Yes, you can charge some non-Tesla electric vehicles at Tesla Superchargers in South Korea, but access is selective. Your vehicle must support the CCS communication and safety protocols, and the specific station must be opened to non-Tesla vehicles. The Tesla app is the authority: it shows whether your vehicle is eligible, which locations are available, the exact charging post to select, and the live price.
Install Tesla app version 4.2.3 or later, create a Tesla account, add a payment method, and use the app’s Charge Your EV function before you leave. Do not assume that every Supercharger accepts a Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or another non-Tesla model, and do not buy a generic adapter without first confirming your car and the station.

What you need to use a Tesla Supercharger in Korea
Non-Tesla Supercharging in South Korea works only where Tesla has enabled the site for other electric vehicles. Tesla identifies South Korea as a supported region, but the opening is station by station rather than universal. A station that appears on a map for Tesla drivers may not be available to your vehicle.
There are three separate checks:
- Vehicle protocol: the vehicle must support CCS communication and safety protocols. Tesla’s Korean support guidance states that non-Tesla vehicles can use Supercharging only when they are CCS-supported vehicles.
- Vehicle and model approval: the Tesla app must recognize your manufacturer and model as eligible. A CCS connector alone does not guarantee access.
- Station opening: the particular Supercharger must be listed in the app as available for your vehicle at the time you plan to use it.
These checks are independent. A compatible car can still be refused by a site that is not participating, full, temporarily unavailable, or restricted to Tesla vehicles.

Do you need an adapter?
Do not start with an adapter purchase. First identify the connector and charging protocol fitted to your car, then check the exact Supercharger in the Tesla app. Tesla’s instructions require a CCS-compatible non-Tesla vehicle; they do not say that every non-Tesla driver should add a separate generic adapter.
Tesla Korea also has a CCS1-to-NACS adapter product page. That product is described for Tesla vehicles charging at third-party CCS1 stations. It is the opposite direction from the normal situation of a CCS non-Tesla vehicle using a Tesla Supercharger, so treating it as the required accessory for a Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, or another non-Tesla car would be misleading. The Tesla Korea page currently marks that product out of stock.
If the Tesla app tells you that an adapter is required for your particular vehicle or location, follow the app and the vehicle maker’s instructions. If it does not, do not insert an unapproved adapter: an incompatible device can prevent the safety handshake that allows charging to begin.

The app controls authorization, payment, post selection, and the start and stop commands. Complete the account setup somewhere with reliable internet rather than in a busy charging bay.
- Install or update the app. Use Tesla app version 4.2.3 or later.
- Create or sign in to a Tesla account. You can use the account even if you do not own a Tesla.
- Add a payment method. The app uses the saved method for the charging session and any applicable fees.
- Open “Charge Your EV.” This is the non-Tesla charging area in the app.
- Enter your vehicle details. Confirm that the manufacturer and model are accepted rather than relying only on the connector shape.
- Inspect the map immediately before departure. Select a site that the app shows as available to your vehicle, then review its current status, price, and any congestion-fee notice.
Availability and eligibility can change. Save a backup charging option in your route plan instead of treating an earlier map result as a guarantee.

How to charge step by step at the Supercharger
1. Choose a stall your cable can reach
Park within the marked bay and position the car so the Supercharger cable reaches the vehicle’s charging inlet without stretching across another space. Tesla warns that some station layouts do not suit every vehicle. A long or awkward cable path can force you to occupy a neighboring stall or leave the connector under tension.
If the connector cannot reach while you are correctly parked, do not block another stall and do not route the cable where another car could drive over it. Move to a suitable post or use another station.

2. Read the post label
Each post has a unique label, such as 4A. Read the label from the bay where you are parked. Selecting a nearby post by mistake can authorize the wrong stall or leave the cable disconnected from the post you chose.
3. Select that exact post in the app
In Charge Your EV, open the station and tap the matching post number. Tesla starts a two-minute connection timer when you select a post. You must connect the cable before the timer expires. If it expires, the session does not begin; select the post again and restart the process.
4. Unlock the connector or adapter when the app requests it
Where the app presents a large unlock button, press and hold it as directed. This releases the connector or the approved adapter for the session. Keep the vehicle unlocked if your car’s own charging procedure requires that, and follow the vehicle display if it asks for an additional confirmation.

