Compare the same model year, Corvette variant, body style, trim and equipment—and ask every dealership for a written out-the-door price tied to a specific VIN or stock number. Confirm whether that exact car is available, separate required charges from optional add-ons, and check incentive conditions before treating one offer as cheaper than another.
Start with one Corvette configuration
Before contacting dealers, define the car you want closely enough that each quote can be checked against the same target. Record the model year, Corvette variant, coupe or convertible body style, trim and must-have options. If you are shopping for a Stingray, for example, note whether you are comparing 1LT, 2LT or 3LT. Chevrolet describes these as different equipment levels: 2LT adds equipment to 1LT, and 3LT adds features to 2LT. A lower price for a different trim is not a like-for-like saving.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Use Chevrolet’s Build & Price information and inventory search to identify the configuration and actual vehicles that fit it. Chevrolet says its inventory filters can search by model, trim, options and accessories. Check the vehicle’s model year and equipment rather than assuming an option or package carries over unchanged from another year. Record factory-installed options separately from accessories installed or sold by the dealer.
Write down the target before comparing listings
- Model year and Corvette variant, such as Stingray or Z06.
- Coupe or convertible, plus trim.
- Must-have factory options and equipment you are willing to do without.
- Whether dealer-installed accessories are acceptable, and which ones you would decline.
- Your location for estimating taxes and registration charges.
This target is the reference for screening listings and checking quotes. If a dealer offers a different configuration, mark the difference rather than treating its price as directly comparable.

Use MSRP as context, not as your out-the-door budget
Chevrolet’s captured 2027 Corvette Stingray pages show inconsistent starting prices: the 2027 Stingray page lists $71,300, while Chevrolet’s inventory/current-lineup material lists $71,000. Both figures are Chevrolet published starting-price figures from page captures dated October 13, 2026; the discrepancy means neither should be treated as a definitive current transaction price. Verify the model year and current figure on Chevrolet’s live build or inventory pages, then rely on a written quote for the specific vehicle you are considering.
Chevrolet’s inventory disclaimer says Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price excludes destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment. So even a correctly identified MSRP is not the complete amount you would pay to acquire the car. An advertised starting price may also describe a different trim or omit options on the vehicle in a listing. Check the actual vehicle’s equipment and the quote’s line items before using a manufacturer price as a comparison baseline.
Find vehicles you can actually buy
Search inventory for cars that match your target, then ask each dealership to confirm the status of the exact vehicle. A listing is not enough to establish that the car is physically available or can be delivered on the timetable you need. Ask whether it is on the lot, incoming, reserved or otherwise unavailable for immediate delivery, and have the dealer identify it by VIN or stock number.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallThe Federal Trade Commission’s consumer guidance advises shoppers to confirm availability and get the out-the-door price in writing before leaving home. Its article, “Car Dealer Ads and Promotions: Know Before You Go,” puts the advice this way: “Whether you’re buying or financing the car, ask the dealer to confirm that the vehicle is actually on the lot and to send you the ‘out-the-door’ price — in writing — before you leave home.” A written quote makes offers easier to compare and can expose add-ons or charges that do not appear in the headline price. It is still prudent to recheck the vehicle and numbers before signing; a quote is not a guarantee that every term will remain unchanged in every jurisdiction.
Use a repeatable dealer-outreach process
Contact several dealers with the same written request rather than asking each salesperson a different question. Consistency makes the replies easier to normalize and reduces the chance that one dealer is pricing a different car.
- Send the target build. Include model year, variant, body style, trim and every must-have option. State which dealer accessories you will not accept unless you expressly approve them.
- Identify the vehicle. Ask for the VIN or stock number and whether the vehicle is on the lot, incoming, reserved or unavailable. If the dealer proposes a substitute, have the substitute identified separately.
- Request itemization. Ask for the written selling price, every dealer charge, government charges, destination treatment, options, accessories, add-ons, incentives and the resulting out-the-door total.
- State the comparison location. Taxes, title, license and registration estimates should use the same buyer location so that a difference in geography does not look like a pricing difference.
- Set aside other negotiations. Ask for the Corvette price without a trade-in or financing package first. Evaluate the trade-in allowance, loan payoff, APR, term and monthly payment in separate columns later.
Use the date and time on each quote. If a dealer says a price is valid only under certain conditions, record those conditions next to the number instead of copying the headline amount into your shortlist.
A concise quote request
Your message can ask for: “Please quote the identified VIN or stock number for the same model year, Corvette variant, body style, trim and options listed below. Confirm whether it is physically on the lot or incoming. Please itemize the selling price, destination, dealer-required fees, government charges, optional accessories or services, incentives and eligibility conditions, then provide the out-the-door total for my location. Please identify anything that is required and anything I may decline.” This wording keeps the request focused on a comparable vehicle and a complete total.

