To verify a CCM part, identify the motorcycle’s exact model, production year and configuration, locate the candidate part in a CCM catalogue, record its complete part number, and confirm that number against the target bike’s application. A shared engine size, similar name or matching appearance is not proof of interchangeability. If the catalogue does not explicitly cover the target motorcycle, obtain written confirmation from CCM or the component manufacturer before ordering.
Why CCM model names and engine sizes are not enough
CCM motorcycles can appear to belong to one model family while using different brakes, wheels, suspension components, bodywork, wiring or mounting hardware. A third-party CCM parts directory warns that similar model names, engine sizes and production years may still use different components. Treat the model label as a starting point for identification, not as a fitment approval.

Compatibility is also specific to the component. A brake-pad application in a supplier catalogue says something about that pad and those listed motorcycles; it does not establish that a wheel, clutch lever, fairing panel or electrical connector is shared by the same models. Every replacement part needs its own application and specification check.

Record the motorcycle’s exact identity before searching
Write down the details from the registration document, frame/VIN plate and the motorcycle itself. Do this before opening a marketplace listing, because a seller may use a broad family name that covers several configurations.

| Manufacturer | CCM | Prevents catalogue results for similarly named motorcycles from another maker. |
| Exact model designation | For example, GP 450 Adventure, CR40, R30, 644 DS or a Spitfire variant | CCM applications are commonly listed by specific designation rather than by one universal family. |
| Production or model year | The year shown in the vehicle documents or manufacturer records | Parts can change during a production run or between model years. |
| Trim or special edition | Adventure, road, track, limited edition or other suffix | Trim can change wheel size, braking hardware, body panels and electrical equipment. |
| Wheel and brake configuration | Wheel diameter, front/rear disc or drum arrangement, caliper position and ABS equipment if fitted | These details often determine the correct consumable and mounting dimensions. |
| VIN or frame number | Full identifier, with the last characters included | CCM or a parts supplier can use it to resolve an uncertain year or running change. |
Photograph the old part, its markings and the mounting area. A photo is useful for a supplier, but it cannot replace the model, year and part-number checks.
Start with the CCM catalogue and part number
CCM Motorcycles’ Parts Direct ordering instructions provide the most reliable starting process: browse the relevant catalogue, note the product and its part number, then contact CCM to place the order. Use the catalogue for the exact motorcycle designation recorded above, not only a search for “CCM parts.”
- Choose the correct catalogue category. Select the section for the component—such as brakes, controls, engine, chassis, electrical equipment or bodywork—and then select the motorcycle model.
- Read the complete description. Capture whether the item is front or rear, left or right, standard or optional, and whether a kit includes ancillary hardware.
- Copy the complete part number. Preserve every letter, digit, hyphen and suffix. A partial number can point to a different revision or side of the motorcycle.
- Record the catalogue’s application line. Note every model and year range shown beside that number. If the target model or year is absent, mark the result as unconfirmed.
- Check supersession notes. If the catalogue identifies a replacement number, retain both the original and current numbers and ask CCM which one is supplied for your VIN.
Do not treat a catalogue photograph as a dimensional drawing. Manufacturers often illustrate a family of parts with one image, even when the fitment list is narrower.

Verify the number against the target motorcycle
Use the candidate part number as the primary key. Search that exact number in the current CCM catalogue and, for a branded consumable, in the component manufacturer’s current catalogue. The target motorcycle should be named explicitly, with the relevant year or year range.

When two listings show different numbers, do not assume that one is an error. Possible explanations include a revised design, a left/right version, a different brake or wheel package, a kit versus a single item, or a supplier’s internal stock code. Ask the seller to identify the manufacturer’s number and state whether the newer number supersedes the older one.
A generic statement such as “fits CCM,” “fits GP 450” or “fits 450-cc models” is only a lead. It is acceptable for finding candidates, but not for approving a safety-critical purchase.
Check specifications that can defeat an apparent match
After the application line agrees, compare the physical and performance specifications. The part number and application should agree first; measurements are a second check and a way to catch a listing error.

