Yes—the Tesla Roadster can currently be reserved through Tesla’s official site, which displays “Reserve Now.” A reservation is not a vehicle order, however. Tesla’s reservation terms say it establishes an approximate priority only; Tesla later invites you to configure the car, creates an order and purchase agreement, and applies the reservation payment to the purchase price if you continue. The current materials do not state a firm production schedule, delivery date, production volume, or current reservation amount.
What a Tesla Roadster reservation actually does
The reservation is an early place in Tesla’s future ordering process, not a completed purchase. The Roadster Reservation Agreement Terms & Conditions state: “While this Reservation secures your approximate priority, it does not constitute the purchase or order of a vehicle.” That distinction affects what you can expect after paying.

- A path to configure the Roadster when Tesla opens that stage for you.

- A final vehicle specification or final price.
- A completed purchase agreement or ordinary new-vehicle order.
- A guarantee that the vehicle will be delivered by a particular year or month.
Tesla’s current Roadster page lists performance and range figures but does not publish a firm production or delivery schedule. Treat any timing shown during the live reservation or ordering flow as the controlling information for your market, and save a copy of the terms presented before submitting payment.

These figures do not establish when production begins, how many cars Tesla will build, what equipment will be standard, or what the final price will be. Those details must come from the configuration and purchase documents made available to you.
Before you pay: verify the live reservation terms
The amount and conditions shown in Tesla’s checkout flow are more important than figures quoted elsewhere. Tesla’s terms explain the reservation process, while Tesla’s general ordering support separately describes a one-time non-refundable order fee for a new-vehicle order. Do not assume that a Roadster reservation payment and a later order fee are the same charge.
Record the amount and currency
Write down the exact amount, currency, taxes and payment method displayed immediately before submission. The current reviewed materials do not state a universal Roadster reservation amount, so an amount from another country, an older page or an unofficial forum may not apply to you.

Read the cancellation and refund language in the agreement presented for your location. Confirm whether a refund is automatic, requires a request, is subject to a deadline, or is unavailable after a particular event. Do not infer refundability from the word “reservation” or from Tesla’s general order-fee policy.
Separate the reservation from the later order
Tesla’s terms say the company will later invite configuration, create an order and issue a purchase agreement. Tesla’s general ordering support says a new-vehicle order has a one-time non-refundable order fee. Ask Tesla support to identify each charge in writing if the live flow shows more than one payment, and keep receipts for both.

Understand that the displayed price is provisional
The reservation terms describe the estimated purchase price as an estimate until configuration is confirmed. A reservation therefore does not lock in a final total. When configuration opens, review the complete price, selected equipment, taxes, transport and delivery charges, and any other fees before accepting the purchase agreement.
Save evidence of what you accepted
- Download or print the reservation agreement and checkout summary.
- Save the confirmation email, receipt, reservation identifier and account details.
- Record the date, market, delivery location and amount paid.
- Keep screenshots of any timing, cancellation or refund language shown in the live flow.
How to reserve the Roadster
The exact screens can change by country and account, so use the labels shown in your Tesla account rather than an old walkthrough. The process follows this order:
- Open Tesla’s official Roadster page. Confirm that the page identifies the Roadster and displays the current “Reserve Now” option.
- Sign in or create the required Tesla account. Use the email address and legal name you expect to use for registration and the purchase agreement.
- Select your market and delivery location. Location can affect currency, taxes, available configurations, registration requirements and delivery charges.
- Review the reservation agreement. Read the priority language, estimated-price wording, payment amount, cancellation terms, refund rules and any jurisdiction-specific provisions.
- Check the payment summary. Verify the currency, taxes, processing charges and whether the displayed payment is labeled a reservation payment or an order fee.
- Submit payment only after saving the documents. Complete the transaction through Tesla’s official account flow and retain the confirmation.
- Verify the reservation in your account. Make sure the reservation appears under the correct account and that the contact details and delivery location are accurate.
If the page does not show a clear amount, refund rule or delivery-market choice, pause rather than guessing. Contact Tesla through the support channel attached to your account and ask for the applicable terms for your country.
What happens after reserving
Tesla’s terms describe a later transition from reservation to order. Until Tesla invites that transition, you should treat the reservation as pending priority rather than an active vehicle order.
Invitation to configure
Tesla says it will invite the reservation holder to configure the vehicle. At that point, review every available version, option and included item. Configuration is the stage at which the estimated price can become a specific purchase price.

