The 2025 United States Grand Prix is no longer live. It ran October 17–19, 2025, and the Grand Prix aired on ABC, with the rest of the Sprint weekend on ESPN platforms. At the time, an antenna was the only genuinely free U.S. option for Sunday’s race; YouTube TV’s advertised 10-day trial was the best full-weekend trial, with Fubo and DIRECTV offering shorter five-day trials. This guide preserves those historical options and points to legal replay choices now.
Bottom line: the 2025 United States Grand Prix is over, so the old “free trial” deals are historical rather than current offers. For the original U.S. weekend, a local ABC antenna was the only genuinely free way to watch the Sunday race; YouTube TV’s advertised 10-day trial was the most practical full-weekend option, while Fubo and DIRECTV advertised five-day trials subject to eligibility and local-channel availability.
What you could watch in the United States
The 2025 United States Grand Prix ran at Circuit of The Americas in Austin from Friday, October 17, through Sunday, October 19. It was Round 19 of the 24-round Formula 1 season, with a Sprint included. The event is now an archive/replay story, not an upcoming live race.
At the time, the main race aired on ABC. The rest of the weekend was distributed across ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPN+, and the ESPN app. That distinction matters: a free-to-air ABC antenna could cover the Grand Prix itself, but not automatically the entire Sprint weekend.

The best historical free-trial option: YouTube TV
For a U.S. viewer who wanted every session, YouTube TV was the strongest advertised trial around the 2025 race. The listed trial lasted 10 days and included ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, giving it enough runway to cover Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—and potentially the following Mexican Grand Prix as well.
The advertised promotional price was $72.99 per month for the first three months after the trial. That price and the 10-day trial were offers shown around the 2025 event; they should not be treated as a current 2026 deal. Trial length, price, eligibility, and included channels can change by account and date. YouTube TV’s offer terms are the right place to verify the terms displayed for a particular signup.

- You needed a U.S. account and a valid payment method.
- The offer might not appear for an existing account or for someone who had already used a trial.
- You needed to confirm that your ZIP-code-specific lineup included the local ABC affiliate, as well as ESPN and ESPN2.
- YouTube TV is U.S.-only and uses location-based restrictions; it is not a universal travel option.
- The subscription generally auto-renewed into a paid plan unless canceled before billing.
How the signup and cancellation process worked
- Open YouTube TV’s official signup page and check the offer shown for the account.
- Enter the real service ZIP code and verify that ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 appear in the channel lineup.
- Start the trial before the first session you wanted to watch.
- Search the guide for “Formula 1,” “ABC,” “ESPN,” or “ESPN2.”
- Test a channel before the live session begins. This catches local-affiliate and device problems while there is still time to use another option.
- Write down the exact billing date shown at checkout.
If you did not want to continue, YouTube TV’s cancellation path was Profile → Settings → Membership → Manage → Cancel membership → Cancel. Canceling during a trial normally prevented billing, although the account page’s displayed trial-access rules controlled the result. If the subscription was billed through Apple, Google Play, a mobile carrier, or an internet provider, cancellation had to be completed through that billing partner instead. YouTube TV’s official cancellation help explains the process.
Other U.S. trials
Fubo: five days, but check ABC carefully
Fubo advertised a five-day trial around the 2025 United States Grand Prix. Its ESPN and ESPN2 access could cover the ESPN-based sessions, and a local ABC affiliate was available in some ZIP codes. The exact lineup was market-dependent, so searching Fubo’s channel list with the service address was essential.
Fubo also explained that its ESPN credentials could unlock nationally televised ABC sports in the ESPN app. If the ABC channel itself did not appear in Fubo, the authentication route was:
- Open the event in the ESPN app.
- Choose Fubo as the television provider.
- Sign in with the Fubo account credentials.
That did not remove the need to check whether the particular event and market were supported. See Fubo’s ABC Sports and ESPN instructions.

DIRECTV MySports was another advertised five-day trial option. It included ESPN and ESPN2, while local ABC availability depended on the market. Promotional pricing varied, so the checkout screen—not an old article—was the source of truth for the monthly cost, taxes, add-ons, and billing date.
Before starting a trial, confirm all three things in the ZIP-code-specific lineup:

