Estimate a Torres EVX trip from the energy you can actually use and the consumption your route is likely to require—not from the headline WLTP number alone. The planning equation is distance (km) = available battery energy (kWh) ÷ expected consumption (kWh/100 km) × 100. Start with the exact market, model year, trim and battery version, use consumption from a comparable journey, and keep an arrival reserve instead of planning to reach 0%.
The practical answer
The Torres EVX does not have one universal “real-world range” figure. Published range changes by market and vehicle version, while your result changes with speed, temperature, heating or air conditioning, payload, road type, battery condition and state of charge. A useful estimate therefore has three parts:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Identify the exact Torres EVX specification you are driving.
- Choose an expected consumption value for the same type of road, weather, speed and load.
- Convert the energy available between your starting and planned ending state of charge into distance, then retain a practical reserve.
This produces a transparent trip-planning estimate, not a KGM guarantee. Your own recent consumption on similar roads is normally the most useful input.

| KGM New Zealand Electric vehicle FAQ, updated 24 September 2026 | The FAQ identifies the Torres EVX as front-wheel drive. | 462 km WLTP combined | Use as the New Zealand market baseline; confirm local availability and specification. |
| KGM Germany 2026 Torres EVX Nomad page | 80.6 kWh battery; 19.3 kWh/100 km WLTP combined consumption | Up to 503 km WLTP combined; up to 664 km WLTP city | These figures apply to the German 2026 Nomad presentation and should not be transferred automatically to another market or trim. |
| KGM Spain update | Updated 80.6 kWh version | More than 500 km homologated combined; 664 km urban | Use only for the Spanish updated version described by KGM Spain. |
The German page’s 80.6 kWh is a published battery-capacity figure. It is not automatically the same as the energy available to the driver, because a vehicle can reserve part of its battery for protection and control. For a calculation, use a documented usable-energy value for your exact car if one is available; otherwise label the result as an approximation.
Why WLTP is not your trip range
WLTP is a standardized laboratory procedure designed to let buyers compare vehicles tested to the same procedure. KGM New Zealand says its combined result uses a city-and-highway laboratory cycle and applies in optimal driving conditions. That makes 462 km, 503 km or 664 km useful reference points, but not promises for a motorway journey, a winter commute or a loaded vehicle.
The city figure is especially easy to misuse. Urban speeds and frequent low-speed operation can produce lower consumption than sustained high-speed travel, so an urban homologation number should not be used to plan a long motorway leg. Conversely, a driver whose route is mostly low-speed urban streets may see a result closer to the city test than to the combined figure.

The German and Spanish numbers are also geographically and version specific. Before comparing a dealer display, a registration document and an online specification, record the country, model year, trim or special edition, battery version and the test cycle attached to each number.
The range equation and the energy you can use
When consumption is shown in kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometres, calculate:
Estimated distance (km) = available energy (kWh) ÷ expected consumption (kWh/100 km) × 100
“Available energy” means the energy between the starting state of charge and the state of charge at which you intend to stop—not necessarily the full advertised battery capacity. If you begin at 80% and plan to arrive at 20%, the usable portion is approximately 60% of the car’s usable battery energy:
Available energy = usable battery energy × (starting SOC − arrival SOC)

- 100% Satisfaction: Our products have quality assurance, if you have questions or are not satisfied after receiving the product, don't worry, please contact us as soon as possible, we provide after-sales service.
Use decimal SOC values in that expression: 80% is 0.80 and 20% is 0.20. If you do not know the Torres EVX’s usable-energy figure, avoid presenting a battery-capacity calculation as precise. Substitute the most defensible value available from the vehicle’s information system or your own charging records and state the assumption.
Worked example with an explicit assumption
Suppose, purely as an illustration, that your exact car has 80.6 kWh of usable energy, you start at 90%, plan to arrive at 15%, and expect 22 kWh/100 km on the route. The available energy would be 80.6 × (0.90 − 0.15) = 60.45 kWh. The estimated distance would be 60.45 ÷ 22 × 100 = approximately 275 km. The arithmetic is transparent, but the 80.6 kWh usable-energy assumption must be verified; KGM’s German page publishes 80.6 kWh as battery capacity, not a universal usable-energy specification.
A repeatable method for estimating a real trip
-
Record the exact vehicle identity
Write down the registration market, model year, trim or special edition and battery version. Match the official KGM figure to that identity. The New Zealand FAQ, German Nomad page and Spanish update describe different market contexts.

