Confirm your exact C-Class Electric variant and market, enter the complete journey in Mercedes-Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence, inspect every suggested charging stop, then recheck the plan for weather, speed, elevation, passengers, luggage and available chargers. Mercedes-Benz publishes up to 762 km of WLTP range for the C 400 4MATIC electric, but that certified-cycle maximum is not a promise for your motorway journey.
Start with the exact car, market and equipment
There is no single global specification called simply “the C-Class Electric.” Mercedes-Benz introduced the battery-electric C-Class in 2026, with launch communications focused on the C 400 4MATIC electric. A September 2026 German release separately describes the C 300 4MATIC electric. Mercedes-Benz says the market launch starts in the United States, while the German release says the C 300 4MATIC electric is available to order in Germany. Availability, standard equipment, charging connector and network access can therefore differ by country.

Before planning, record the information shown on your order, registration or vehicle screen:
- Exact variant, such as C 400 4MATIC electric or C 300 4MATIC electric.
- Model year and delivery market.
- Battery state of charge at departure.
- Connector and cable supplied with your vehicle.
- Wheel, tyre and optional-equipment configuration.
- Whether your route crosses a border with different charging standards, payment rules or network coverage.
Do not assume that a figure or cable described for one market applies to another. The German C 300 information and the UK charging information are useful examples of why the vehicle’s local specification must come first.

Published figures and what they apply to
| Figure | Applies to | How to use it when planning |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 762 km WLTP | C 400 4MATIC electric; Mercedes-Benz, 2026 | Use as a certified-cycle reference, never as a guaranteed distance for a particular leg. |
| 94 kWh usable battery energy | C 400 4MATIC electric; Mercedes-Benz launch material, 2026 | Shows the stated usable-energy capacity; it does not predict consumption on your route. |
| Up to 325 km of range in 10 minutes | C 400 4MATIC electric; Mercedes-Benz claim, 2026 | Retain “up to.” Actual energy added depends on the car, battery conditions and charging facility. |
| 22 minutes from 10% to 80% state of charge | Listed configurations in Mercedes-Benz German product information, 2026 | Do not substitute this configuration-specific DC claim for the separate 10-minute range claim. |
| 17.8–14.1 kWh/100 km combined | C 300 4MATIC electric in the September 2026 German release | Variant- and market-specific certified consumption, not an individual-trip forecast. |
| Up to 11 kW AC onboard charging | Mercedes-Benz UK product information | Relevant to compatible AC destinations in that market; verify your car’s equipment. |
Define the journey before asking the planner for stops
Enter the actual origin, final destination and any unavoidable intermediate stops. Include the address where you will park overnight or spend time; a nearby public charger is not automatically at the destination. Add realistic departure conditions, including the battery percentage you expect at departure, passengers, luggage and a trailer if applicable.
Decide what matters most for this drive. The fastest route may use a different number of charging stops than the most comfortable route. A stop beside food, a restroom or a safe, well-lit parking area can be preferable to a marginally shorter stop in an inconvenient location. If you need to arrive with a particular reserve, treat that reserve as a requirement when reviewing the planner’s result rather than assuming the system’s default is suitable.
Collect the variables that change energy use
- Weather: Cold temperatures can reduce available range and make battery conditioning important; heat can increase cooling demand.
- Speed and traffic: Sustained high speed generally consumes more energy than slower mixed driving. Congestion can also alter consumption through repeated acceleration and climate use.
- Terrain: Long climbs, mountain passes and strong headwinds can make a planned leg use more energy than a flat route of the same length.
- Cabin conditioning: Heating or cooling the cabin draws energy, especially when used continuously in extreme temperatures.
- Tyres and wheels: Pressure, seasonal tyres, wheel size and tyre condition affect efficiency.
- Payload and equipment: Passengers, luggage, roof equipment and optional features add mass or aerodynamic drag.
- Battery age: Usable capacity changes as the battery ages.
These are the same categories Mercedes-Benz identifies when explaining why a certified range figure can differ from an individual journey. If the forecast, load or driving plan changes materially, recalculate rather than preserving yesterday’s route.