Request the same written quote from every dealer
Send each dealer the same target configuration and ask for a quote tied to the identified car, not just a general price for a Corvette. Request the selling price and every charge as separate line items. Ask the dealer to identify which amounts are required to purchase the vehicle, which are government charges, and which products or services are optional. Also ask for the availability status and any conditions attached to discounts.
Quote request checklist
- VIN or stock number, model year, trim, body style and Corvette variant.
- Confirmation that the vehicle is available, or a clear description of its incoming or reserved status.
- Written selling price and any discount from the advertised or stated price.
- Each dealer-required charge, with its name and amount.
- Estimated government charges, including tax, title, license and registration, with the location used for the estimate.
- Destination freight treatment and optional equipment or accessories included in the quote.
- Each add-on or service, its price, whether it is optional, and whether declining it changes the offer.
- Every incentive or rebate, its eligibility requirements, expiration or other conditions, and whether the quote assumes you qualify.
- The resulting out-the-door total and the date and time the quote was prepared.
Ask for a revised written quote if the dealer changes the vehicle, equipment, price or fees. If an amount is unclear, request its purpose and whether it is mandatory before using the quote in your comparison.
Normalize quotes instead of comparing headline prices
A low advertised number can be conditional, incomplete or tied to a car with different equipment. Put every quote into the same categories so the difference between vehicles and the difference between pricing terms are visible. For a clean vehicle-price comparison, keep trade-in and financing discussions separate until the car price is clear. A trade-in allowance, payoff, loan APR, loan term or monthly payment can change the overall deal, but it should not obscure what the dealer is charging for the Corvette itself.
| Comparison axis | What to line up | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle identity | Model year, Corvette variant, body style, VIN or stock number | Confirms each offer concerns an identifiable car you may be able to acquire. |
| Configuration | Trim and each must-have factory option | Trims and options affect equipment and price; different builds are not equivalent. |
| Availability | On lot, incoming, reserved or unavailable | Separates an actionable offer from a listing that is not available for immediate delivery. |
| Selling price | Written price for the identified vehicle | Replaces a headline figure with the dealer’s stated price for that car. |
| Charges | Dealer-required charges and government charges in separate rows | Shows what the manufacturer’s MSRP does not include and what the dealer says is required. |
| Add-ons | Item, price, optional status, and accepted or declined | Reveals unwanted, duplicated or inaccurately described products and services. |
| Incentives | Amount, eligibility, expiration and conditions | Prevents a conditional price from being compared with one available without those conditions. |
| Out-the-door total | Written total, tax and registration geography, and included items | Provides the practical total for comparison in the buyer’s jurisdiction. |
Maintain separate columns for the trade-in allowance, any loan payoff, financing APR, term and monthly payment if you later evaluate the full transaction. For the vehicle-price comparison, first compare written selling prices and charges for matching vehicles. Then compare the out-the-door totals using the same location and accepted add-ons. If the totals differ because dealers estimated taxes or registration using different jurisdictions, ask them to recalculate on the same basis.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow to explain a price difference
When two totals diverge, trace the difference in this order: vehicle identity, trim and factory options, availability, selling price, destination, dealer-required charges, government charges, accepted add-ons and incentives. This prevents a dealer from appearing cheaper merely because its quote omits an option or assumes a rebate you cannot use. If the cars are not identical, label one as a different configuration instead of assigning an arbitrary dollar value to equipment you did not request.
Check fees, advertised prices and add-ons
The FTC’s Automobile Industry Pricing Transparency FAQs, published in September 2026 according to the search result, say that a fee a dealer requires a consumer to pay to purchase a car must be included in the advertised price. The FAQs also say certain government-required charges that the consumer pays directly to government may be excluded. This is federal FTC guidance; the treatment of taxes, registration and dealer fees in a particular transaction can depend on state and local rules.
Ask the dealer to explain whether each charge is mandatory to buy that vehicle or is an optional product or service. FTC guidance says advertised prices should not present mandatory dealer add-ons as optional or imply that optional items are required. For your own comparison, capture the product name and price, whether it is optional, and whether you have agreed to buy it. Check the final contract to make sure it includes only the items and prices you accepted.

Questions to ask about an add-on
- What product or service is this charge for?
- Is it required to purchase this specific Corvette, or may I decline it?
- Is it already included in the quoted selling price or added separately?
- If I decline it, will the selling price or another line item change?
- Does the vehicle already have a similar factory option or accessory?
If an advertised or emailed figure changes, ask the dealer to identify exactly what changed: the vehicle, equipment, discount, incentive, fee or add-on. Request an updated itemization rather than trying to compare an unexplained revised total against the earlier quote.

