season. Anyone planning to attend an event, follow a specific round or enter the championship should consult that event’s official timetable and the sporting regulations that apply to the relevant year.
Who can compete?
The WorldSBK glossary lists a minimum age of 18 for WorldWCR. Treat that as the glossary’s stated threshold, not as a complete and permanently current eligibility checklist. Licensing, entry requirements, medical provisions and other conditions are governed by the regulations in force for the season and jurisdiction concerned.

The championship was created to give women riders a route to World Championship-level competition. Age is only one eligibility item; a prospective entrant should confirm the current FIM and championship rules before making travel, licensing or team arrangements.
How to compare the Yamaha and CFMOTO periods accurately
- Identify the season. Use 2024–2026 for the Yamaha period and 2027–2029 for the announced CFMOTO period.
- Identify the official platform. The Yamaha-era entry list names the Yamaha YZF-R7; the 2027 announcement names the CFMOTO 675SR-R.
- Separate specification from test data. The 675cc three-cylinder description and “around 15 hp more” statement come from WorldSBK’s supplier announcement. They are not an independent benchmark.
- Check the regulations for technical detail. Use the applicable FIM and WorldSBK sporting and technical regulations for homologation, permitted preparation, tyres, electronics and replacement parts.
- Control for race context. When comparing results, account for rider, team, circuit, weather, setup and the conditions of each event instead of assigning every difference to the motorcycle.
Common misconceptions about WorldWCR’s format
“Single-make” means riders buy an unchanged showroom bike
Not necessarily. The official description establishes a designated supplier and platform, but it does not publish a complete list of race-preparation parts or permitted modifications. A championship motorcycle should not be assumed to have the same specification as a consumer-market machine without an official technical reference.
The 2027 change opens WorldWCR to several manufacturers
No. CFMOTO replaces Yamaha as the exclusive supplier for the announced 2027–2029 period. The one-make principle continues; the announcement is a supplier transition, not a move to open competition between motorcycle brands.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →More quoted horsepower guarantees faster lap times
No. WorldSBK’s “around 15 hp more” statement describes the announced CFMOTO platform relative to the current platform. It does not provide an independent test, a track-by-track prediction or a guarantee that every rider will be faster.
Every important sporting rule is implied by the class name
No. The class name explains the motorcycle-supply concept. It does not supply the current schedule, grid procedure, race count, points table or complete technical rulebook. Those items require the regulations and event documents for the specific season.
The practical takeaway
WorldWCR uses one appointed motorcycle supplier at a time to keep the machinery foundation common and put greater emphasis on riders and teams. Yamaha’s R7-based platform defines 2024–2026; CFMOTO’s 675SR-R is announced for 2027–2029, with Michelin becoming the single tyre supplier from 2027. The format creates a controlled comparison of rider performance, but it does not make every race variable identical. For exact technical, sporting or eligibility details, always use the regulations for the season being discussed.