Enter the route in Navigation with Electric Intelligence
Mercedes-Benz describes Navigation with Electric Intelligence as an integrated planner that selects a fast and comfortable route and adds charging stops when required. Its launch announcement says the system considers numerous factors and responds dynamically to traffic jams or changes in driving style. Treat that as a manufacturer-described feature: the planner is the right starting point, but you remain responsible for checking whether each proposed stop works for your vehicle and trip.

- Open the vehicle’s navigation system. Use the car’s built-in navigation rather than entering only a destination in a separate phone app. The integrated system can use the vehicle’s current state of charge and its own range estimate.
- Enter the complete destination. Use the exact address or a saved destination, then add required waypoints. Omitting a final detour can produce charging stops that are impractical once the real route is restored.
- Set departure information. Confirm the current battery percentage and, where the system offers the setting, the intended departure charge. Check that passenger and load assumptions match the journey.
- Let the planner calculate. Mercedes-Benz says the system includes charging stops when they are eventually required and can adapt to traffic and driving-style changes. Wait for the route and predicted charging legs to appear before judging whether the trip is feasible.
- Inspect the whole route. Expand the route details so you can see each leg, arrival state-of-charge estimate, proposed charger and planned charging duration. Do not approve a trip based only on the total arrival time.
- Save or note the plan. Record the planned stop order and destination address. This gives you a reference if the route is recalculated after departure or a charger becomes unavailable.
Mercedes-Benz states: “Mercedes‑Benz Navigation with Electric Intelligence plans the fastest and most comfortable route, including charging stops when they are eventually required, based on numerous factors.” It also says: “It responds dynamically to traffic jams or changes in driving style.” These are manufacturer statements from the April 20, 2026 launch material, not independent test results.
Review every proposed charging leg
The planner’s current estimate is more useful for a particular trip than the maximum WLTP number. For every leg, check four values together: distance, predicted arrival charge, the next compatible charging location and the time allocated to charge. A leg that fits on paper may be uncomfortable if it leaves little reserve for a cold headwind, a missed exit or a queue.
Compare route alternatives by the things that affect your day
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| How many charging stops? | Fewer stops can shorten total dwell time, while more stops can provide a larger safety margin and easier breaks. |
| Where are the stops placed? | A stop near food, restrooms or a safe parking area may suit your passengers better than an isolated site. |
| What charge is predicted on arrival? | A higher predicted reserve gives more flexibility if consumption rises or the charger is busy. |
| Does the charging duration fit your break? | A nominally fast stop is useful only if the station and vehicle can deliver the required power under current conditions. |
| What is the total travel time? | Compare driving time plus charging and expected detours, not driving time alone. |
If an alternative route has a slightly longer drive but a reliable break location and a healthier predicted arrival charge, it may be the better long-distance choice. The supplied Mercedes-Benz information does not provide live charger uptime, prices or an itinerary-specific calculation, so those details must be verified for your date and route.

The C 400 4MATIC electric’s published maximum of up to 762 km is a WLTP result. WLTP is a standardized certification cycle; it is not a promise that a fully charged car will travel 762 km at motorway speed with heating on, passengers aboard and a mountain crossing ahead. Use it to understand the vehicle’s rated capability, then use the in-car estimate for the actual departure conditions.

Mercedes-Benz also states 94 kWh of usable battery energy for the C 400 4MATIC electric. Dividing that number by a consumption assumption can produce a rough theoretical distance, but Mercedes-Benz’s published information does not establish a single real-world consumption value for the C 400, and using the C 300’s German certified figure for another variant would be misleading. Let the vehicle’s current estimate and route planner perform the trip-specific calculation.
Recalculate when the trip changes
- Recheck the route after a weather change, mountain detour or major traffic delay.
- Watch the predicted arrival charge during the first part of the journey. If it falls faster than expected, select the next suitable stop earlier.
- Reduce unnecessary speed and aggressive acceleration if you need to protect the reserve.
- Use cabin preconditioning while connected to a charger when that function and local conditions permit; verify the vehicle’s instructions for operation.
- Keep tyre pressures at the manufacturer’s recommended values and remove unnecessary cargo.
Battery ageing, temperature and load can all move the estimate. A route that was comfortable when the car was new and lightly loaded may require an earlier stop later in its life.
Choose the right charging stop and verify access
Do not select a stop solely because it appears on the map. Confirm that the charger’s connector matches your vehicle in the relevant market and that its charging type suits the time you have. A high-power DC stop is normally chosen for a road-trip break; an AC destination charger can be useful when the car will remain parked for hours.
DC charging claims need their conditions
Mercedes-Benz says the C 400 4MATIC electric can add up to 325 km of range in 10 minutes under the manufacturer’s stated conditions. “Up to” is essential: the result depends on battery state and temperature, the charger’s delivered power, the vehicle’s charging curve and whether the facility is operating normally. It is not a guaranteed 10-minute stop duration.

