To pair a phone with a Hyundai BAYON, park safely, open the car’s Bluetooth or device-connection menu, choose Add New, select the vehicle name on your phone, and accept the matching passkey on both screens. Grant contact or message permissions only if you want those features. This Bluetooth pairing enables hands-free calls and Bluetooth audio; Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are separate phone-projection setup steps.
Before you start
Pairing should be performed while the BAYON is stationary. Hyundai’s infotainment manual gives this safety instruction: “Park the vehicle at a safe place before connecting a Bluetooth device to the system.” Do not try to complete setup while driving.

- Keep the phone in the car with its Bluetooth setting available.
- Turn the vehicle on or switch the infotainment system to its normal operating state.
- Remove distractions and have the phone’s screen unlocked if it requests confirmation.
- Know that menu names vary by model year, market, trim and installed infotainment unit.
A BAYON with one infotainment system may show Bluetooth Connections, while another shows Device Connections or Phone connections. The steps below describe the common Hyundai process; use the manual that matches your vehicle when a label differs.
How to pair a phone with BAYON Bluetooth
1. Open the car’s Bluetooth or device-connection menu
From the infotainment home screen, open Setup. Depending on the unit, continue through one of these routes:

- Setup → Bluetooth → Bluetooth Connection → Add New
- Setup → Device Connections → Device Connections → Add New
- A similarly named Phone connections or Bluetooth Connection screen with an Add New command
These are representative paths, not a universal button sequence for every BAYON. The important point is to reach the screen that is actively searching for a new device. Leave that screen open while you use the phone.
2. Turn on Bluetooth and select the BAYON
On the phone, open Bluetooth settings and switch Bluetooth on. Start a scan for nearby devices if the phone does not scan automatically. In the results, tap the vehicle or infotainment name displayed on the BAYON’s Add New screen. The exact name can differ between systems, so select the entry that corresponds to the name shown by the car rather than a remembered name from another vehicle.
3. Check the passkey before accepting
The car and phone should display an authentication code. Compare the codes character for character. If they match, approve pairing on the phone and on the vehicle if the infotainment system asks for a second confirmation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →There is no universal Hyundai PIN that you should enter instead. The described process uses the passkey generated and displayed during that pairing attempt. If the numbers do not match, cancel the request and start again from Add New.
4. Choose contact and message permissions
After the devices pair, the phone may ask whether the vehicle can access contacts, call history or messages. Allow access only for features you want. Contact access is needed for downloading the phone book and displaying names when you call or receive a call; message notifications likewise require permission on systems that support them.
If you initially deny access, you can usually change the decision in the phone’s Bluetooth settings by opening the saved BAYON connection and enabling the relevant sharing options. The wording and available switches depend on the phone’s operating system.
5. Confirm the connection
The BAYON should place the phone in its registered-device list. Make a short test call while parked, then select a local audio file or other Bluetooth audio source to confirm that sound is routed through the car. If you do not want contacts or messages in the car, keep those permissions disabled; basic Bluetooth pairing can still be used for supported calls and audio.

Connecting a phone that is already registered
A phone that has been paired previously normally appears in the infotainment system’s saved-device list. Open the Bluetooth or device-connection screen, select that phone, and choose Connect if it is not already active. The phone’s Bluetooth must be switched on.
Many Hyundai systems reconnect to a registered phone automatically when it is nearby. Automatic reconnection, connection priority and the number of devices that can remain registered depend on the infotainment specification. If more than one saved phone is present, the system may connect according to its priority order; selecting the desired phone manually is the reliable way to change the active device.
Bluetooth pairing versus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
Bluetooth and phone projection are different functions:
| Setup path | What it provides | What it does not provide | Connection requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio on supported phones and infotainment systems | It does not by itself place phone apps, navigation or messages on the vehicle screen | Bluetooth enabled on the phone and a completed pairing |
| Wired Android Auto or Apple CarPlay | Supported phone apps and functions on the infotainment display | It is not the same as ordinary Bluetooth audio pairing | A compatible phone, a compatible BAYON system and a suitable USB connection |
| Wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay | Phone projection without a USB cable on systems that support it | It is not available on every year, trim or infotainment unit | A compatible phone and vehicle system, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on the phone |
Hyundai places Android Auto and Apple CarPlay controls in phone-projection settings separate from Bluetooth settings. Pairing your phone for calls therefore does not guarantee that maps or other supported apps will appear on the BAYON screen.

