The reliable way to tell whether a Kia EV3 quote contains dealer add-ons is to obtain the VIN-specific vehicle sticker and a written, itemized out-the-door quote, then reconcile every line with the exact trim, destination charge, government charges, dealer fees, accessories, discounts, and financing or lease terms. Do not judge the deal by the advertised price or monthly payment alone.
Start with the exact 2027 EV3 and its official price reference
Before reviewing fees, confirm that the quote identifies the correct model year, trim, drivetrain, and vehicle identification number (VIN). The current U.S. reference is Kia America’s August 12, 2026 announcement for the 2027 EV3. Its listed manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRP) are shown below.

The last column is only a comparison aid: it adds the announced $1,495 destination charge to MSRP. It is not an out-the-door price. Kia states that MSRP excludes destination and handling, taxes, title, license fees, options, and retailer charges. Actual transaction prices are set by the retailer and may vary. Recheck the current vehicle sticker and quote when you buy, especially if you are looking at a different model year or a market outside the United States.
Separate the seven parts of an EV3 quote
A clean quote lets you see what is fixed, what is imposed by government, what the dealer requires, and what you can decline. Ask the dealership to place each category on its own line rather than combining everything into a single “selling price” or monthly payment.

Use this step-by-step quote review before you visit or sign
- Confirm the identity of the vehicle. Match the model year, trim, FWD or AWD drivetrain, exterior and interior description, stock number and VIN on the quote. A price for a Wind FWD cannot be used to evaluate a Wind AWD or a different model year.
- Request the complete out-the-door quote in writing. Ask for a buyer’s order or equivalent worksheet showing the vehicle price, destination, every fee, every accessory, taxes, title, registration and the final amount. A screenshot of a monthly payment is not enough.
- Compare the vehicle price with the appropriate MSRP. Use the table above as the 2027 U.S. reference. Treat MSRP as a baseline, not a promise that a retailer must sell at that number. Identify whether the difference is a legitimate discount, an option, a market adjustment or an unexplained charge.
- Check destination separately. The announced amount is $1,495 for the 2027 EV3 in Kia’s cited U.S. announcement. Make sure it has not been hidden in an inflated vehicle price or charged twice.
- Classify every fee. Ask the dealer to state the amount, recipient and basis for each line. Mark it as government-required, dealer-required or optional. State rules can affect document-fee disclosure and registration charges, so do not assume a fee is lawful or unlawful solely from its name.
- Match equipment to the VIN-specific sticker. Obtain the vehicle-specific window sticker or Monroney label and equipment list. For each accessory line, determine whether the item is factory-installed, dealer-installed, already on the vehicle, removable, optional and included in the advertised price.
- Recalculate the total yourself. Add the vehicle price, destination, government charges and agreed products; subtract only discounts and rebates for which you qualify. Check the arithmetic on the dealer’s worksheet and compare it with the amount due.
- Review financing or leasing separately. For a purchase, verify amount financed, annual percentage rate, term, total of payments and optional products. For a lease, verify due at signing, payment, term, mileage allowance, excess-mileage rate, disposition charge and purchase option. A lower payment can simply reflect a longer term, a larger down payment or unwanted products.
- Remove unwanted items before signing. Request a revised written quote with the accessory or product deleted. Do not rely on a verbal promise that it will be removed later. Confirm the revised total and payment documents agree before you sign.
How to read the buyer’s order line by line
Vehicle selling price and adjustments
The first vehicle line should identify the agreed price for the specific EV3. Compare it with the relevant MSRP, but also look for separate “market adjustment,” “dealer adjustment,” “protection package” or “installed equipment” lines. If a discount appears, ask whether it is a dealer discount or a conditional rebate. A price that depends on financing, a trade-in, military status, residency or another qualification should say so in writing.
Destination and handling
For the 2027 U.S. EV3 reference, Kia announced a $1,495 destination charge. It is separate from MSRP. Ask the dealer to identify it plainly and verify that the same charge is not repeated under another description. Destination is not the same as a dealer documentation fee or an accessory package.
Taxes, title and registration
These amounts depend on the buyer’s jurisdiction, address, trade-in rules and registration choices. The dealer should identify the taxing or registering authority and explain any estimate that will be adjusted at registration. Do not treat a tax estimate as a dealer add-on, but do insist that the amount and calculation be visible.

