For the purchase, treat the advertised MSRP as a starting point rather than a drive-away price. Ask for a written, ZIP-specific buyer’s order that lists the negotiated motorcycle price, destination or freight, setup, documentation, accessories, tax, title and registration. The defensible estimate is the sum of those lines, less documented rebates or trade credit.

Book the Pursuit Limited test ride through a local dealer
1. Start with the manufacturer’s test-ride path
Open the Indian Motorcycle Pursuit model page for your market. Select Test Ride if the button is available. Some market pages instead direct shoppers through Get Local Price or Build Your Own; submit that form and choose an authorised dealer. The model page’s test-ride action is a lead request, not a guarantee that a demo motorcycle is immediately available.
2. Send complete vehicle details
Include your ZIP or postal code, the model year you want, the exact Pursuit Limited trim, colour and any must-have options. Ask the dealer to identify the demo’s model year and trim before you travel. A ride on a different Pursuit version can give you a misleading impression of equipment, engine calibration, seating or price.

3. Confirm the dealer’s appointment rules
Manufacturer pages do not establish one universal appointment policy. Ask the dealer whether you need a motorcycle endorsement, a full driver’s licence, proof of insurance, a minimum age, advance paperwork or specific protective gear. Confirm whether the dealer supplies a helmet or other equipment, and what happens if rain, extreme heat or another safety issue cancels the ride. Get the cancellation process and a rescheduling contact in writing or in the appointment email.
4. Make the appointment useful
Plan enough time for a complete walk-around and a second low-speed loop, not just a short demonstration ride. Tell the salesperson whether you will carry a passenger, ride mostly in town, tour on motorways or use the motorcycle in hot weather. Those details determine which parts of the test deserve the most attention.
5. Request the quote before you leave
Once you have confirmed that the motorcycle fits, ask for an itemised buyer’s order or written quote. It should separate the motorcycle price from destination or freight, setup, documentation and electronic-filing charges, accessories, taxes, title, registration and plates. A verbal “out-the-door” number is difficult to audit if a fee or accessory is added later.
What exactly are you pricing?
Model year and market must appear on every comparison. Indian Motorcycle’s published figures show why a year label matters:

The $32,499 figure is for the Pursuit family’s current starting point, not proof that every Limited carries that exact MSRP. A dealer may be quoting a different year, a previous-year unit, a demonstrator or a motorcycle with factory and dealer-installed additions. Put the year, trim and stock number on the quote so the number can be traced to one motorcycle.

Why MSRP is not your final price
Indian Motorcycle’s price disclaimer states that MSRP is subject to change and excludes destination and handling fees, tax, title, license and registration. It also says dealer prices may vary and adds destination charge and setup. Those exclusions are why two dealers can advertise the same motorcycle yet produce different totals.
A US dealer inventory listing for a 2026 Pursuit Limited shows destination as a separate line, so ask for freight or destination explicitly rather than assuming it is included. The Canadian official page follows the same structure by separating MSRP, freight and dealer setup and identifying a model-dependent logistics surcharge. Charges and taxes are jurisdiction-specific; do not transfer a US quote to Canada or another country.

Build the estimate in the same order that the buyer’s order should show it:
out-the-door estimate = negotiated motorcycle price + destination/freight + dealer setup + documentation/processing + installed accessories/options + sales/use tax + title/registration/plate fees − documented rebates or trade creditAsk the dealer to label each item as a factory charge, dealer charge or government charge. That distinction helps you decide what can be negotiated and what must be paid to the relevant authority.
Negotiated motorcycle price
Clarify whether the headline number is the published MSRP, a dealer sale price or a discount tied to a particular stock unit. If it is a previous-year motorcycle or a demo, have the quote state the model year, mileage and in-service date. A lower number is not comparable until those details are known.

Destination or freight
This is the transportation charge shown separately from MSRP on the manufacturer’s disclaimer and on dealer inventory examples. Request the exact amount for the stock number you are considering. Do not assume that a dealer’s advertising system has folded freight into the headline price.

Setup, assembly or pre-delivery inspection
Indian’s disclaimer identifies setup as an additional amount. Ask what the charge covers, whether it is mandatory for that motorcycle and whether any assembly, inspection or preparation work has already been included elsewhere. Ensure that a setup line does not duplicate a separate accessory-installation line.
Documentation and electronic-processing fees
Dealers may list document preparation, electronic filing or processing separately. Request each fee by name and amount. A single “dealer fee” line makes it impossible to tell whether you are paying for paperwork, a service product or an accessory installation.
Factory options and dealer-installed accessories
List every option and accessory, its price and its installation charge. Official model pages caution that displayed motorcycles may include modifications or accessories, so the pictured or test-ridden equipment is not automatically part of base MSRP. Ask the salesperson to identify what is factory-installed, what was added by the dealer and what is aftermarket.
Tax, title, registration and plates
These amounts depend on your tax jurisdiction and registration details. Ask whether the quote uses your home address, a trade-in credit or a different delivery location. Verify that title, registration and plate charges are shown separately from dealer fees and that any taxable accessory or service is included in the tax calculation.