Common comparison traps
- Different model years: A prior-year Corvette may have a different equipment list or price basis. Put the year in the first column and do not merge years into one average.
- Trim substitution: A 1LT, 2LT and 3LT are not interchangeable simply because they share the Stingray name.
- Factory versus dealer equipment: A dealer-installed accessory may be priced separately, and it may duplicate something already present in the factory build.
- Conditional incentives: A discount that depends on eligibility, an expiration date or another condition is not the same as an unconditional selling price.
- Monthly-payment focus: A lower payment can result from a longer term rather than a lower Corvette price. Keep APR, term and payment away from the vehicle-price column.
- Unavailable inventory: A web listing marked incoming or reserved should not be ranked with an on-lot vehicle without noting the delivery difference.
- Mixed tax locations: Totals calculated for different registration locations cannot be compared fairly until the dealers use the same geography.
Use a worksheet that preserves the details
A simple worksheet is more useful than a list of headline prices because it preserves the conditions behind each number. Use one row per dealer and keep the quoted facts in their own columns. Do not replace “incoming” or “reserved” with “available,” and do not combine optional add-ons with required fees in a single unexplained amount.
| Field | Entry to record |
|---|---|
| Dealer and location | Name and city/state; date and time of quote |
| Vehicle | Year, variant, body style, trim, VIN or stock number |
| Status | On lot, incoming, reserved or unavailable; dealer’s confirmation |
| Equipment | Factory options, installed accessories and other equipment differences |
| Advertised price | Amount and any conditions stated in the advertisement |
| Written selling price | Price tied to the identified vehicle |
| Charges | Dealer-required charges, government charges and destination treatment, itemized separately |
| Add-ons | Product or service, price, optional status, and whether accepted or declined |
| Incentives | Amount, eligibility, expiration and other conditions |
| Out-the-door price | Total, with the tax and registration location stated |
| Separate transaction terms | Trade-in allowance, payoff, APR, loan term and payment, if relevant |
Save the actual quote or email with the worksheet. If a number is later disputed, the written itemization makes it easier to point to the specific vehicle and term you were comparing.
Compare the final buyer’s order before signing
Before signing, match the buyer’s order to the written quote and confirm that it identifies the same VIN or stock number, equipment and agreed price. Review every charge and add-on against the quote, and check that any incentive is shown on the terms you qualify for. Resolve any changed price, equipment, availability or add-on charge before you sign. If the dealer has revised the offer, ask for the revised terms in writing and compare them with your worksheet.
Do not rely on a salesperson’s verbal description when the written buyer’s order says something different. Ask for an explanation of every changed line and confirm whether the revised total still uses the same tax and registration location. If you decline an optional product, make sure it is absent from the contract rather than merely crossed out on a worksheet.

Chevrolet’s captured 2027 Stingray starting figures provide manufacturer-published context, not evidence of a typical dealer selling price or markup. The captured material does not establish actual Corvette transaction prices or a universal amount a buyer should negotiate. A fair comparison therefore depends on current, VIN-specific written offers for vehicles with matching equipment, not on treating a starting MSRP as a promised deal price. Availability, fees, taxes, incentives and inventory can vary by location and buyer eligibility.

Should I compare MSRP or the out-the-door price?
Use MSRP and Chevrolet’s starting figures as a configuration reference, but compare written out-the-door totals when choosing among dealers. Chevrolet says MSRP excludes destination freight, tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment, so MSRP alone does not show the amount required to acquire the car.

Why do Chevrolet pages show both $71,300 and $71,000 for a 2027 Stingray?
The captured 2027 Stingray page lists $71,300, while Chevrolet inventory/current-lineup material lists $71,000. They are dated Chevrolet page captures from October 13, 2026, not a guarantee of a current transaction price. Check the live page for the exact model year and use the dealer’s VIN-specific written quote for the purchase decision.
What if a dealer gives me a price without a VIN?
Ask the dealer to identify the exact car by VIN or stock number. Without that identity, you cannot reliably confirm its trim, options, availability or whether the quote applies to the vehicle shown in the advertisement.
Can an incoming or reserved Corvette be compared with an on-lot car?
You can record both, but label their availability clearly. An incoming or reserved vehicle is not the same actionable offer as a physically available car. Ask when the dealer expects delivery and whether the quoted equipment and price apply to that specific vehicle.
How should I treat dealer-installed accessories?
List each accessory separately from factory-installed equipment. Ask whether it is optional, whether it is already included in the selling price, and whether declining it changes another line. Compare only the accessories you actually want.
Are dealer fees always included in an advertised price?
The FTC’s September 2026 Automobile Industry Pricing Transparency FAQs say a fee the dealer requires a consumer to pay to purchase the car must be included in the advertised price. Certain government-required charges paid directly to government may be excluded. State and local treatment varies, so ask the dealer to itemize each charge and identify its status.
Should I discuss my trade-in while requesting a quote?
You may mention that you have a trade-in, but request the Corvette’s selling price and charges separately first. Keep the allowance, payoff, APR, term and monthly payment in separate worksheet columns so they do not hide the vehicle price.
