Choose tires for a Lamborghini Urus Performante by starting with the tire-and-loading placard inside the driver-side door frame, then selecting a Lamborghini-homologated tire with the L sidewall marking in the exact front and rear sizes, load indexes and speed ratings shown there. For the Performante, Lamborghini’s listed families are Pirelli P Zero and P Zero Trofeo Race for summer driving and Pirelli Scorpion Winter for cold-weather use.

Why the Urus Performante needs a careful tire choice
The Urus Performante combines a high-output powertrain with permanent all-wheel drive, large brakes, electronically controlled chassis systems and a staggered tire arrangement. Tires are therefore part of the vehicle’s calibrated system rather than generic consumables. Lamborghini says the Urus four-wheel-drive transmission was engineered with Lamborghini-homologated tires in mind.

On the sidewall, the Lamborghini approval is identified by an L marking. Lamborghini’s official accessories brochure says: “Easily recognizable by their unique ‘L’ marking on the sidewall, only OE tires have been approved and homologated by Lamborghini, as a result of accurate testing and technological commitment.” A tire that merely has the right dimensions is not automatically equivalent to an L-marked original-equipment specification.

That distinction matters for several reasons:
- The front and rear tires can have different widths and aspect ratios, so a generic “Urus” listing may combine the wrong pair.
- Load index and speed rating are safety-critical, particularly on a heavy, high-performance SUV.
- All-wheel-drive systems depend on closely matched rolling characteristics across all four corners.
- Seasonal compounds behave very differently as temperatures change, even when the nominal size is identical.
Lamborghini and Pirelli both direct owners to verify the vehicle-specific fitment rather than selecting by family name alone.
Start with the driver-side door-frame placard
Open the driver’s door and locate the tire-and-loading information placard, normally attached to the door frame or door pillar. Write down every item shown for your car before looking at retailer listings.
Record the complete front and rear specification
- Front tire size, including width, aspect ratio and wheel diameter.
- Rear tire size, including width, aspect ratio and wheel diameter.
- Load index for each axle.
- Speed rating for each axle.
- Any construction, run-flat, pressure-monitoring or other fitment notation printed on the placard.
- The cold-inflation pressures specified for your vehicle and load condition.
The placard is more authoritative than a search result, an old invoice or a photograph of another Performante. Keep the information with the vehicle’s registration and service records so it is available when tires are replaced.
Why the published 22-inch sizes are only a cross-check
A Lamborghini announcement lists Pirelli P Zero sizes of 285/40 R22 at the front and 325/35 R22 at the rear for the Urus Performante. Those figures are useful for spotting an obviously incorrect listing, but they are not a universal order instruction. Lamborghini specifies that fitment can depend on vehicle configuration and market, and Pirelli’s catalog can return replacement options for original sizes. Confirm your own placard before purchase.
Understand the Lamborghini-approved tire families
Lamborghini’s official tire-range material names three relevant Pirelli families for the Urus Performante. They represent different intended uses, not a simple good-better-best ranking.

The family name alone does not prove compatibility. A tire must match the vehicle’s complete approved specification, including the front/rear pairing.
Choose by season and climate before choosing a model
Warm-weather road use: P Zero
For normal road use in warm conditions, the Lamborghini-listed P Zero is the straightforward starting point. Its role is to provide the summer compound and construction intended for the Performante’s road setup. Select the L-marked version in the placard sizes rather than assuming every P Zero carrying the same nominal dimensions has the same vehicle specification.
Summer tires lose flexibility as temperatures fall. If your car is driven through cold mornings, persistent near-freezing temperatures or snow-prone regions, do not treat a summer P Zero as an all-season substitute. Plan a seasonal change before conditions deteriorate.
Cold weather and snow: Scorpion Winter
For regular winter use, Lamborghini lists Scorpion Winter. A winter tire uses a compound and tread design intended to remain more usable in low temperatures than a summer tire. It is the appropriate category when the vehicle will be driven through sustained cold, snow or winter precipitation.

