Apple TV has the exclusive U.S. rights, but eligible new subscribers can use its seven-day free trial for a live race weekend. In the United States, you generally cannot watch every 2026 Formula 1 Grand Prix live for free without using a promotion. Apple TV is the exclusive U.S. broadcaster for the 2026 season, carrying every practice session, qualifying session, Sprint, and race live and on demand. Eligible new subscribers can usually watch through Apple TV’s seven-day free trial, then cancel at least 24 hours before renewal if they do not want the $12.99-per-month plan.
For permanently free official viewing, use the Formula 1 Channel and Formula 1’s official video pages. They offer highlights, analysis, documentaries, selected replays, and other programming—but not a live, uninterrupted broadcast of every main-series Grand Prix.

- Breathtaking picture: Sharp 4K brings out rich detail on our 55" flat screen TV, while the QLED screen and HDR10 create bright, accurate colors. Roku Smart Picture cleans up incoming TV signals, optimizes them, and chooses the right picture mode.
- Seamless streaming: With fast Wi-Fi and apps that launch in a snap, Roku Select Series TVs get you to your entertainment quickly. You get excellent picture quality, clear sound, automatic updates, and more. It’s simple to use. Hard to outgrow.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
- A world of free entertainment: Enjoy a huge selection of free live TV, news, sports, movies, shows, and much more—all just a click away.
- More streaming, less searching: With personalized picks right on your Home Screen, quick access to the sports and entertainment you watch most, and fast and easy search in one place—the days of endless scrolling are over.
- Confirm the event. Make sure you are watching a Formula 1 World Championship race, Sprint, qualifying session, or practice session. The Apple TV rights cover all of these live in the United States during the 2026 season.
- Check the official Apple TV offer. Open the Apple TV app or Apple’s Formula 1 information page and review the current offer while signed in. The public U.S. offer is $12.99 per month after a seven-day trial for eligible new subscribers.
- Verify trial eligibility before starting. A trial may be limited to new subscribers or otherwise subject to Apple’s promotional terms. Do not assume that an account that has previously used an Apple TV trial will qualify again.
- Start the trial close enough to race day. A seven-day trial may cover one race weekend, but it may not cover two Grand Prix weekends. Check the session schedule before activating the offer.
- Set a cancellation reminder immediately. If you do not want a paid subscription, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Apple subscriptions normally renew unless canceled, so waiting until the last few minutes creates unnecessary risk.
- Watch through a supported device. You can use the Apple TV app on the web, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, supported smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and other supported platforms.
The trial is a temporary promotion, not a permanent free F1 service. Before starting it, read the displayed renewal date and price in your account. Promotional terms, eligibility, pricing, and supported devices can change.
Can a device promotion provide more free time?
Possibly. Eligible customers who purchase and activate a qualifying new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, or Mac may receive three months of Apple TV under Apple’s current promotion. The offer has eligibility requirements and a redemption window, so it should be treated as a bonus attached to a qualifying purchase—not as a reason to buy expensive hardware solely to watch one race.
How to watch Formula 1 permanently free
Formula 1 Channel
The Formula 1 Channel is the most useful no-cost official option when you do not need to watch the race live. It is a free, ad-supported streaming channel with scheduled programming that can include:
- Current-season highlights
- Expert analysis and studio programming
- Documentaries
- Classic Grand Prix reruns
- Full replays of the previous race weekend
- F1 Academy programming and, under the renewed 2026 U.S. arrangement, live F1 Academy practice, qualifying, and races for the seven-round season
Formula 1 says current F1, F2, and F3 full replays and detailed highlights become available five days after each Grand Prix. That delay is important: the channel is a good free replay and highlights destination, but it is not a substitute for live coverage of the Formula 1 World Championship race.

Formula 1’s official video library
Formula 1’s official video pages publish free race and qualifying highlights, practice highlights, interviews, team-radio segments, technical analysis, and other short videos. These are legitimate and useful if you want to catch up quickly, but they are edited highlights—not a live stream or complete uninterrupted replay available immediately after every session.

What about Tubi’s free F1 altcasts?
Apple’s 2026 U.S. coverage announcement says Tubi will host creator-led live altcasts for selected races, beginning with Miami. An altcast is an alternative presentation with different commentators or a creator-led format. It should not be confused with the complete official F1 broadcast feed.
Because the events are selected individually, check Tubi’s current schedule before a particular race. A Tubi altcast may provide free live race-related coverage for that event, but it is not a guarantee that every race, every session, or the standard international broadcast will be available there.