The genuinely free U.S. option: an antenna and ABC
If the only priority was Sunday’s race, a television antenna receiving a local ABC affiliate was the cleanest no-subscription solution. Once the antenna was purchased, the broadcast itself was free to receive over the air, subject to having a usable ABC signal.
Recommended Free Tools
This option did not provide the complete weekend. It covered the Sunday Grand Prix, but not Practice 1, Sprint Qualifying, the Sprint, or Saturday qualifying unless those sessions were separately available through another service. It was also dependent on local reception and the presence of an ABC affiliate in range.
| Your goal | Best fit at the time |
|---|---|
| Watch only Sunday’s race at no streaming cost | Antenna plus local ABC |
| Watch every session during the weekend | YouTube TV’s advertised 10-day trial |
| Try a shorter live-TV subscription | Fubo or DIRECTV’s advertised five-day trial |
| Pay as little as possible for ESPN channels | Sling Weekend Pass, if the required session access was available |
| Get dedicated F1 features and alternate feeds | F1 TV Premium |
Cheapest paid fallback: Sling Weekend Pass
Sling’s Weekend Pass was advertised at $9.99 for three days. It was not free, but it was a lower-cost fallback for ESPN and ESPN2 access without starting a conventional monthly plan. The relevant pass included ESPN, ESPN2, and other Orange channels.
Do not assume the pass solved the entire ABC problem. ABC availability and the exact access path for the race needed to be checked separately. If the goal was the whole U.S. weekend, compare the pass’s actual lineup with the session map above before paying. See Sling’s Weekend Pass page.
F1 TV Premium: the dedicated F1 alternative
F1 TV Premium was a paid alternative rather than a free trial. The event guide listed a $129.99 annual plan and described full F1 coverage, onboard feeds, and 4K/HDR features. It was the better fit for viewers who valued F1-specific camera angles and supplementary feeds more than the lowest possible weekend cost.
Its availability and exact access rights depended on territory and the applicable F1 TV plan. In the United States, it should be treated as a premium option alongside—or in comparison with—the broadcaster package, not as proof that every ESPN or ABC feed was included in the same way. Formula 1’s original United States Grand Prix event guide contains the historical plan information.
What “free” meant for this race
Streaming guides often use “free” for several different things. For the 2025 U.S. Grand Prix, separate them like this:
- Free-to-air: an antenna receiving local ABC, covering the Sunday race only.
- Free trial: a temporary live-TV subscription requiring a payment method and usually auto-renewing if not canceled.
- Low-cost pass: Sling’s $9.99 three-day Weekend Pass, which was paid rather than free.
- Free highlights: selected post-event video, not a complete live weekend or necessarily a full replay.
A trial was never “free” in the practical sense unless you also tracked eligibility and canceled before the stated billing date. Promotional monthly prices could exclude taxes, equipment, premium add-ons, or later standard pricing.
Legal free viewing outside the United States
Rights were different by country. These services were legal options associated with the 2025 event, but each was territory-limited and could require local registration or a login. A U.S. viewer traveling abroad should not assume that a U.S. subscription remained usable, and a viewer abroad should not assume that an American service was licensed there.

Austria: ORF
ORF carried the 2025 United States Grand Prix live on ORF 1 and ORF ON, including live session streams. The free availability applied to Austria and was subject to ORF’s own access rules. See ORF’s event announcement.
Belgium: RTBF Auvio
RTBF Auvio provided free Formula 1 coverage in Belgium, generally with account registration and Belgian availability requirements. The service was not a guaranteed worldwide free stream. Details and access conditions were listed in RTBF’s Auvio support center.
Luxembourg: RTL
RTL Zwee and RTL Play carried the 2025 qualifying, Sprint, and race coverage. Online F1 viewing through RTL Play required a login. See RTL’s 2025 schedule announcement and its login notice.
United Kingdom: live coverage was paid
Sky Sports and NOW carried live coverage in the U.K. Channel 4 offered free extended highlights, but not the normal live U.S. Grand Prix. That is a highlights option, not a free live-stream option. The original U.K. coverage guide outlines the distinction.
Australia: live coverage was paid
Fox Sports and Kayo carried live coverage in Australia. Network 10 and 10Play offered free highlights for non-Australian rounds, including the relevant highlights availability, but not a free live replacement for the full weekend. Check the Network 10 Formula 1 page for the service’s current program information.
Traveling abroad: what changes
Travel can change both the service that is licensed to show the race and the account’s ability to play it. Location checks may use the device, account, payment country, app store, or network. YouTube TV, for example, is available only in the United States and applies location-based restrictions.
A VPN is not a broadcast entitlement. It may be blocked, may violate a provider’s terms, and does not turn a country-restricted service into a universally authorized stream. Follow the provider’s terms and local law, and use the broadcaster licensed for the country where you are actually watching. No legitimate guide can promise that a VPN will defeat every location check.
Why ESPN+ alone was not a safe answer
The weekend’s session list included ESPN+, but that did not mean every viewer with ESPN+ alone was guaranteed the main ABC race. ESPN’s plan structure distinguished ESPN Select, which consisted of ESPN+ content, from ESPN Unlimited, which included ESPN’s linear networks and ESPN-on-ABC events.
For the 2025 Grand Prix, readers needed to verify the exact event access and channel entitlement instead of treating ESPN Select or ESPN+ alone as equivalent to a complete ESPN-and-ABC live-TV package. ESPN’s plan explanation documents the distinction.
Common problems and recovery steps
The trial is not showing
Trial offers can be limited to new or eligible accounts. An account that previously used a trial, or one tied to an existing subscription history, may see only a paid signup. Do not create duplicate accounts to evade eligibility rules. Check the official offer terms and use another legitimate option if the offer is unavailable.
ABC is missing from the channel guide
Enter the correct service ZIP code and inspect the local lineup before paying. Local ABC availability was not universal on Fubo or DIRECTV, and it could vary by market. If the provider supports ABC Sports authentication, try the ESPN app with the provider credentials, following the provider’s instructions.
You can see ESPN2 but not the race
ESPN2 access alone does not establish ABC access. Recheck the session map: Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying were on ESPN2, while the Grand Prix was on ABC and the ESPN app. Confirm the local ABC affiliate or the supported app entitlement separately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe stream is blocked because you are traveling
Check whether the service permits playback in your present country. A U.S.-only service may not work abroad even if the account is valid. Use an authorized local broadcaster where one exists, such as ORF in Austria, RTBF Auvio in Belgium, or RTL in Luxembourg, subject to each service’s requirements.
The trial billed you unexpectedly
Look at the account’s billing page and identify the billing partner. If the trial was started directly with the streaming provider, cancel in that provider’s membership settings. If it was started through Apple, Google Play, a carrier, or an internet provider, cancel through that partner. Save the cancellation confirmation and check the next statement.
The app will not play video
Test playback before the session, update the app, sign out and back in, verify the device’s location permissions when required, and try the provider’s supported web player. If the problem is channel-specific, test another channel to separate a general device problem from an ABC affiliate or rights issue.