Use a complete approved set rather than mixing a summer tire on one axle with a winter tire on the other. Ask the installing dealer to confirm the L-marked front and rear pair, wheel diameter and pressure-monitoring requirements for your car.
Performance-focused summer driving: P Zero Trofeo Race
P Zero Trofeo Race is listed separately as a performance-oriented summer option. Consider it only when your driving conditions, roads and vehicle fitment support that choice. A highly performance-focused tire can be less practical in heavy rain, low temperatures or daily commuting than a conventional summer tire, depending on the exact specification.

Do not confuse Trofeo R with Trofeo Race
Lamborghini also describes optional Pirelli Trofeo R tires as a higher-response, higher-grip performance choice. The official tire-range brochure separately names P Zero Trofeo Race for the Urus Performante. Those names should not be treated as interchangeable products.
If a dealer proposes either tire, ask for the exact sidewall marking, size, load index, speed rating and Lamborghini approval for your vehicle identification and wheel package. Confirm whether the proposal is a current Performante fitment or a different configuration. Without that confirmation, the shared “Trofeo” name is not enough to establish compatibility.
Check the staggered front/rear arrangement carefully
The Performante commonly uses a wider rear tire than front, illustrated by the published 285/40 R22 front and 325/35 R22 rear P Zero sizes. The difference is intentional: front and rear tires can have different load requirements, contact patches and rolling dimensions.
Never rotate a staggered set front to rear unless Lamborghini specifically approves that operation for your exact wheel and tire configuration. When ordering, enter the front and rear positions separately. A listing that shows only one size, or that describes a tire as “fits Urus” without axle position, is incomplete.
Keep all four tires closely matched in make, model, homologation and wear. All-wheel-drive hardware and stability systems are designed around compatible rolling circumferences. If one tire is damaged, ask Lamborghini Service or an authorized Pirelli dealer whether replacing one tire, two tires or the complete set is permitted for the measured tread-depth difference.
Winter wheels, snow chains and country-specific limits
Lamborghini’s 2025 accessories brochure says winter tires are available for 21-inch and 22-inch rims. It also says type-approved snow chains are available only for 21-inch rims, with accessory availability varying by country.

That statement does not mean every 21-inch wheel, tire or chain combination fits every Performante. Clearance can depend on brake hardware, wheel design and the exact tire dimensions. Before buying chains, provide the dealer with your vehicle identification number, wheel part number and tire size. Use only the chain type and installation position that Lamborghini approves for that combination.
Do not improvise with universal chains when the vehicle manufacturer has not confirmed clearance. An incorrectly fitted chain can strike suspension or brake components, damage the wheel or interfere with steering.
A step-by-step buying process
- Identify the car precisely. Record the model year, market, vehicle identification number and wheel package. Note whether the wheels are the original Performante equipment or a later replacement.
- Photograph and transcribe the placard. Capture the front and rear sizes, load indexes, speed ratings, pressures and all symbols. Check that the writing is legible before leaving the vehicle.
- Search the current Lamborghini/Pirelli fitment catalog. Select the exact Urus Performante version and configuration. Pirelli says its selector uses technical features and homologation data and may display replacement sizes, so read the result details rather than accepting the first match.
- Filter for the driving season. Choose a summer P Zero or performance-focused P Zero Trofeo Race for warm-weather use, or Scorpion Winter for the cold season, provided the exact L-marked fitment is listed.
- Compare the complete specification. Match the front and rear sizes independently, then check load index, speed rating, construction and any required markings. Do not approve a quote based only on brand, family name or wheel diameter.
- Confirm with a qualified source. Send the proposed part numbers and a placard photograph to Lamborghini Service or an authorized Pirelli dealer. Ask them to confirm vehicle compatibility, current availability and whether the proposal is original-equipment homologation.
- Inspect the delivered tires before installation. Verify the sidewall L marking, size, load and speed codes, and inspect for shipping damage. If any code differs from the approved quote, stop and resolve it before mounting.
- Have all installation work documented. Request records of tire part numbers, axle positions, balancing, valve or sensor service, torque and cold pressures. Keep the invoice with the vehicle file.
- Recheck after fitting. Set pressures with the tires cold according to the placard, initialize or verify the tire-pressure monitoring system as required, and confirm that no warning lights remain after a short, cautious drive.
How to evaluate a dealer or online listing
A reliable quote should identify more than a commercial name and a diameter. Ask for the manufacturer part number or full sidewall specification and have the seller state which tire goes on the front and which goes on the rear.
Questions worth asking
- Is this exact tire marked with Lamborghini’s L homologation?
- Does the listed size match my placard for this axle?
- Are the load index and speed rating at least the placard requirement?
- Is the tire a current production item, and what is its manufacturing date?
- Is the proposed set approved for my wheel design and brake package?
- Will the shop service the pressure sensors and reset the monitoring system?
- For winter use, is this wheel-and-tire set approved for my country and vehicle?
Generic marketplace listings can omit the L marking, show a replacement size returned by a dynamic catalog or combine front and rear tires incorrectly. Treat a low price or “fits Urus” label as a prompt for verification, not as proof of fitment.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Ordering from the vehicle name alone
Problem: The same model name can cover different years, markets and wheel packages.