Order and purchase agreement
After configuration, Tesla creates an order and issues a purchase agreement. Read the agreement as a new contract: confirm the vehicle identity, selected equipment, price, taxes, delivery or transport charges, payment schedule and cancellation provisions. The reservation payment is applied toward the purchase price if you proceed, according to the reservation terms.

The reviewed Roadster materials do not provide a firm production or delivery date. A reservation confirmation alone therefore cannot tell you when the car will be built. Keep your contact information current so that an invitation or update reaches you, and do not make irreversible travel, financing or trade-in decisions based solely on an informal estimate.
Ordering and delivery tasks in the Tesla app
Once Tesla has created an order, the Tesla app becomes the place to complete outstanding tasks and follow delivery progress. Tesla’s delivery guidance says the app can be used to provide or confirm the following information, where applicable:
- Open the order task list. Complete each item marked as pending rather than waiting for a separate email.
- Confirm registration details. Check the legal name, address and other information Tesla needs for registration in your jurisdiction.
- Confirm the delivery location. Make sure the selected location is practical for you and matches the market in which the vehicle will be registered.
- Upload insurance information. Provide the required proof of insurance for the vehicle and jurisdiction when the app requests it.
- Enter financing information, if applicable. Follow the app’s instructions for lender details, approval documents or payment arrangements. If you are paying without financing, verify the final-payment instructions instead.
- Provide trade-in information, if applicable. Submit the requested vehicle details and inspect the resulting trade-in terms before accepting them.
- Review the final amount due. Reconcile the purchase agreement, credits, taxes, delivery charges and any prior reservation payment. Resolve discrepancies before the appointment.
- Watch for the estimated delivery window. Tesla says the app displays an estimated window and notifies you when an appointment can be scheduled.
- Schedule the appointment when invited. Choose an available time only after confirming that your payment, insurance, registration and financing tasks are complete.
Keep copies of submitted documents and note when each task changes to complete. If a task remains blocked or the app shows conflicting information, use Tesla’s official support process before scheduling travel.
How to compare Roadster choices if Tesla shows more than one
If the live flow presents multiple configurations or reservation choices, compare them using the same fields. A lower displayed starting price may not have the same equipment, delivery charge or cancellation terms as another choice.

If a field is not stated in the live configuration, treat it as unresolved and ask Tesla before paying. Do not fill a missing value with a figure from a different market or an earlier Roadster announcement.
Preparing for delivery day
Arrange the practical prerequisites before you accept an appointment. Your goal is to be able to verify the ordered vehicle, complete the paperwork and document any discrepancy while you are still at the delivery location.
Bring or have ready
- Government identification and any documents Tesla lists for your market.
- Proof of insurance meeting local requirements.
- Financing or payment confirmation, if applicable.
- Trade-in documents and keys, if you are completing a trade-in.
- Your order and purchase-agreement copies, reservation receipt and delivery appointment details.
- A charged phone with the Tesla app signed in.
Allow enough inspection time
Do not schedule the appointment so tightly that you must accept the car without checking it. Choose daylight or well-lit conditions when possible, and bring a clean cloth and a phone capable of taking clear photographs. These are practical inspection aids, not substitutes for Tesla’s delivery process or local consumer law.

Tesla’s published delivery guidance addresses documents, payment and scheduling but does not provide a Roadster-specific inspection checklist. Use your signed configuration and purchase agreement as the standard for what should be delivered, then work through the vehicle systematically.

