The race’s final U.S. network, streaming lineup, and official start time had not yet been fully published as of August 12, 2026. If NASCAR and FOX follow the 2026 arrangement, U.S. viewers should be able to watch through FOX, the FOX Sports app, FOXSports.com, FOX One, or a participating live-TV streaming service—but that is an expectation, not a confirmed 2027 announcement.
The most reliable legal no-monthly-fee option is different: receive your local FOX station over the air with a digital antenna. That is free broadcast television rather than an internet stream, and it works only where your address can receive FOX.
Fast answer: the legal ways to watch
| Viewer situation | Best legal option | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. viewer within range of local FOX | Use a digital antenna to receive FOX over the air | FOX is a free local broadcast network where available; reception varies by address. |
| U.S. viewer with a participating TV provider | Use the FOX Sports app or FOXSports.com after signing in | These were official streaming routes for the 2026 race. 2027 access is still subject to the announced rights and provider lineup. |
| U.S. viewer without cable | Check a live-TV streaming service for your local FOX affiliate | Services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, FuboTV, and Sling TV have previously been listed as FOX alternatives, but availability and terms vary. |
| Viewer outside the United States | Use the authorized NASCAR broadcaster or sports service for your country | Rights are geographic and can change each season. |
Do not rely on unauthorized mirror sites, social-media restreams, or a VPN to bypass regional restrictions. A VPN can change your apparent location, but it does not give you permission to circumvent broadcast rights.

The 2027 Daytona 500 is scheduled for Sunday, February 21, 2027, at the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway. Daytona’s published event calendar places Speedweeks from February 16 through February 21, with:

- February 21: the Daytona 500
The race is the NASCAR Cup Series season opener, commonly called the “Great American Race.” It covers 500 miles over 200 laps around the 2.5-mile superspeedway.
Two notable storylines are already attached to the 2027 event. Jimmie Johnson has announced that the race is scheduled to be his final Cup Series start, and Ford has announced that its Mustang Dark Horse SC is scheduled to debut in the event. Neither announcement confirms the race’s broadcast network or starting time.
The 2027 start time is still pending
Do not assume that the 2027 race will begin at the same time as the previous Daytona 500. The 2026 schedule initially listed a 2:30 p.m. Eastern start on FOX, but weather moved the race-day program to 1:30 p.m. Eastern. That change is a useful warning: even a published start time can change because of weather, track conditions, or television scheduling.
Check NASCAR, Daytona International Speedway, and FOX Sports close to race day for the final green-flag estimate, television window, qualifying schedule, and any weather-related changes.
What happened in 2026—and what it suggests for 2027
The most recent completed race, the 2026 Daytona 500, aired live in the United States on FOX. FOX Sports identified FOXSports.com, the FOX Sports app, and FOX One as online viewing routes. NASCAR also listed MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio for audio coverage.
That is the best current reference point, but it is not a guarantee for 2027. The 2027 network schedule and streaming distribution must be confirmed by NASCAR or FOX before publication or race day. The accurate way to describe the likely arrangement is:
If NASCAR again places the Daytona 500 on FOX, U.S. viewers should expect access through the FOX Sports app and participating live-TV providers, subject to authentication, local FOX availability, device compatibility, and the final 2027 rights announcement.

For many U.S. households, the best free option is a local FOX station received over the air. An indoor HDTV antenna can receive the station without a cable or streaming-TV subscription if the viewer’s address is within usable signal range.
The Federal Communications Commission confirms that broadcast television stations provide free over-the-air programming. AntennaWeb’s guidance makes the important qualification clear: reception depends on the distance and direction to the transmitter, terrain, buildings, trees, and other obstructions. An antenna advertised with a long range does not guarantee that your local FOX affiliate will be watchable.
Free-watch checklist
- Check your address with an antenna reception tool before buying hardware.
- Confirm that the predicted local station is FOX, not merely another broadcast network.
- Place the antenna near a window or as high as practical, following its installation instructions.
- Run a channel scan on your television after connecting it.
- Test the FOX signal before race day, preferably during a live broadcast.
An antenna is a free broadcast alternative, not a free internet live stream. It sends the local FOX signal directly to a television or compatible tuner. If you want to watch that signal on a computer, tablet, phone, or a television without a built-in over-the-air tuner, you may need additional compatible equipment.
Readers who have a usable local signal can compare an indoor HDTV antenna after checking their address. The purchase only makes sense if FOX reception is predicted at the location; no antenna can overcome every combination of distance, obstruction, or local signal conditions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhen an outdoor antenna may help
If an indoor antenna produces a weak or intermittent FOX signal, an outdoor TV antenna may provide a better installation position and fewer indoor obstructions. It still does not guarantee reception. The antenna must be suitable for the local transmission direction, and installation may involve a mast, grounding, weatherproofing, cable routing, or professional help.
Before spending more on equipment, rescan the television, try a better indoor position, check the coaxial cable and connectors, and verify the predicted transmitter direction. A so-called “long-range” label is not a substitute for an address-specific reception check.
Do you need a digital TV tuner?
Most modern televisions include an over-the-air tuner, but not every display or streaming device does. A compatible digital TV tuner can be necessary when connecting an antenna to a computer or to equipment that lacks its own broadcast tuner. Check the tuner’s supported broadcast standard, operating system, television compatibility, and recording or viewing software before buying.
A streaming stick by itself normally does not turn an antenna signal into an internet stream. Antenna reception and internet streaming are separate setups. Some television ecosystems combine them, but compatibility must be checked for the specific television, tuner, and app.