- Confirm front versus rear and the number, shape and position of the pads.
- Compare pad length, height, thickness, backing-plate shape and locating tabs.
- Check caliper manufacturer and model, rotor diameter and thickness, and whether the motorcycle has a different caliper package.
- Verify friction-material approval and the supplier’s stated operating range for road use. Never substitute a pad solely because it can be pushed into the caliper.
EBC Brakes’ 2020 motorcycle catalogue illustrates why this is model-specific: its CCM application listings include the 644 DS, CR40, GP450, R30 and several Spitfire variants. That list is evidence for the particular brake applications shown in that catalogue, not proof that one EBC pad number fits every CCM motorcycle. Use the exact application and pad code in the current supplier catalogue, then confirm the target year with the seller.

Tires and wheels
- Match front and rear size separately, including width, aspect ratio and rim diameter.
- Check construction, load index, speed rating, tube or tubeless requirement and the direction-of-rotation mark.
- Confirm that the size clears the fork, swingarm, chain, brake caliper and mudguard at full suspension travel.
- For a wheel, compare axle diameter, bearing dimensions, spacer widths, rim width, brake-disc bolt pattern, offset and sprocket carrier arrangement.
A 2025 Motorace dealer fitment guide lists the GP 450 Adventure with a 90/90-21 front and 120/90-18 rear D606 tire. The same guide lists different sizes and product codes for Spitfire variants. Those entries demonstrate why a tire must be selected by exact model and configuration; they are not universal recommendations for every year or every use. Check the current CCM guidance, the tire maker’s load and speed requirements, and local road rules.
Controls, cables and levers
- Compare pivot diameter, lever ratio, reach-adjuster position and perch mounting width.
- For cables, match total length, inner-wire travel, barrel shape and routing; a cable that reaches the lever may still hold the throttle or clutch partly open.
- For hydraulic controls, verify banjo angle, thread size, hose length and switch or mirror mounting provisions.
Engine, drivetrain and service parts
- For filters, seals and gaskets, match the engine or gearbox version and the exact dimensions, sealing surface and relief-valve specification where applicable.
- For chains and sprockets, match chain pitch and width, tooth counts, front-sprocket spline, rear bolt circle and alignment.
- For clutch plates, compare plate count, outside and inside diameters, thickness and friction-material specification.
Electrical and bodywork
- Match connector shape and keying, wire count, polarity, voltage, current rating and mounting points.
- For lamps, verify beam pattern, bulb or LED specification and road-approval requirements.
- For body panels, compare every fastener location, panel thickness, tank or seat interface and clearance to controls. Similar styling does not guarantee interchangeable mounting points.
A repeatable compatibility workflow
- Identify the bike. Record exact model, year, trim, VIN and wheel/brake configuration.
- Define the component. State the position and side, such as “rear brake pads” rather than simply “brake pads.”
- Find the CCM listing. In Parts Direct or another CCM catalogue, select the model and component category.
- Capture the manufacturer number. Save the full number, description, application line and any supersession information.
- Cross-check the component maker. For brakes, tires or other branded consumables, search the current supplier catalogue by the manufacturer number and confirm the same CCM model and year.
- Compare specifications. Check dimensions, interfaces, ratings and configuration-specific features against the motorcycle and the old part.
- Assess the evidence. Give greatest weight to a current CCM application or written CCM confirmation, then to the component manufacturer’s catalogue. Treat dealer guides, marketplace listings and forum posts as leads.
- Resolve discrepancies. If any source gives a different number, application or dimension, stop the purchase and ask for clarification.
- Get written confirmation. Send the exact model, year, VIN, component position, candidate number and photos to CCM or the part manufacturer. Keep the reply with the purchase record.
- Inspect before installation. Compare the delivered part with the old part and the catalogue description. Do not force, drill, bend or shim a component to make it fit.
How to weigh conflicting fitment sources
| Source | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current CCM catalogue | Model, year and original part-number identification | A catalogue may omit a running change or show a number that has since been superseded. |
| Written confirmation from CCM | Resolving VIN, year or configuration uncertainty | Ask for the exact number and retain the response; a verbal “it should fit” is less useful. |
| Current component-manufacturer catalogue | Brake, tire, filter and other branded-component applications and specifications | Applications may be limited to the years and models tested or catalogued by that supplier. |
| Dealer fitment guide | Finding model-specific dimensions or product codes | Guides can be regional, dated or incomplete; verify against current manufacturer information. |
| Marketplace listing | Locating stock after the correct number is known | Seller titles often use broad “fits CCM” language and can contain copied or incorrect applications. |
| Owner forum or social post | Learning about possible supersessions or unusual configurations | It is anecdotal and may describe a modified motorcycle or a different year. |
If the highest-ranked source and a lower-ranked listing disagree, follow the higher-ranked source until the manufacturer resolves the conflict. Never average two measurements or choose the cheaper listing as a compromise.
When a part may be shared across models
Cross-model use is credible only when the same manufacturer number is explicitly assigned to both target applications, or CCM confirms the interchange for the relevant VIN range. A shared number is stronger evidence than a shared dimension because it incorporates the manufacturer’s interface and material requirements.