Dealer fees
Dealers may use different names for documentation, processing, electronic filing, administrative, advertising or similar charges. The name does not tell you whether the fee is required, negotiable or government-imposed. Ask three questions for every line: who receives it, what is its stated basis, and is it required to purchase this EV3? Compare the advertised price with the written quote if a dealer-required amount appears only after you arrive.
Trade-in credits and payoff amounts
If you are trading a vehicle, keep the trade allowance, outstanding loan payoff and any negative equity separate from the EV3 price. A dealer can make the monthly payment look acceptable by moving negative equity into the new contract. Evaluate the EV3 cash price first, then evaluate the trade and payoff as separate transactions.
Spot dealer-added accessories and protection products
An accessory can be genuine equipment and still be optional. The key questions are whether it is on the VIN-specific equipment record, whether it is already installed, what it costs, and whether you agreed to buy it.

Kia identifies roof-rail crossbars and various roof-rack attachments as available for the 2027 EV3 at additional cost. That availability does not prove that a quoted item is wanted, installed, compatible with your configuration or part of the factory equipment. Verify fitment for the exact VIN and ask for the item to be removed from the quote if you do not want it.

What the FTC pricing guidance means for an advertised EV3 price
The Federal Trade Commission’s Automobile Industry Pricing Transparency FAQs describe staff guidance under the FTC Act. The guidance says an advertised vehicle price should be the price any consumer can pay, with government-required charges as the stated exception. Under that approach, dealer-required fees and other amounts the dealer requires and passes to buyers should be included in the advertised price, rather than revealed only after a customer arrives.
The guidance also addresses optional products. A dealer may offer an add-on, but should not imply that an optional item is mandatory, say that an installed option cannot be removed when that statement is misleading, misstate the option’s cost, or charge for an option the consumer did not agree to. It is staff guidance, not a ruling on a particular dealer, and local law can impose additional requirements. The FTC announcement accompanying the FAQs quotes Christopher Mufarrige, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection: “The FTC Act requires truthful and accurate pricing, which brings significant benefits for consumers and competition.”

Use this guidance as a practical comparison tool: save the advertisement, ask the dealer to reconcile it with the written buyer’s order, and request an explanation for any dealer-required amount that appears only later. Whether a particular fee violates state or federal law depends on the facts and applicable jurisdiction.

Review the amount financed, annual percentage rate, number of payments, total of payments and down payment. Ask whether an accessory, service contract, theft product or other item has been added to the amount financed. Financing an unwanted $1,000 product also creates interest cost, so compare the contract’s amount financed with the agreed cash price.

Leasing
Check the capitalized cost, capitalized-cost reduction, acquisition fee, due at signing, monthly payment, lease term, mileage allowance, excess-mileage rate, disposition fee and purchase option. An add-on can be included in the capitalized cost even when the payment increase looks small. Ask for the lease worksheet and identify each optional product before signing.
What to do when the quote changes
- Ask for a clean revision: “Please remove every accessory and protection product I did not request and send the updated out-the-door total.”
- Demand itemization: Ask the dealer to identify the recipient and basis of every fee, and to distinguish government charges from dealer charges.
- Reconcile the advertisement: Provide the saved advertised price and ask why the written quote differs.
- Do not negotiate only by payment: Return the discussion to selling price, total fees, amount financed or total lease obligation.
- Pause if documents conflict: If the buyer’s order, financing contract and lease worksheet show different prices or products, do not sign until they match.
- Keep copies: Save the advertisement, quote, VIN-specific sticker, buyer’s order and signed contracts.
Documents to have before signing
- VIN-specific window sticker or Monroney label and equipment list
- Itemized out-the-door buyer’s order
- Written explanation of each dealer fee
- Accessory or protection-product descriptions, prices and warranties
- Discount and rebate eligibility terms
- Cash worksheet, finance contract or lease worksheet
- Trade-in valuation and loan-payoff statement, if applicable