5. Connect the CCS connector
Insert the connector fully into the vehicle’s charging inlet. A partial connection can fail the safety check. Stop if the connector does not seat normally; do not force it or use a damaged cable.
6. Tap “Start Charging”
After the connector is seated, tap Start Charging in the Tesla app. Look for a charging indication in both the app and the vehicle. If either shows a fault, follow the troubleshooting section below rather than repeatedly reconnecting a failed session.
7. Monitor the session
The delivered power is not automatically the station’s advertised maximum. Charging speed depends on your vehicle’s charging capability, battery temperature, state of charge, and the Supercharger hardware. An installation rated up to 250 kW may therefore deliver less to a particular car or at a particular moment.
How to stop and leave correctly
When you have enough energy, open the active session in the Tesla app and tap Stop Charging. Wait for the app and vehicle to show that the session has ended before removing the connector. Return the cable neatly to its holder and leave the bay promptly so another driver can use it.
Stopping from the app is important because unplugging without ending the authorized session can leave the transaction active or keep the connector locked. Check the final session screen for the recorded energy and charge amount.

Prices and congestion fees in South Korea
Tesla does not publish one universal non-Tesla Supercharger price for South Korea. Tesla says rates vary by station and appear in the Tesla app. The amount shown for one location should not be used to estimate another location.
Review the price after selecting the station and before you authorize the session. The app may also show a congestion fee. Tesla applies congestion fees to non-Tesla vehicles as well, so the total can depend on how long the car remains at the stall after charging conditions permit you to leave.
Because the rate is live and site-specific, record the displayed price and fee notice for your chosen station on the day of travel. A route planned from an old screenshot or a price quoted for a different site can be wrong.

How to choose among eligible Superchargers
When more than one site appears in the app, compare the factors that can affect whether the stop will actually work:

The first three factors are dynamic, so use the app rather than a static directory. Hardware rating and opening hours help with planning but do not override a live in-app restriction.
Troubleshooting common failures
The station does not appear for your car
Confirm that the app has the correct manufacturer and model, then check that you are using Charge Your EV rather than a Tesla-only map view. If the station still is not listed for your vehicle, treat it as unavailable and use another site. Do not drive there expecting the app to authorize it.
The two-minute timer expired
Reconnect the cable only after selecting the correct post again. The timer begins when the post is selected, not when you eventually approach the vehicle, so have the car positioned and the connector ready first.
Charging will not start
- Verify the selected post label matches the physical post.
- Check that the connector is fully inserted into the CCS inlet.
- Confirm the payment method is valid.
- Make sure the vehicle is eligible in the app, not merely CCS-equipped.
- End the failed attempt in the app if it remains open, then start a fresh session.
If the vehicle or app reports a safety fault, stop attempting to force the connection and contact Tesla support or your vehicle manufacturer according to the displayed instructions.
The cable does not reach
Reposition within the marked bay if that can be done without crossing another stall. If the connector still cannot reach, choose another post or station. Tesla specifically cautions that some layouts may not suit some vehicles; blocking an adjacent stall is not an acceptable workaround.
The station shows a lower charging rate than expected
Compare the vehicle display and app, then allow for battery temperature, state of charge, the vehicle’s own maximum, and station conditions. “Up to 250 kW” describes the installation’s rating, not a guaranteed rate for every car or every minute of a session.

Planning a trip with a non-Tesla EV
- Check the car’s charging standard and inlet. Confirm CCS support in the vehicle documentation or manufacturer app.
- Update Tesla app 4.2.3 or later and complete account and payment setup before departure.
- Search using Charge Your EV. Reject sites that do not show your vehicle as eligible.
- Compare live price, congestion notice, availability, hours, power rating, and cable reach.
- Keep a backup. Eligibility and stall status can change between planning and arrival.
- Arrive ready to connect. Know the post label and park so the cable reaches without obstructing another bay.
- End the session in the app and move the vehicle as soon as charging is complete.
What Tesla’s worldwide network figure does—and does not—tell you
Tesla’s current Korean support page says the company operates more than 80,000 Superchargers worldwide. That figure describes the global network, not the number of stations open to non-Tesla vehicles in South Korea. For a Korean journey, the relevant facts are the specific site’s eligibility, live availability, price, connector reach, hardware rating, and hours shown in the app.