How to stream the race officially in the United States
Option 1: FOX Sports app or FOXSports.com
For the 2026 Daytona 500, FOX Sports offered live viewing through its website and app, with FOX One also identified as an official route. In general, access to FOX Sports programming through the app depends on receiving the relevant FOX channel through a participating television provider or qualifying service.
Before race day:
- Install the FOX Sports app on your television, phone, tablet, or supported streaming device, or open FOXSports.com.
- Check whether the Daytona 500 event page appears in the live schedule.
- Sign in using the credentials for your participating television provider if prompted.
- Confirm that your provider’s lineup includes your local FOX affiliate, not just national sports channels.
- Test playback before the pre-race show begins.
Do not confuse having a FOX Sports app installed with having access to every live event. The app may be free to download while live programming remains subject to provider authentication, regional rights, or a separate FOX service subscription.
Option 2: a live-TV streaming service
A cable-free live-TV service may carry the Daytona 500 if it carries the viewer’s local FOX station in that ZIP code. FOX Sports has previously identified services including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, FuboTV, and Sling TV as possible alternatives. That historical list is not a permanent promise of carriage, price, free-trial availability, or regional coverage.
Check the service’s current local-channel lookup using the exact viewing ZIP code. Pay attention to:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Whether the service carries the local FOX affiliate in your market
- Whether the base package includes that channel
- Current monthly price, taxes, and sports or broadcast-channel add-ons
- Cloud DVR restrictions and simultaneous-stream limits
- Whether a promotional trial is available and when billing begins
- Supported devices and whether the service works where you will watch
A service that carries FOX in one city may not carry it in another. If you are choosing a provider solely for the Daytona 500, verify the lineup immediately before signing up rather than relying on an old comparison article or a nationwide advertising claim.
Option 3: FOX One, if the 2027 event is included
FOX Sports listed FOX One among the online options for the 2026 race. Whether the 2027 Daytona 500 is included, and under what subscription or regional conditions, should be confirmed in the current FOX One event schedule. Do not assume that a service’s existence or current sports catalog guarantees access to a future race.
For television viewing through an app, use a supported streaming media player or smart-TV app only after checking current FOX Sports compatibility. The device must support the relevant app, receive a stable internet connection, and remain signed in to an account with the required access.