- √ Charging Standard: Type 2 IEC 62196-2
- √ Charging Power: 7kW, Single phase
- √ Input/Output Voltage: 230~250V AC
- √ Rated Current: 32A
- √ Cable Length: 5m
Mercedes-Benz German product information lists 22 minutes for DC charging from 10% to 80% state of charge for listed configurations. That is a different measurement from adding up to 325 km in 10 minutes, and it should not be transferred automatically to a different variant, market or charger.
AC charging for longer stays
Mercedes-Benz UK lists onboard AC charging up to 11 kW and access to public AC stations. AC is appropriate when the car will stay parked for a meal, workday or overnight period, provided the destination equipment and vehicle connector are compatible. Charging speed can be limited by the station, the cable, the vehicle’s onboard charger and local electrical installation.
A portable Type 2 cable may be useful in markets and vehicles that use that connector, but Mercedes-Benz’s published information does not establish that every C-Class Electric includes one or that Type 2 applies globally. Check the cable supplied with your car and the destination charger before buying or packing anything.
Verify payment and station status
Check the station’s current availability, connector type, access hours and payment method shortly before departure. Mercedes-Benz names MB.CHARGE Public in UK product information; that reference does not prove that a particular station is open, compatible or included in a specific account plan. Carry a backup option when the next stop is remote or the predicted arrival reserve is low.

Plan destination charging separately
Road-trip planning often focuses on the next DC stop and forgets the final night. If you need the car ready for the return journey, identify a compatible AC point at the hotel, home or workplace before leaving. Ask the destination for the connector, maximum power, parking rules and whether a cable is supplied. An 11 kW-capable vehicle may charge more slowly if the destination circuit or charger is limited.
When no destination charger is available, include the nearest public station in the route plan and allow time to move the car after charging if the site has parking limits. Do not assume that a charger shown near an address is on the property or accessible after hours.
Manage the trip while driving
Keep the navigation route active so the vehicle can update its estimate as traffic and driving conditions change. Mercedes-Benz says Navigation with Electric Intelligence responds dynamically to traffic jams and changes in driving style. Treat a changed estimate as a prompt to review the next stop, not as a guarantee that every station will remain available.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf consumption is higher than expected
- Reduce speed smoothly and avoid unnecessary acceleration.
- Check whether heating, cooling, roof equipment, tyre pressure or extra load explains the change.
- Open the route details and choose an earlier compatible charger if the predicted arrival reserve is falling.
- Recheck station access and payment before committing to the detour.
If a planned charger is unavailable
- Do not continue until the remaining range supports the next verified option.
- Use the vehicle’s updated route to search for another compatible stop.
- Prefer a station that leaves a reserve for traffic, weather and a short detour.
- If the car’s estimate becomes critical, follow local roadside-assistance guidance rather than attempting to reach a charger beyond the displayed range.
A practical planning worksheet
Complete this checklist the day before departure and review it again immediately before leaving:
- Vehicle: variant, market, model year, current battery percentage and connector.
- People and load: passenger count, luggage, roof equipment and trailer status.
- Conditions: forecast temperature, wind, precipitation, elevation and expected traffic.
- Route: exact origin, destination and mandatory waypoints entered in the car.
- Stops: each proposed charger’s connector, charging type, payment method, opening access and a backup.
- Breaks: whether each stop has the food, restroom and parking facilities your group needs.
- Destination: compatible AC or DC charging, cable responsibility, parking duration and access hours.
- Contingency: the earliest point at which you will switch to the backup charger if the estimate worsens.
Keep the worksheet specific to the date and market. Station status, weather and traffic can change after the plan is saved.