Because the event has ended, a new trial will not recreate the original live weekend. For legal post-event viewing, start with these official or rights-holder-linked options:
- Official Formula 1 highlights on YouTube for selected free video coverage.
- The F1 TV archive for the Austin race replay listing, subject to the account and territory rules shown by F1 TV.
- The U.S. Formula 1 Channel, where available, for the rights-holder’s U.S. programming and archive-related offerings.
Replay availability, subscription requirements, commentary language, and territory access can change. Confirm whether a listing is a full replay, condensed replay, or highlights video before subscribing.
Languages and commentary
The U.S. options were primarily English-language broadcasts. International services may provide different commentary and studio feeds; availability can include English, German, French, or Luxembourgish depending on the broadcaster and platform. The language offered is not necessarily the same as the service’s registration language, so check the player or event page before relying on a particular feed.
What happened on the track?
Before the weekend, Oscar Piastri led Lando Norris by 22 points, while Max Verstappen was 63 points behind Piastri. The verified pre-race grid began with Verstappen on pole, followed by Norris, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, Lewis Hamilton, Piastri, Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Carlos Sainz, and Fernando Alonso. The complete classification and qualifying times are available in the FIA qualifying classification.
Verstappen won the Sprint. Norris and Piastri both retired after a first-lap collision; the official Sprint result records the outcome.

Important 2026 rights update
U.S. readers should not use this article as a current 2026 F1 subscription guide. The rights situation changed after the event: Apple announced that Apple TV became Formula 1’s exclusive new U.S. broadcast partner from 2026. That change does not alter the historical fact that the 2025 U.S. Grand Prix was carried by ABC and ESPN platforms.
In other words, the old YouTube TV, Fubo, DIRECTV, and Sling details answer “How could I have watched the 2025 weekend?” They do not establish which service carries a future U.S. Grand Prix or whether the same trial exists today.
Frequently Asked Questions
Could I watch the entire 2025 U.S. Grand Prix weekend free with an antenna?
No. An antenna receiving a local ABC affiliate covered the Sunday Grand Prix, but the Sprint weekend’s Practice 1, Sprint Qualifying, Sprint, and qualifying were distributed across ESPN2, ESPNEWS, ESPN+, and the ESPN app.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Which U.S. free trial was best for the 2025 United States Grand Prix?
YouTube TV advertised a 10-day trial around the 2025 event, while Fubo and DIRECTV advertised five-day trials. Eligibility, price, local ABC availability, and trial length were account- and date-dependent, and each required a payment method.
Was ESPN+ alone enough to watch the 2025 U.S. Grand Prix?
No. ESPN Select consisted of ESPN+ content, and ESPN+ alone was not a guaranteed substitute for the linear ESPN and ABC access used for the main race. Check the exact plan and event entitlement.
Where can I legally watch the 2025 U.S. Grand Prix now?
Yes, subject to the relevant account, territory, and archive listing. Official Formula 1 highlights are available on YouTube, and the F1 TV archive lists the Austin race replay where supported.
Who has U.S. Formula 1 rights now?
The 2025 race was on ABC and ESPN platforms. From 2026, U.S. F1 broadcast rights moved to Apple TV, so historical 2025 channel information should not be used as a current 2026 subscription guide.

The 2025 United States Grand Prix can no longer be watched live. Historically, use an antenna for a genuinely free Sunday ABC broadcast, YouTube TV’s advertised 10-day trial for the best full-weekend U.S. coverage, or the five-day Fubo and DIRECTV trials after checking the local lineup. For viewing now, use official F1 highlights or the F1 TV archive. U.S. live rights moved to Apple TV from 2026.