Set the starting and arrival state of charge
Use the percentage you will actually leave with. Choose an arrival reserve that reflects charger spacing, weather uncertainty and the consequences of a missed charger. A plan that mathematically ends at 0% leaves no margin for a detour, a queue or a slower-than-expected section.
-
Choose comparable consumption
Prefer your own recent trip data at a similar sustained speed, temperature, HVAC setting, payload and road profile. If that is unavailable, begin with the matching WLTP consumption where published, then adjust it for the route rather than treating it as a promise.
-
Convert energy to distance
Apply the equation with consistent units. If the display reports kWh/100 km, divide energy by that number and multiply by 100. If a source reports miles per kWh, convert the units before calculating.
-
Make a conservative adjustment
Increase the expected consumption when your trip is harder than the reference journey: sustained motorway speed, cold-weather cabin heat, strong air-conditioning demand, a full load, towing, headwinds, steep terrain or a battery whose age and condition reduce available energy.

Plan charging from the reserve, not from the headline number
Place the first charging option before the calculated limit and identify an alternative. Recheck the estimate as the trip progresses; the car’s recent consumption and remaining state of charge supersede a pre-trip average.

Choose the right consumption number
Consumption is the most important variable in the calculation. A 10% error in consumption produces roughly a 10% error in the calculated distance when the available energy is unchanged. Use a number that resembles the trip you are about to drive.
Your own trip history
If the Torres EVX records recent consumption, select journeys with the same road mix and season. Separate low-speed town driving from motorway runs, and distinguish a lightly loaded solo trip from a family trip with luggage. A short trip can also be misleading because cabin heating or cooling consumes energy while the vehicle covers few kilometres.
The published WLTP consumption baseline
KGM Germany lists 19.3 kWh/100 km WLTP combined for the 2026 Torres EVX Nomad. That is a standardized baseline for the specified German vehicle, not a motorway prediction. Using it for a high-speed route without adjustment will usually make the plan less conservative than intended.
Modeled speed and heating scenarios
EVKX’s MY2025/MY2026 range model illustrates how route conditions can move the result. These are modeled estimates, not independent road-test results or guarantees for every vehicle:
| Modeled condition | Estimated distance | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| 90 km/h, ideal conditions | 419 km | Model output for a steady moderate speed with no modeled heating load. |
| 90 km/h, 2 kW modeled heating | 383 km | Adding the modeled cabin-heating load reduces the estimate. |
| 112 km/h, ideal conditions | 288 km | Sustained higher speed produces a much shorter modeled range. |
| 112 km/h, 2 kW modeled heating | 269 km | Higher speed and modeled heating combine to reduce the output further. |
EVKX identifies these as MY2025/MY2026 model estimates and lists a last-modified date of 14 August 2026. Treat them as scenario examples that help you choose a consumption assumption, not as a universal answer for a particular Torres EVX.
Adjust for the conditions KGM identifies
KGM New Zealand explicitly lists load, driving style, journey type, vehicle configuration, battery age and condition, heating and air conditioning, and operating, environmental and climate conditions as real-world range factors. Each belongs in your estimate when it differs from the reference trip.
Speed and driving style
Sustained high speed generally requires more energy than a mixed city-and-highway cycle. Use a motorway-specific consumption value for a motorway trip. Rapid acceleration, frequent overtaking and high-speed climbs also make a calm mixed-cycle average unsuitable.
Temperature and cabin conditioning
Cold weather can reduce range through both battery behavior and the energy needed to heat the cabin. Hot weather can increase air-conditioning demand. If you know the route will require continuous heating or cooling, use a consumption record from similar weather or apply a deliberately conservative margin rather than relying on a mild-weather average.

Payload, towing and terrain
Passengers, luggage and a trailer increase the work required to move the vehicle. Hills, strong headwinds, wet roads and stop-start traffic can likewise raise consumption. KGM’s list covers the load and environmental variables; your calculation should reflect the actual departure load, not an unladen specification sheet.
Battery age and condition
The same displayed state of charge does not guarantee the same available energy over the life of a vehicle. KGM names battery age and condition as range factors. If your recent trips show a persistent shortfall under comparable conditions, use that observed consumption and available-energy behavior instead of an old baseline.
How to estimate a partial-charge journey
Full-charge figures are often irrelevant to daily driving. For a departure at 70% and a planned arrival at 25%, calculate only the 45% share of usable energy. This prevents the common mistake of applying a full-battery range to a trip that starts after an overnight charge was deliberately limited.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For example, if a verified usable-energy value were 75 kWh, the usable energy between 70% and 25% would be 75 × 0.45 = 33.75 kWh. At an expected 20 kWh/100 km, the mathematical distance would be 168.75 km. Round down for planning and place a charging option before that limit; the example does not include a weather or traffic margin.
Build a reserve that matches the consequence of being wrong
There is no single KGM-prescribed reserve percentage in the cited material. Choose one deliberately. A short local trip with nearby chargers may tolerate a smaller margin than a remote motorway section in freezing weather. Increase the reserve when:
- the route has long gaps between compatible charging sites;
- weather, wind or traffic is uncertain;
- you are towing or carrying a heavy load;
- the battery’s age or condition is uncertain;
- arrival at a charger is time-critical or there is no reliable alternative.
Keep the reserve in the calculation by raising the planned arrival SOC, not by pretending the car can safely use every last displayed percentage. If the route changes, recalculate with the remaining energy and the consumption observed so far.
Update the estimate while driving
- Compare actual consumption with your assumption. If the display is materially higher, replace the original value in the equation.
- Recalculate remaining distance. Use the energy represented by the current state of charge down to your chosen reserve.
- Check the next charger and an alternative. A theoretical remaining range is not a substitute for charger availability, access restrictions or a queue.
- Reduce demand if the reserve is shrinking. Lowering speed smoothly and moderating heating or air conditioning can help, provided doing so is safe and appropriate.
This rolling method is more reliable than preserving a pre-trip estimate after the route, weather or traffic has changed.