Setting up wired phone projection
If your BAYON and phone support wired Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, connect the phone to the vehicle’s supported USB data port. Use the phone maker’s supplied or otherwise approved USB cable, with a connector that matches the phone. A cable is relevant to this projection method; it is not required for Bluetooth calls or Bluetooth audio.
- Pair the phone over Bluetooth first if the infotainment system requests it, then leave the phone unlocked.
- Connect the phone to the compatible USB port with the approved cable.
- Accept the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay prompts on the phone and the vehicle screen.
- Open the phone-projection icon or menu on the infotainment display if it does not launch automatically.
If the phone charges but projection does not start, the cable may support power only, the port may not be the data port, or the vehicle and phone may not support that projection mode. Try the cable supplied with the phone and verify the projection setting in the correct BAYON manual.
Setting up wireless phone projection
Wireless projection requires support from both the phone and the installed BAYON infotainment system. On the phone, leave both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled. In the vehicle, open the phone-projection settings and follow the displayed pairing prompts. The exact order can differ: some systems begin in the car’s projection menu, while others start with a phone notification after Bluetooth discovery.

Enjoy tug-free, snag-free experience whether you're driving, working, or relaxing. Note: This is a USB-A to USB-C cable. It is not a USB-C to USB-C cable or a Lightning cable
- Plug & Play Perfection | Our USB A to C cable is compatible with: iPhone 17/16/15 series; Samsung Galaxy S, Note, and A series; Google Pixel; LG; Moto; OnePlus —fully compatible with Android phones—; power banks; and other USB-C devices. 3-Step CarPlay Fix: Connect to factory USB port (not cigarette lighter/aftermarket hubs), Unlock phone → tap "Trust" on pop-up (first connection only), Update system: iOS 9+ or Android 5.0+
Do not infer wireless capability from the presence of Bluetooth alone. Hyundai’s general system documentation describes wired and wireless projection as separate possibilities, and availability depends on vehicle specification. If the projection menu does not offer a wireless option, the installed unit may support only a wired connection even though ordinary Bluetooth works.

What BAYON model and market differences mean
Hyundai does not use one identical infotainment interface in every BAYON. Menu labels, screen layouts, supported projection modes and device limits can change with model year, market, trim and installed hardware. A current Hyundai Europe and Hyundai UK feature description lists a 10.25-inch centre touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the BAYON in those regions. That regional description should not be treated as proof that every BAYON worldwide, every earlier year or every trim has the same screen or wireless capability.
Use the manual for the exact vehicle rather than relying on a path copied from another BAYON. The UK manual index lists a BAYON audio-video-navigation manual covering 2017-present and an owner manual covering 2021-present; Hyundai Greece separately lists BC3 CUV manuals for 2021 and 2025. These listings illustrate why the correct market and model year matter when a menu appears to be missing.
| Variable | Why it can change the instructions | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Model year | Infotainment hardware and software may be revised | The year shown in the vehicle documents and the matching manual |
| Market | Feature packages and menu translations differ by country | The country-specific Hyundai manual or support page |
| Trim and options | Screen size, USB ports and projection support may not be identical | The equipment installed in your car, not only the model name |
| Phone model and operating system | Permission dialogs and projection compatibility vary | Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and the relevant Android Auto or Apple CarPlay support |
Troubleshooting BAYON Bluetooth pairing
The BAYON does not appear in the phone’s Bluetooth list
- Return to the car’s Bluetooth Connection, Device Connections or equivalent menu and select Add New. A phone may not see the car while the infotainment system is not in new-device mode.
- Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled on the phone and run a fresh scan.
- Move the phone close to the infotainment unit and cancel old or incomplete requests before trying again.
The passkey prompt fails or the codes differ
Cancel the request on both devices and restart from Add New. Accept only when the code shown by the phone matches the code shown by the BAYON. Do not substitute a default PIN.
Calls work, but contacts are missing
Open the phone’s saved Bluetooth connection for the BAYON and check contact-sharing or phone-book permission. If access was denied, enable it and reconnect. Contact downloads can require a separate permission even when the audio connection itself is working.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA previously paired phone will not reconnect
- Switch Bluetooth on and unlock the phone.
- Open the BAYON’s registered-device list and select the saved phone manually.
- Choose Connect and wait for the connection indicator.
- If another saved phone connects first, disconnect it or adjust the system’s device priority where that option is available.
The connection is unstable
Toggle Bluetooth off and on at the phone, then retry. If instability continues, delete the BAYON registration from the phone and remove the phone from the car’s saved-device list, then pair again as a new device. Hyundai manuals describe this removal-and-repair process, but the delete command may be labelled Delete, Remove or similar on different systems.
Bluetooth works, but Android Auto or Apple CarPlay is unavailable
- Check that the BAYON infotainment system and phone support the requested projection feature.
- Open the car’s phone-projection settings; Bluetooth settings alone will not activate projection.
- For wired projection, try the phone maker’s approved data cable and the vehicle’s compatible USB port.
- For wireless projection, confirm that the feature is offered by the installed system and that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on the phone.
If the projection option is absent altogether, consult the manual for the exact model year, market and infotainment unit before replacing cables or resetting the phone.