No. A Roku, Fire TV, smart TV, or Apple TV 4K device gives you access to supported apps; it does not include the Apple TV subscription or unlock the live F1 rights at no cost.
If your television lacks a convenient supported app, the Roku Streaming Stick 4K is a sensible optional upgrade. Roku lists 4K streaming, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, long-range Wi-Fi, and HDMI connectivity for the model, and both the Apple TV app and Formula 1 Channel are available through the relevant Roku ecosystem. It can make the apps easier to use, but you would still need an eligible Apple TV trial or subscription for live 2026 F1 coverage.
Hardware note: buying a streaming stick does not include an Apple TV subscription, and app availability can vary by country and model.
Amazon Fire TV is another supported platform for the Apple TV app and Formula 1-related streaming services. If you already own a compatible Fire TV device, it may be all you need on the hardware side. If you are buying one, verify the exact model, Apple TV app availability, and current regional compatibility before checkout. The device is optional; it is not a free-race workaround.
An Apple TV 4K is the most integrated choice for people already using Apple devices, but it is a premium purchase and does not remove the Apple TV subscription requirement. It is therefore not the economical answer to a “watch F1 for free” question.

What changes outside the United States?
Formula 1 broadcasting rights are territorial. The service, content, features, and live-stream availability can differ by country because of local contracts and legal restrictions. F1 TV Pro is available only in selected countries, and the U.S. arrangement for 2026 should not be generalized to Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or any other market.
Readers outside the U.S. should use Formula 1’s official local “where to watch” information and check the broadcaster for their country. Do not assume that Apple TV, F1 TV Pro, or the Formula 1 Channel offers the same live coverage everywhere.
In the United States, F1 TV Premium is delivered through Apple TV in 2026 rather than functioning as an independent full-season live F1 subscription. Apple says F1 TV Premium remains available through an Apple TV subscription and is included for subscribers.

What to avoid when looking for a free F1 stream
- Unofficial rebroadcasts and mirror sites: These streams can disappear during the race and may not have permission to show the event.
- “Free IPTV” offers: They can expose you to deceptive advertising, malware, payment scams, or account theft, in addition to potential copyright issues.
- Old articles listing former broadcasters: U.S. rights changed for the 2026 season, so an article that recommends a previous service may be obsolete.
- Device-only promises: Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV hardware do not themselves provide free access to the live race.
- Confusing support-series coverage with F1: Live F1 Academy coverage is valuable, but it is not live Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix coverage.
Best option by situation
| Your situation | Recommended route |
|---|---|
| You want one live U.S. race and are eligible for a trial | Use the Apple TV seven-day trial, then cancel at least 24 hours before renewal if necessary |
| You want every 2026 U.S. race live | Use Apple TV’s paid subscription; the free trial is too short for a full season |
| You can watch several days later | Check the Formula 1 Channel for the previous weekend’s replay and highlights |
| You want quick race recaps | Use Formula 1’s official video pages |
| You want alternative commentary for a selected race | Check whether Tubi lists an F1 altcast for that event |
| You need to add streaming apps to an older television | Use a compatible Roku or Fire TV device, remembering that hardware does not replace the live subscription |
Bottom line
For U.S. viewers in 2026, the practical legal method to watch a live Formula 1 race without paying is an eligible Apple TV seven-day trial, started at the right time and canceled at least 24 hours before renewal. There is no general free live stream of every Grand Prix.
For ongoing free access, use the Formula 1 Channel and official F1 video pages for delayed replays, highlights, documentaries, and analysis. Check Tubi only for event-specific altcasts, and verify local rights if you are outside the United States.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I watch every Formula 1 race live for free in the U.S.?
No. In the United States, Apple TV is the exclusive broadcaster for the 2026 F1 season, and live coverage requires an eligible trial or subscription. The Formula 1 Channel provides free programming and delayed replays, not every Grand Prix live.

Is F1 TV free?
F1 TV is not a universally free service. Availability, content, and live features vary by country. In the United States in 2026, full-season F1 TV Premium access is delivered through an Apple TV subscription.
Does Roku include free Formula 1?
No. Roku provides access to supported apps, including the Apple TV app and Formula 1 Channel where available, but it does not include a free Apple TV subscription or unlock live F1 coverage.
Are unofficial free F1 streams safe or legal?
The safest approach is to use official broadcasters, the Formula 1 Channel, Formula 1’s official video pages, and confirmed event-specific services such as a listed Tubi altcast. Unofficial streams can disappear, contain deceptive ads or malware, and may not be authorized.
Does the Formula 1 Channel show the live F1 Grand Prix?
No. F1 Academy is a separate support series. The Formula 1 Channel’s 2026 live F1 Academy coverage does not mean that the main Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix is available live there.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: In the U.S., use an eligible Apple TV seven-day trial for a live 2026 F1 race, and cancel at least 24 hours before renewal if you do not want the $12.99-per-month subscription. For permanently free official content, use the Formula 1 Channel and F1’s video library—but expect delayed replays and highlights rather than every Grand Prix live.