The cost of an incorrect consumable is not limited to a poor fit; it can affect control, clearance or load capacity.

Questions to send CCM or a supplier
Use a concise message that gives the recipient enough information to answer without guessing:
- “My motorcycle is a CCM [exact model], [production year], VIN [full VIN].”
- “The configuration is [trim, wheel size, brake arrangement or other relevant equipment].”
- “I need the [front/rear, left/right] [component].”
- “The candidate part number is [complete number], listed for [applications shown].”
- “Is this number approved for my VIN, and is it the current number or a superseded item?”
- “If it is not correct, please provide the current part number and any required hardware or related parts.”
Attach clear photos of the old component and its markings, but ask the supplier to base the answer on the VIN and catalogue application rather than appearance alone.
Common mistakes and how to correct them
Using displacement as the compatibility test
A 450-cc motorcycle can have different wheels, brakes, suspension or bodywork from another 450-cc CCM. Return to the exact model, year and configuration fields.
Ignoring a model suffix
Adventure, road and Spitfire variants can carry different equipment. Include the entire designation in every search and message.

Copying only the seller’s stock code
Retailers may use an internal SKU. Request the manufacturer’s complete part number and compare that number with CCM or the component maker.
Trusting an old catalogue without checking its date
The EBC example is a 2020 catalogue and the tire example is a 2025 dealer guide. A dated listing can identify a useful lead, but current applications and supersessions still need confirmation.
Assuming a kit contains everything needed
Check whether the listing is for one item, a pair, a complete set or a kit with seals, shims, pins or spacers. Order quantities and included hardware explicitly.
Making the part fit by modification
Drilling, filing, bending, adding unapproved spacers or using a different fastener changes the engineered interface. Stop and obtain an approved number instead.
Skipping a final inspection
Before riding, verify free movement, fastener engagement, cable routing, brake operation, wheel alignment, tire direction and clearance through the full suspension or steering range. Follow CCM’s service procedure and torque values for the motorcycle.
Decision checklist before you buy
- Exact CCM model and production year are documented.
- Trim, wheel and brake configuration are recorded where relevant.
- Part position and side are identified.
- Complete manufacturer part number is copied exactly.
- Target model and year appear in a current application listing, or CCM has confirmed them in writing.
- Dimensions, interfaces, ratings and included hardware agree with the motorcycle.
- Any discrepancy between CCM, supplier and seller listings has been resolved.
- The seller can identify the manufacturer number, not only an internal SKU.
- The purchase record includes the catalogue date or written confirmation used for the decision.
If one of these checks remains unanswered—particularly for brakes, tires, steering, suspension or controls—do not order on the assumption that the part is interchangeable. CCM Parts Direct is the documented manufacturer route for using its catalogues, recording the part number and contacting CCM for an order or fitment question.