- Market and model year: New Zealand’s 462 km figure, Germany’s up-to-503 km combined figure and Spain’s above-500-km update are not interchangeable.
- Trim and battery version: Confirm whether the number refers to the standard vehicle or the German Nomad presentation and whether the 80.6 kWh update applies.
- Test cycle: WLTP and a third-party model are different kinds of evidence.
- Route profile and sustained speed: City, mixed-cycle and 112 km/h motorway scenarios answer different questions.
- Temperature and HVAC: A mild, unheated run cannot stand in for a cold-weather trip with continuous cabin heat.
- Load and towing: Compare vehicles with similar occupants, luggage and trailer conditions.
- Starting and ending SOC: A full-charge claim and a 70%-to-20% trip estimate describe different energy windows.
The available sources do not provide a like-for-like independent road test covering all of these variables. An exact individual-trip result therefore remains uncertain even when the arithmetic is correct.
Common estimation mistakes and how to correct them
Using the largest published number everywhere
Problem: Applying the 664 km city figure to a high-speed journey. Correction: Match the range claim to the route profile and use a motorway consumption assumption for motorway travel.
Treating battery capacity as usable energy
Problem: Dividing the published 80.6 kWh capacity by consumption without checking how much energy the driver can access. Correction: Use verified usable energy or label the capacity as an assumption and keep the result approximate.
Ignoring the state-of-charge window
Problem: Planning from 100% to 0% when the trip starts at 80% and must finish with a reserve. Correction: Multiply usable energy by the difference between the actual starting SOC and planned arrival SOC.
Copying a mild-weather average into winter
Problem: Keeping the same consumption while running continuous heat in cold conditions. Correction: Use comparable winter data or increase the consumption assumption; EVKX’s modeled 90 km/h example falls from 419 km without modeled heating to 383 km with a modeled 2 kW heating load.
Calling a model output a road-test result
Problem: Presenting EVKX’s 269–419 km scenarios as what every owner will achieve. Correction: Identify them as modeled MY2025/MY2026 estimates and use them only to illustrate sensitivity to speed and heating.
Failing to recalculate
Problem: Continuing to trust the departure estimate after a headwind, detour or traffic jam changes consumption. Correction: Recalculate from the current SOC and observed trip consumption, then move the charging stop forward if necessary.

The sources establish that Torres EVX range varies by market and version, that WLTP is a comparison procedure rather than a real-world guarantee, and that operating conditions have a substantial effect. They provide official market figures and modeled speed-and-heating scenarios, but no single independent road test covering every Torres EVX configuration and route condition.
Consequently, it is not responsible to publish one universal “the Torres EVX really gets X kilometres” number. A defensible estimate names the vehicle version, states the energy and consumption assumptions, shows the calculation, and preserves a reserve. Once you have comparable personal trip data, replace the generic assumption with that evidence.
A compact worksheet you can reuse
| Input | Your value | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Market, model year, trim and battery | Record exactly | Prevents mixing New Zealand, German and Spanish specifications. |
| Usable battery energy | Verified value or clearly labeled assumption | Battery capacity is not automatically the driver-accessible amount. |
| Starting SOC | For example, 0.80 | Determines how much energy is available for this trip. |
| Planned arrival SOC | For example, 0.20 | Protects a practical reserve. |
| Expected consumption | kWh/100 km | Must match speed, weather, HVAC, load and road type. |
| Calculated distance | Usable energy × (start SOC − arrival SOC) ÷ consumption × 100 | Converts the energy window into kilometres. |
Fill this worksheet before departure, then update the consumption and remaining-distance fields from the car’s actual trip data. That process gives you a more honest answer than copying a single laboratory range figure.
