What you need to find before dispatch
A Tesla Semi route has two separate location questions: where the truck can charge during the trip, and where it can receive service. They use different workflows.

- Charging: Find Megachargers on the Semi touchscreen map or in the Tesla app. Semi Trip Planner can add charging stops automatically.
- Service: Request an appointment through the Tesla app and have Tesla confirm the location’s Semi capability for the specific repair. A passenger-vehicle service center should not be assumed to accept a Semi.
Do not substitute a static web list or a network-expansion map for the live station information shown in the Semi map. Truck access, stall availability, operating hours and site instructions can change.

Find a Megacharger on the Semi touchscreen
The touchscreen is the most direct source while the truck is being operated. Tesla’s Semi charging guidance says a gray map pin identifies a Megacharger and can show the station address, distance and number of available Megacharger stalls.

- Open the navigation map on the Semi touchscreen.
- Search for the destination, or move the map to the area where you want to stop.
- Look for the Megacharger station pin and select it.
- Read the station card before committing to the stop. Check the displayed address, distance and available-stall count.
- Open the station’s detailed information. Tesla says selecting the station pin can reveal directions to the truck stalls, gate codes and other site-specific instructions.
- Set the station as a destination or add it to the route, then verify that the planned arrival leaves enough energy for the next leg.
A stall count is a live indication, not a reservation. It tells you what the map currently reports; another truck can occupy a stall before you arrive.
Use the Tesla app when planning away from the truck
The Tesla app is useful for a dispatcher or driver who is preparing a trip before departure. Sign in to the Tesla account associated with the Semi, open the map, and search the route area for Megacharger pins. Select a pin to inspect the same type of station information Tesla describes for the in-vehicle map.
- Open the Tesla app and select the Semi from the vehicle list.
- Open the map or charging-location view.
- Search along the planned corridor and select each Megacharger pin that could serve the route.
- Record the address, current stall availability and any access directions or gate code shown in the station information.
- Recheck the station shortly before departure and again while en route, because the live values can change.
Use the app as a planning aid, not as proof that a site is suitable for every truck configuration or delivery schedule. Confirm turning access, appointment requirements at the destination and any local instructions displayed by Tesla.

Tesla describes Semi Trip Planner as the route-planning workflow for adding charging stops. It is preferable to guessing at intervals because the system can use the route and the vehicle’s state of charge to propose stops.
- Enter the final destination in Semi navigation.
- Review the route and the charging stops that Trip Planner adds.
- Open each proposed Megacharger and inspect its live station card rather than accepting the stop solely because it appears on the route.
- Check whether the suggested stop’s access hours, instructions and available stalls fit the dispatch plan.
- After loading, weather changes, a delay or a significant detour, recalculate the route and review the stops again.
Trip Planner’s recommendation is not a guarantee of an open stall. Treat the map’s current station information as the final check before entering a site.
Read a station pin before sending a truck there
Address and approach
Use the listed address to compare the site with the delivery route and the truck’s legal approach. The red station pin may include directions to the actual charging stalls; those directions matter when a location has a controlled entrance, a separate truck lane or a gate away from the public road.
Stall availability
The map can show the number of available Megacharger stalls. Availability is a snapshot, so a dispatcher should check it close to the planned arrival and give a driver a fallback plan for a delay or a full site.

Access hours
Tesla says most stations are open for charging 24 hours. If a station has limited charging hours, those hours appear in the site’s map information. Nearby restaurants, restrooms and other amenities have their own business hours and should not be treated as available whenever the charger is open.
Gate codes and site instructions
Station details can include gate codes and directions that are not visible in a generic map search. Capture those instructions before entering a controlled site, and pass them to the driver through the fleet’s normal dispatch channel.
Reservations
Tesla says Megacharger reservations are not supported. A route plan can identify a compatible stop, but it cannot hold a stall for a scheduled arrival.
Understand what a Megacharger can do
Tesla’s current Semi Charging support page says a Megacharger can provide up to 1.2 megawatts and that “Megacharger can recover up to 60% of your range in 30 minutes.” Those are maximum or “up to” figures, not a guaranteed result at every stop. Tesla says the actual charging rate depends on the Semi’s battery level, battery temperature and whether another truck is charging.

The 120 kW Basecharger and four-hour figure come from Tesla’s Semi product information and describe a different operating context. They should not be used to assume that a public Megacharger stop will take four hours, nor should a depot setup be treated as a route location.
Tesla lists up to 500 miles of estimated range for the Semi. That is Tesla’s estimate, not a universal real-world distance guarantee. Payload, speed, terrain, weather, traffic and auxiliary loads can change the usable distance, so leave an operational margin instead of planning to arrive at zero.
Do not route a Semi to passenger-vehicle charging equipment
Tesla explicitly states: “No. Supercharger and Wall Connector are designed for passenger vehicles and are not compatible with Semi.” A Supercharger or Wall Connector appearing near a route is therefore not an alternate Semi stop.