1. Confirm identity and configuration
- Match the vehicle identification number (VIN), or the identity information Tesla provides, to your order documents.
- Confirm the model, configuration, exterior color, interior, wheels and other selected equipment.
- Check that any promised accessories or charging equipment are present.
- Verify that the delivery location and registration details match the paperwork.
2. Inspect the exterior
- Walk around the car for paint scratches, chips, dents, color mismatch, overspray or uneven finish.
- Check panel gaps, doors, hood, trunk and closures for alignment and smooth operation.
- Inspect the windshield, windows, mirrors, lights and lenses for cracks, chips or damage.
- Examine wheels and tires for curb marks, cuts, bulges, incorrect fitment or visible damage.
- Look underneath the vehicle, where visible, for transport damage or fluid leaks.
3. Inspect the interior
- Check seats, trim, headliner, carpets and door panels for tears, stains, scuffs or loose parts.
- Operate doors, windows, locks, seat adjustments, mirrors, lights and other controls.
- Confirm that the displays start normally and that the vehicle shows the expected configuration.
- Check climate controls, audio, cameras and driver-assistance interfaces for warning messages or obvious faults.
- Verify that floor mats, manuals and other listed interior items are included.
4. Check charging and supplied equipment
- Confirm that the charging equipment and cables listed in your order are present.
- Inspect connectors, plugs and cable insulation for damage.
- Ask which charging equipment is included, optional or unavailable for your configuration rather than assuming a particular accessory is standard.
5. Reconcile documents and payment
- Compare the VIN and configuration on the final paperwork with the car in front of you.
- Check the final price, reservation-payment credit, taxes, delivery or transport charges and any trade-in credit.
- Confirm registration information, insurance status and lender details where applicable.
- Do not sign a document you cannot reconcile with the purchase agreement; ask Tesla staff to explain or correct discrepancies.
6. Photograph and report discrepancies
Photograph each issue before leaving, including a wide shot showing its location and close-ups showing the detail. Note the date, vehicle identity, panel or component, and the person to whom you reported it. Submit the issue through Tesla’s official support process and keep the case number or written response. Ask what will be corrected, by whom and when, and retain the written commitment.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming a reservation is an order
The reservation terms expressly distinguish approximate priority from a vehicle order. Wait for the configuration invitation, order and purchase agreement before treating the vehicle as contractually ordered.
Assuming the deposit is refundable
Refundability depends on the live agreement for your transaction. Read that agreement and obtain clarification before paying; do not rely on a general statement about another Tesla fee.
Using an old price or delivery promise
The reviewed materials do not state a current universal Roadster price or firm delivery date. Use the amount and timing Tesla displays for your market and configuration at the time of action.
Confusing the reservation payment with the order fee
Tesla’s general ordering support identifies a one-time non-refundable fee for a new-vehicle order, while the Roadster reservation terms govern the earlier reservation payment. Request a line-by-line explanation if both appear in your account.
Arriving without completed app tasks
Registration, insurance, financing, trade-in and final-payment tasks can affect whether delivery can proceed. Complete the app checklist and resolve blocked items before traveling to the delivery location.
Skipping the inspection because the car is rare
Scarcity or a long wait does not replace verification. Confirm identity, configuration, condition, equipment and paperwork before accepting delivery, and document anything that differs from the agreement.
Decision checklist before committing money
- The live page is the official Tesla Roadster reservation flow for your market.
- You know the exact reservation amount, currency, taxes and payment method.
- You have read the cancellation and refund terms that apply to this payment.
- You understand that reservation priority is approximate and is not an order.
- You know whether a separate order fee will apply later and whether it is non-refundable.
- You have saved the reservation terms, receipt and confirmation.
- You can fund the eventual purchase, taxes, transport and delivery charges if Tesla invites you to order.
- You have a plan for insurance, registration, financing and any trade-in.
- You will use the Tesla app to complete tasks and monitor the delivery window.
- You will inspect the vehicle and reconcile the paperwork before accepting it.
Bottom line: reserve only with the live terms in front of you
Tesla currently accepts Roadster reservations through a “Reserve Now” flow, but the payment buys approximate priority rather than a guaranteed car, price or date. The reservation amount and refund rules must be verified in the agreement shown to you; Tesla’s separate non-refundable new-vehicle order fee should not be confused with that reservation payment. If Tesla later invites you to configure and order, complete every Tesla-app task, wait for the delivery window and inspect the vehicle, equipment and documents against your purchase agreement before accepting delivery.
