Charge the Maruthisan MS 3.0 with the supplied Maruthisan intelligent charger, never an improvised substitute. Park securely, turn the ignition OFF, and charge the sealed 72 V/40 Ah lithium-ion battery indoors in a ventilated area from a normal 220 V household supply. A fully discharged battery takes approximately 4–5 hours. When the charger’s indicator is steadily green, switch the charger off, unplug it from the wall first, and then disconnect it from the bike.

Before you plug anything in
Choose a safe location
- Use a dry, level, ventilated indoor area. The manual calls the supplied charger for “ventilated INDOOR purpose.”
- Keep the charger and cable away from children, pets, standing water, fuel, and anything that can cover the ventilation openings.
- Keep the bike and charger out of direct sunlight. Sun-heated equipment can become abnormally hot during charging.
- Place the bike so it cannot roll or be knocked over. Use its normal stand and keep the charging cable away from wheels and walkways.
Let the battery cool after a ride
Do not connect the charger immediately after riding if the battery or charger is hot. Allow the bike to cool in the charging area first. The manual warns that charging immediately after riding, charging in sunlight, or leaving the charger on after a full charge can make the battery abnormally hot and may cause bulging.
Inspect the equipment
- Check the charger case, mains plug, output lead, and charging socket for cracks, crushed sections, exposed conductors, moisture, or scorching.
- Make sure the charging socket is clean and dry. Do not force the connector or use an adapter that changes its polarity.
- Confirm that the household circuit and its miniature circuit breaker (MCB) are in normal condition. The charging instructions require the MCB to be ON.
If the battery case is swollen, cracked, leaking, unusually hot, or gives off an odor, do not charge it. Move away from the bike, keep people clear, and arrange inspection by an appropriately qualified service provider or Maruthisan support. Do not open the sealed battery pack.
Step-by-step: charging an MS 3.0 at home
- Park securely. Put the MS 3.0 on a stable stand in the ventilated indoor location you selected. Keep the charging socket accessible without stretching the cable.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF. Charging begins with the bike switched off. Do not leave the ignition on while connecting the charger.
- Check the battery and socket. Ensure the battery area and charging socket are cool, dry, and free of visible damage.
- Use the supplied Maruthisan intelligent charger. Do not substitute a charger merely because its plug fits. The manual says the supplied charger is intended only for this battery.
- Connect the charger’s output cable to the battery charging socket. Push the connector fully home and confirm it is seated correctly. An improperly connected output cable can leave the charger LED green and create a false impression that charging is complete.
- Confirm the household MCB is ON. Use the normal 220 V household supply specified by the manual. Do not use a damaged outlet, loose extension connection, or a circuit that repeatedly trips.
- Switch on the charger. Keep the charger on a hard, uncovered surface where you can see its indicator and where air can circulate.
- Allow the charge to run. From full discharge, the stated full-charge time is approximately 4–5 hours. A partly charged battery may finish sooner. Stay within the manufacturer’s five-hour maximum for a single charging session.
- Watch the indicator. When the charger indicator is green and stable, charging is complete. Treat a green light as meaningful only after you have verified that the output connector is fully seated.
- Shut down in the correct order. Following the manual’s instruction—“When charging is complete [the indicator LED in Charger isGREEN], turnOFF the charger”—switch the charger OFF first. Unplug it from the wall outlet next, then disconnect the output cable from the battery charging socket.
- Store the charger safely. Let it cool, keep it dry and out of children’s and pets’ reach, and coil the cable loosely rather than sharply bending it.
How long charging takes and how to judge completion
Maruthisan states approximately 4–5 hours for a full charge from full discharge. That is an approximate manufacturer time, not a promise that every session will last exactly five hours. Starting state of charge, battery temperature, and the charger’s protection behavior can affect the elapsed time. A battery that was only partly depleted should normally require less time than one that was empty.

The green light is the completion signal; do not attempt to estimate a battery percentage from the light or from a fixed four-hour routine. If the indicator behavior is inconsistent, use the troubleshooting steps below rather than repeatedly cycling the charger.
Why the supplied charger matters
The MS 3.0 battery is a 72 V lithium-ion system. Its charger is specified as an intelligent unit with protection against output over-voltage, over-current, short circuit, high temperature, and reverse polarity. Those protections are part of the charging design, and a physically matching plug does not prove that another charger has the correct voltage, control behavior, polarity, or safeguards.
Maruthisan’s manual also says the charger is for this battery and warns against other uses. Do not use the MS 3.0 charger to charge another battery, and do not use a different charger simply because it is advertised as “72 V” or “lithium.” A nominal voltage label alone does not establish compatibility.