- Use Megacharger locations shown for the Semi in the touchscreen or Tesla app.
- Do not tell a driver to try a passenger-car Supercharger because it is closer.
- Do not treat a depot Basecharger as a public emergency substitute unless the fleet controls that facility and has confirmed access.
- Do not infer compatibility from a third-party map listing; Tesla’s Semi map and station details are the relevant operational reference.
A practical route-planning workflow for fleets
Dispatchers can turn the map information into a repeatable pre-trip check without maintaining a separate list that quickly becomes stale.
- Build the route: Enter the destination in Semi Trip Planner and note every charging stop it adds.
- Validate each stop: Open the Megacharger pin in the Semi map or Tesla app and record the address, distance, available-stall count and any gate or approach instruction.
- Check operating windows: Confirm whether the station has limited access hours. Check amenities separately if the driver needs a meal or restroom stop.
- Check energy margin: Compare the proposed arrival state of charge with the truck’s payload, weather, terrain and delay risk. Add a stop or adjust the plan if the margin is too small.
- Prepare a fallback: Because reservations are unavailable and stall availability changes, identify the next compatible Megacharger shown along the corridor or a safe holding plan approved by the fleet.
- Recheck on departure: Refresh the map before the truck leaves and communicate any changed instructions or availability to the driver.
- Recalculate after disruption: Re-run Trip Planner after a long loading delay, detour, severe weather event or unexpected energy consumption.
This process keeps the live Tesla information in the decision loop while preserving a dispatch record of which stop was selected and why.
What to do if a Megacharger stall is damaged
Do not use a stall with a cracked handle, a cut or loose cable, or a fluid leak. Tesla instructs drivers to call Tesla Service at 1-877-798-3752 and provide:
- the Megacharger site;
- the stall number; and
- a description of the damage.
Move to another compatible stall only if the site and the truck’s position make that safe. If no suitable stall is available, update the route in the Semi map rather than attempting to connect to a Supercharger or Wall Connector.
Find service help for a Tesla Semi
Tesla’s Semi information describes three support channels: Semi Service Centers, remote diagnostics and Mobile Service. The appropriate choice depends on the fault, the location and what Tesla determines can be completed at the truck’s current position.

Tesla’s general service-visit guidance places the appointment workflow in the Tesla app. The labels and available appointment types can vary by location and by the work requested.
- Open the Tesla app and select the affected Semi.
- Open Service and describe the symptom or maintenance need in specific terms.
- Attach the requested photographs, warning messages or other information if the app asks for them.
- Review the appointment options Tesla offers, including Mobile Service or a Service Center visit where available.
- Before dispatching the truck, contact Tesla or the fleet’s Tesla representative to confirm that the assigned facility can receive a Semi and perform the required repair.
- Keep the appointment confirmation and any towing, gate or arrival instructions with the driver.
Remote diagnostics can help Tesla evaluate a fault before an appointment. It does not mean the issue can be repaired remotely; Tesla may still direct the truck to a Service Center or send Mobile Service.

Mobile Service versus a Service Center

The public Tesla service instructions do not establish that every general Service Center can repair a Semi. A location shown by a generic Tesla service search is not, by itself, confirmation of Semi capability.
Why a public Semi service map is not enough
Tesla’s public material describes Semi Service Centers and support options, but it does not provide a current, complete Semi-specific service-center directory that identifies the repairs each location can perform. For that reason, route a disabled or scheduled truck only after Tesla confirms the receiving facility and the work scope.
For a fleet, the most reliable record is the appointment confirmation plus the name of the Tesla contact who verified the location. Reconfirm when the repair changes, the truck is reassigned to another region or the appointment is moved.

Tesla’s investor presentation dated January 28, 2026 includes a graphic titled “TESLA SEMI – MEGACHARGER NETWORK PLANNED SITES FOR 2026.” The graphic is useful for understanding intended network expansion, but it is a planned-sites map, not an operational directory.
A pin on that presentation does not prove that a charger is open, accessible to your truck or accepting sessions today. Confirm every location in the live Semi touchscreen or Tesla app before putting it on a dispatch plan. The presentation is available as a Tesla investor presentation PDF.
Common route-planning mistakes
Using a passenger-car map result
A nearby Supercharger may look like the obvious answer when the Semi’s energy is low, but Tesla says that equipment is not compatible. Filter the decision through the Semi map and Megacharger designation.

A saved spreadsheet can retain an old address, access rule or stall count. Use it only as an internal reference and verify the current pin details before each trip.

Assuming 24-hour access everywhere
Most stations are open for charging 24 hours, but Tesla says limited hours are shown in site information. Read the specific station card instead of applying the majority rule to every stop.
Counting on a reservation
Reservations are not supported, so a time-sensitive delivery should include energy margin and a fallback decision rather than a promised stall.
Sending a repair truck to the nearest Tesla location
Nearest does not mean capable. Use the app’s service workflow and obtain Tesla’s confirmation that the facility can handle a Semi and the stated repair.
Treating maximum charging figures as a promise
The 1.2 MW and 60%-in-30-minutes figures are Tesla’s “up to” specifications. Battery level, temperature and concurrent charging affect the actual rate, so dispatch plans should not use the maximum as an unqualified appointment duration.
Information to give a driver or dispatcher
Before the truck leaves, provide a concise trip brief built from the live station cards:
- the destination and the Megacharger stops added by Semi Trip Planner;
- each stop’s address and expected arrival distance;
- the current available-stall count at the time of the check;
- gate codes, stall directions and other site instructions;
- any limited charging hours and the hours of critical nearby amenities;
- the next compatible stop or approved fallback if the first site is full;
- the Tesla Service number, 1-877-798-3752, for a damaged charging stall; and
- for a service appointment, the confirmed receiving facility, appointment details and whether Mobile Service or a center visit was assigned.
Refresh the brief when the route, load, arrival time or vehicle condition changes. That is more reliable than treating a planned-site graphic or an old route file as a live operational source.