Removing a phone from the BAYON
To stop automatic reconnection, remove the registration from both sides. In the car, open the saved-device list, select the phone and use the system’s Delete or Remove command. On the phone, open Bluetooth settings, select the BAYON entry and choose Forget or Unpair. Removing only one side can leave a stale record that complicates the next pairing attempt.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical setup decision
Choose the setup that matches the feature you actually need:
- For calls and music only, complete Bluetooth pairing and set contact permissions to your preference.
- For navigation and supported apps on the car’s display, use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay through the wired or wireless method your BAYON supports.
- For a system mismatch, identify the BAYON’s year, market and infotainment unit first; then follow that unit’s manual instead of assuming that another BAYON has the same menus.
The reliable sequence is always the same at its core: put the car in new-device mode, select the vehicle from the phone, verify the displayed passkey, and grant only the permissions you want. Projection is an additional feature check, not an automatic consequence of Bluetooth pairing.
Privacy and shared-car considerations
Contact and message sharing is optional. If the BAYON is used by more than one driver, decide whether names, call history and message notifications should be visible on the vehicle screen before accepting permissions. A driver who wants only music can decline contact or message access and still use supported Bluetooth audio. If the phone is sold, lent out or replaced, remove its registration from the car and forget the BAYON on the phone so the old device does not reconnect later.
Common setup mistakes to avoid
- Pairing while moving: stop in a safe place first; the setup screens can distract you.
- Looking for a default PIN: use the matching code displayed for that pairing attempt.
- Choosing a remembered vehicle name: select the entry shown by the BAYON’s current Add New screen.
- Expecting Bluetooth to launch maps: projection must be enabled separately and supported by both devices.
- Using a charge-only cable: wired projection needs a suitable data cable and compatible USB port.
- Assuming a 10.25-inch screen proves wireless projection: the feature description for some European and UK BAYON versions does not establish equipment for every market, year or trim.
- Deleting only one pairing record: remove the connection on both the phone and the vehicle when starting over.
How to identify the right manual
When instructions do not match your screen, note the vehicle’s model year, country of sale, trim and the infotainment unit fitted to the dashboard. Hyundai’s UK index lists an audio-video-navigation manual for BAYON vehicles from 2017 onward and an owner manual from 2021 onward, while Hyundai Greece lists BC3 CUV manuals for 2021 and 2025. Those ranges are useful indexes, not proof that one interface covers every car. Use the manual corresponding to your market and equipment before concluding that a function is missing.
Quick checklist
- Park safely.
- Open the BAYON’s Bluetooth or device-connection screen.
- Select Add New.
- Turn on phone Bluetooth and choose the vehicle name shown by the car.
- Compare and accept the displayed passkey.
- Allow contacts or messages only if wanted.
- Test a call or Bluetooth audio source while stationary.
- Configure Android Auto or Apple CarPlay separately, using wired or wireless projection only when the exact system supports it.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect my phone to my Hyundai BAYON?
Park safely, open Setup and the BAYON’s Bluetooth or Device Connections menu, choose Add New, turn on Bluetooth on the phone, select the vehicle name shown by the car, compare the passkey on both screens and accept it. Choose contact or message permissions according to your preference.
How do I pair my phone with BAYON Bluetooth?
Start pairing from the car, not only from the phone: open Bluetooth Connection or Device Connections and select Add New. Then select the BAYON on the phone and approve the matching authentication code. Menu labels vary by vehicle.

Why won’t my phone connect to my Hyundai BAYON?
Confirm that the car is in Add New mode and the phone’s Bluetooth is on. If the devices still fail to connect, cancel old requests, toggle Bluetooth off and on, remove the BAYON registration from both devices and pair again.
Why do calls work but my contacts are missing?
The phone likely did not grant contact or phone-book access. Open the saved BAYON Bluetooth connection in the phone’s settings, enable the relevant sharing permission and reconnect. Audio pairing can work even when contact access is denied.
Does the Hyundai BAYON have wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?
Availability depends on model year, market, trim and installed infotainment system. Some Hyundai documentation describes wired and wireless projection, while regional BAYON feature pages list Apple CarPlay and Android Auto without proving wireless support for every vehicle. Check the exact manual and projection menu.
Recommended Free Tools
Do I need a USB cable to pair Bluetooth?
No. Bluetooth calls and Bluetooth audio do not require a cable. An approved, phone-maker-supplied data cable is relevant only when using a supported wired Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connection.
What should I do if the passkey codes do not match?
Cancel the request on both devices and restart from the car’s Add New screen. Accept pairing only when the code displayed on the phone matches the code displayed by the BAYON; do not enter a generic PIN.
How do I remove an old phone from the BAYON?
Delete or remove the phone from the BAYON’s registered-device list, then open Bluetooth settings on the phone and choose Forget or Unpair for the BAYON. Removing both records prevents stale automatic reconnection.
The Bottom Line
For Hyundai BAYON Bluetooth, start in the car’s Add New screen, select the displayed vehicle name on your phone, verify the matching passkey and grant only the permissions you want. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are separate projection features whose wired or wireless availability depends on the exact BAYON year, market, trim and infotainment system.