- Connector dimensions, pin arrangement, and polarity.
- Protection against over-voltage, over-current, short circuit, high temperature, and reverse polarity.
- Manufacturer or model compatibility explicitly naming the Maruthisan MS 3.0.
- Indoor, ventilated-use requirements and any temperature limits.
- Warranty and technical support that remain valid for the bike and battery.
If a seller cannot provide those details, do not connect the unit. The phrase “Maruthisan MS 3.0 replacement charger” identifies the part you need to investigate, but a listing’s plug fit or a generic 72 V description is not sufficient evidence of safety.
Safety rules you should not skip
Respect the five-hour limit
The manual says not to leave the charger ON and connected for more than five hours at a time. Once the indicator is green, turn the charger off and unplug it. Do not treat the charger as a permanent battery maintainer or leave it connected while you sleep or leave the house.
Control heat
Keep the battery and charger cool. Never cover the charger, place it in direct sun, charge immediately after riding while it is hot, or continue charging after the battery is full. Excess heat can make the battery abnormally hot and may cause bulging. Stop immediately if you see swelling or a sudden temperature rise.

Do not open the sealed charger. The manual says opening it voids the warranty, and internal repairs are not a safe do-it-yourself task. Do not modify the connector, splice the cable, bypass a fuse or protection device, or use the charger for another purpose.

Keep people and animals away
Place the charger where children and pets cannot pull on the cable or touch the equipment. Keep ventilation openings unobstructed, and prevent the cable from becoming a trip hazard.
Storage and infrequent use
A parked MS 3.0 still needs periodic charging. Maruthisan instructs owners to recharge the battery at least once every 30 days even when the bike is not being used. Set a calendar reminder rather than waiting for the battery to become completely depleted.
- Move the bike to a cool, ventilated indoor location.
- Inspect the battery area, socket, and charger for damage or moisture.
- Follow the same ignition-OFF and connection sequence used for normal charging.
- Stop when the indicator is green and stable, and never exceed the five-hour connected limit.
- Switch the charger OFF, unplug from the wall, disconnect from the battery, and store the charger dry.
Do not store the bike with the charger permanently attached. If the battery develops swelling, physical damage, or unusual heat while stored, do not attempt a “maintenance” charge; arrange professional assessment instead.
Troubleshooting common charging problems
The LED is green as soon as you connect the charger
First switch the charger OFF and unplug it from the wall. Check that the output connector is fully inserted into the charging socket and that the socket is clean and dry. Reconnect correctly and restart the charge. The manual specifically warns that an improperly connected output cable can leave the LED green without a completed charge. If the LED remains green immediately after a confirmed connection, stop using the charger and seek model-specific service rather than assuming the battery is full.

The charger does not start
- Verify the charger is connected to a functioning 220 V outlet.
- Confirm the household MCB is ON.
- Check that the charger’s mains plug and output connector are fully inserted.
- Inspect for visible cable, plug, socket, or charger damage.
Do not repeatedly reset a tripping MCB or use a damaged outlet. If the circuit trips again, disconnect the charger and have the electrical supply and charger checked.
The battery is still not full after four to five hours
Four to five hours is the stated approximate time from full discharge, not a guarantee for every condition. Confirm that the indicator has not changed to stable green, that the connector did not loosen, and that the charger and battery stayed within a normal temperature range. Do not extend the session beyond five hours to compensate. If normal charging repeatedly fails, the charger, connection, battery, or vehicle charging circuit needs qualified diagnosis.
The charger or battery becomes hot
Switch the charger OFF, unplug it from the wall, and disconnect it from the battery after it is safe to do so. Move people and pets away, keep the area ventilated, and allow the equipment to cool. Do not charge in sunlight or immediately after riding, and do not resume if the battery is swollen, damaged, or continues to heat abnormally.
You are unsure whether the battery is charged
Do not infer completion from a green LED that appeared immediately, from a fixed time, or from the bike’s range. Verify the connector seating and charging sequence. If the indication remains uncertain, stop at the five-hour limit and obtain advice from Maruthisan or a qualified technician familiar with the MS 3.0.
A practical pre-charge and post-charge checklist
Before charging
- Bike parked securely and ignition OFF.
- Battery and charger cool, dry, and free of visible damage.
- Indoor location ventilated, shaded, and clear of combustibles.
- Supplied/model-compatible intelligent charger selected.
- 220 V outlet available and MCB ON.
- Children and pets kept away; cable routed safely.
After charging
- Indicator green and stable, with the connector known to be seated correctly.
- Charger switched OFF within the manufacturer’s five-hour limit.
- Wall plug removed before the battery connector.
- Charger allowed to cool and stored dry.
- Any heat, swelling, odor, damage, or repeated fault recorded for service rather than ignored.
What the manual says
Maruthisan Private Limited’s Owner’s Manual describes the supplied unit as “a sophisticated & special purpose electric charger.” It also states, “When charging is complete [the indicator LED in Charger isGREEN], turnOFF the charger,” and identifies the charger as being for “ventilated INDOOR purpose.” These instructions align with the operating sequence: use the dedicated charger, control heat and ventilation, stop at the green completion indication, and disconnect promptly.
When to stop using the system
Stop charging and do not reconnect the equipment if you find a swollen or cracked battery pack, melted plastic, exposed wiring, repeated MCB trips, a damaged connector, a burning smell, smoke, sparking, or abnormal heat. Do not open the battery or charger to investigate. Keep the area clear and contact Maruthisan or a qualified electric-vehicle technician for model-specific help. A replacement charger or battery should not be fitted until its compatibility and protection functions are confirmed.