- Long-Range Reception: TV antenna uses four patented loops, Hi-VHF elements and reflectors to receive free TV signals over-the-air from broadcast towers
- Durable Construction: Powerful TV antenna measures 17.4" H x 27.8" W x 6" D with premium durable materials for installation indoors, in an attic, or outdoors in suburban and rural areas
- Compatibility: NEXTGEN TV, 4K, 8K UHD, Full HD 1080p, no Internet required to watch over-the-air TV
- Reception Considerations: Each market has TV towers located in different areas; Distance to the towers and obstructions like trees and your home's building materials will affect reception; an antenna cannot provide cable TV channels
- Enhanced Signal Protection: Reflectors add forward gain and focus antenna's power to protect incoming TV signal from interference that causes pixelation or complete loss of picture; 20-inch mast's pivoting base allows installation on vertical or horizontal surfaces
International viewing: use the broadcaster for your country
A U.S. FOX stream is not a universal international solution. NASCAR’s 2026 international distribution announcement covered more than 185 countries and territories in 23 languages, with different rights partners by market.
Examples from the 2026 distribution included:
- Canada: CTV
- Mexico and Spanish-speaking Latin America: FOX
- Selected European markets: Premier Sports, Ziggo, Mediawan, SportDigital, and DAZN
- Selected African markets: SuperSport and other regional partners
- Asia-Pacific markets: Abema, Coupang, SPOTV, FOX Sports Australia, Sky TV New Zealand, and Recast, depending on territory
This list illustrates why location matters; it should not be read as a current 2027 lineup for every country. International rights can be renegotiated by season, and one service may cover only certain territories or languages.
Viewers outside the United States should check NASCAR’s official international broadcaster list or the authorized sports network serving their country. Look for the Daytona 500 in that service’s live schedule, and verify whether the event is included in an existing subscription, requires a sports package, or is available through a separate pay-per-view or streaming arrangement.
Race-day setup and troubleshooting
If the FOX channel is missing from your antenna
- Confirm that your local FOX affiliate is predicted to reach your address.
- Move the indoor antenna away from large appliances and dense obstructions, preferably toward the transmitter.
- Run a fresh channel scan after every significant position change.
- Inspect the coaxial cable, connectors, splitters, and any amplifier.
- If the signal remains weak, compare a higher indoor position or an outdoor installation.
- Have a backup official stream ready if local reception remains unreliable.
If the FOX Sports app will not play the race
- Verify that the provider account includes the relevant FOX channel.
- Confirm that the local FOX affiliate is available in the current ZIP code.
- Sign out and back in if authentication has expired.
- Update the app and the television or streaming device.
- Disable unnecessary VPN or proxy connections, which can trigger location or rights errors.
- Test the same account on another supported device.
- Check the official status page or provider support page if the problem affects multiple devices.
If the stream buffers
Test the internet connection before the pre-race program, use a wired connection where practical, pause other high-bandwidth activity, and keep a second authorized viewing method available. If you are using a live-TV service, confirm that the issue is not limited to the local affiliate by testing another channel or device.
If weather changes the schedule
Use the live schedule in the FOX Sports app or the official NASCAR and Daytona event updates rather than relying on the original listing. The 2026 Daytona 500’s scheduled program moved from 2:30 p.m. Eastern to 1:30 p.m. Eastern because of weather, so race-day timing should be treated as changeable until the event begins.
What to check before February 21, 2027
- Broadcast: Confirm the 2027 U.S. network and streaming rights from NASCAR or FOX Sports.
- Start time: Check the final Eastern Time listing and convert it to your time zone.
- Local FOX: Use your ZIP code to verify antenna reception or live-TV provider carriage.
- Authentication: Make sure your FOX Sports or provider login works before race day.
- Device: Update the app, television, browser, or compatible streaming media player.
- Internet: Test playback and prepare a wired or alternate connection if needed.
- International rights: Confirm the authorized broadcaster for your country, not a U.S.-only listing.
- Weather: Recheck the schedule on race morning and before the pre-race show.
- Backup: If legal and available at your address, keep the antenna and official stream as separate backup options.
What not to do
Do not use websites that promise a “free HD stream” without identifying an authorized broadcaster, and do not follow unofficial restream links posted in forums or social-media comments. Such streams can disappear during the race, contain aggressive advertising or malware, and violate distribution rights.
Nor does a VPN automatically make a foreign or U.S. stream available to you. The relevant question is not simply whether a website loads from your location; it is whether the service is authorized to show the Daytona 500 in your territory and whether your account meets its terms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a free Daytona 500 live stream online?
A universally free, legal internet stream should not be assumed. In the United States, the clearest free legal option is local FOX received over the air with a compatible digital antenna. Official online viewing generally depends on FOX Sports access, FOX One, or a participating live-TV provider, subject to the 2027 rights announcement.
Can I watch the Daytona 500 free with an antenna?
Yes, if your address can receive the local FOX affiliate. The antenna itself does not require a monthly television subscription, but reception varies with transmitter distance, direction, terrain, buildings, trees, and the antenna installation.
Recommended Free Tools
What time does the 2027 Daytona 500 start?
The 2027 race is scheduled for Sunday, February 21, 2027, but the official start time had not been fully published as of August 12, 2026. Check the final NASCAR, Daytona International Speedway, and FOX Sports listings because the 2026 program was moved because of weather.
Will the 2027 Daytona 500 be on FOX?
That had not been confirmed in the available 2027 information. The 2026 race aired on FOX and streamed through FOXSports.com, the FOX Sports app, and FOX One, so a similar arrangement is possible, but it should not be presented as a confirmed 2027 lineup until NASCAR or FOX publishes it.
How can viewers outside the United States watch?
Use the authorized NASCAR broadcaster or sports service for your country. International rights are geographic and can change by season; a U.S. FOX stream may not be available or authorized in another territory.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Mark Sunday, February 21, 2027, for the Daytona 500, but wait for the official 2027 network and start-time announcement before treating any streaming guide as final. In the United States, check local FOX reception first if you want a legal no-monthly-fee option. Otherwise, prepare the FOX Sports app, FOX One, or a live-TV streaming service only after confirming current access to your local FOX affiliate. International viewers should use the authorized broadcaster for their own country.