Correction: Verify the exact product and vehicle-specific approval in writing.
Mixing seasons or tread patterns
Problem: A summer tire on one axle and a winter tire on the other can produce inconsistent grip and rolling behavior.
Correction: Use a complete, approved seasonal set and consult service staff if a single tire is damaged.
Buying chains without checking wheel clearance
Problem: Lamborghini’s 2025 accessories information limits type-approved chains to 21-inch rims, and country availability varies.

Using a published size as a universal answer
Problem: The 285/40 R22 front and 325/35 R22 rear figures are a published P Zero example, not a guarantee for every car.
Correction: Treat them as a cross-check and follow the individual placard.

Drive gently at first and look for steering pull, vibration, pressure warnings or unusual drivetrain behavior. Stop and return to the installer if a warning persists, if the vehicle vibrates at a particular speed or if the tire loses pressure. Do not attempt to mask a fitment problem by changing pressures beyond the placard guidance.
Maintenance after you choose the tires
Pressure checks
Check pressures when the tires are cold and before long trips, major load changes or seasonal storage. Temperature changes alter pressure, so a reading taken immediately after driving is not a valid replacement for a cold check.
Inspection
Look for cuts, bulges, exposed cords, punctures, shoulder damage and uneven wear. Measure tread depth according to local legal requirements and replace a tire immediately if structural damage is suspected.

Because the Urus Performante is all-wheel drive and staggered, ask service staff to assess tread-depth differences across all four tires. The correct replacement strategy depends on the measured wear and Lamborghini’s guidance for your configuration.
Seasonal storage
Store removed tires clean, dry and away from direct sunlight, heat sources, solvents and electric motors that generate ozone. Label each tire by axle position and keep the seasonal set together so its approved pairing is preserved.

What is and is not established about performance differences
The manufacturer material establishes the homologated families, their broad seasonal roles, the Performante wheel-diameter references and the need for exact fitment verification. It does not provide independent, dated statistics comparing tire life, braking distance, wet grip or lap times among P Zero, P Zero Trofeo Race, Trofeo R and Scorpion Winter on the Urus Performante.
Accordingly, choose on the evidence available: homologation first, exact placard fitment second, then season and intended use. Treat claims of a specific mileage, stopping-distance or lap-time advantage as unverified unless a test identifies the tire specification, vehicle, conditions and measurement method.
Final pre-purchase checklist
- Vehicle year, market and wheel package identified.
- Front and rear placard sizes copied exactly.
- Load indexes and speed ratings recorded.
- Season selected for the temperatures and precipitation you actually encounter.
- Lamborghini L marking confirmed on the proposed tires.
- Front/rear part numbers and axle positions checked separately.
- Dealer or Lamborghini Service confirmation obtained.
- Winter wheel and chain compatibility verified when relevant.
- Installation, balancing, pressure and monitoring-system service included.
For an Urus Performante, the safest default is not the tire with the most aggressive name or the lowest advertised price. It is the Lamborghini-homologated, L-marked tire that exactly matches your placard and is suited to the season and roads where you drive.