Rebates, trade credit and financing conditions
Subtract only incentives documented on the buyer’s order. Ask whether a rebate requires manufacturer financing, a qualifying trade-in, a specific inventory date or another condition. Keep trade allowance, payoff of an existing loan and the motorcycle’s purchase price as separate lines; combining them can hide the real price.
How to obtain a quote you can compare
- Identify the unit. Record model year, Pursuit Limited trim, colour, stock or vehicle identification number and mileage if it is a demo.
- Separate price types. Ask whether each advertised figure is MSRP, a sale price, a demo price or a previous-year price.
- Request every non-government charge. Have the dealer list destination or freight, setup or PDI, documentation, electronic filing and any other dealer fee as separate lines.
- Itemise equipment. Record factory options, dealer-installed accessories, aftermarket parts and installation labour individually.
- Apply your jurisdiction. Ask the dealer to calculate sales or use tax, title, registration and plate charges using your actual ZIP or postal code.
- Document incentives. Note the amount, expiration date and eligibility conditions for each rebate, trade credit or finance-linked offer.
- Get a validity date. Ask how long the quote remains valid and what event can change it, such as a model-year update, an incentive expiry or a change in inventory.
- Check the total. Add the lines yourself and compare the result with the dealer’s stated out-the-door figure before signing.
What to evaluate on the test ride
A Pursuit Limited is a large touring motorcycle, so a five-minute straight-line ride does not answer the ownership questions that matter most. Use a deliberate route and make notes immediately afterward.
Fit and reach
- Check whether both feet can reach the ground in the stops and manoeuvres you expect to make.
- Evaluate reach to the bars, clutch, brake lever, mirrors and infotainment controls without leaning forward or locking your elbows.
- With a passenger aboard, confirm that the seating position, foot placement and grab points work for both riders.
Low-speed balance and controls
- Perform slow, tight turns in an empty area and note steering effort, clutch take-up and throttle response.
- Try repeated stops and starts to assess brake feel and how easy it is to keep the motorcycle balanced.
- Check reverse or parking manoeuvres using the method the dealer demonstrates; do not infer equipment that is not fitted to the demo.
Engine, heat and touring comfort
- Notice how the PowerPlus 112 delivers power during gentle acceleration and overtaking, without treating a short ride as an independent performance test.
- Pay attention to heat around your legs and passenger seating at urban speeds and while stopped.
- Evaluate wind protection, screen position, mirror coverage, vibration and noise at the speeds you normally ride.
Infotainment and rider information
- Check the display’s legibility in direct light and whether you can operate key functions with gloves.
- Verify the controls and menus you would use for navigation, Apple CarPlay, bike health and bike locator on the actual motorcycle.
- Ask which connectivity functions are included for the first year and what terms apply afterward; do not assume the demo’s subscription status matches a new sale.
Equipment audit
Photograph or write down the windscreen, luggage, lighting, audio, heated equipment, paint treatment and other additions on the demo. Compare that list with the proposed sale unit. If an accessory changes the ride or appearance, have its exact part and installation cost added to the written quote before you use it in a price comparison.

Compare matching facts, not just the largest number on each advertisement. Use this sequence:
- Model identity: same model year, Pursuit Limited trim and market.
- Powertrain and equipment: same engine specification and the same rider-assistance, display and connectivity equipment.
- Condition: new, demo or previous-year status, including mileage and in-service date where relevant.
- Equipment source: factory options versus dealer-installed accessories and aftermarket parts.
- Charges: destination, setup, documentation, electronic filing and other dealer fees shown separately.
- Tax basis: the same registration address and treatment of trade credit, accessories and taxable services.
- Transaction assumptions: financing, trade-in, rebate eligibility, warranty or maintenance inclusions and quote expiration.
- Total: final out-the-door amount payable for the same delivery conditions.
If one dealer will not separate these items, ask for a revised buyer’s order. You cannot establish that a motorcycle is cheaper when one quote includes freight and accessories while the other shows MSRP alone.

Common booking and pricing problems
The dealer has no matching demo
Ask whether another authorised location has a Pursuit Limited with the same model year and equipment. If you ride a different trim, record every difference and schedule a second inspection of the intended unit before signing.
The advertised price changes at the desk
Return to the written quote and ask which line changed and why. A model-year correction, an expired incentive, freight, setup or an accessory added after the ride should be identifiable. Do not rely on a new total that is not itemised.
The test ride motorcycle has extra equipment
Separate the feel of the base motorcycle from the effect of added screens, luggage, exhaust, suspension or other modifications. Decide whether you want those parts, then price them as individual options rather than treating them as standard Limited equipment.

Request a cash price and a financed price on separate sheets. Confirm the amount financed, trade allowance, loan payoff, rebate conditions and total due at signing. A lower monthly payment does not establish a lower purchase price.
Weather or paperwork prevents the ride
Reschedule rather than treating a stationary walk-around as a substitute for riding. Use the delay to obtain the itemised quote, confirm the demo’s equipment and verify your licence, endorsement, insurance and protective-gear requirements.
Market and model-year cautions
The 2025 US Limited starting MSRP of $31,999 and the current US Pursuit-family starting MSRP of $32,499 are different anchors from different model-year contexts. Neither establishes a universal price in another country, and neither includes the destination, setup, taxes and registration that appear on a buyer’s order.
Canadian pricing uses the same basic separation of MSRP, freight and dealer setup but can include a model-dependent logistics surcharge. Ask for a quote in the currency and tax jurisdiction where the motorcycle will be registered. Do not convert a US advertised figure and call the result a Canadian out-the-door estimate.

Final pre-purchase checklist
- The appointment was booked through the model-page test-ride or dealer-request path.
- The demo’s model year, Pursuit Limited trim, engine and equipment match the motorcycle being quoted.
- Your licence, motorcycle endorsement, insurance, age and protective-gear requirements are confirmed with the dealer.
- The quote identifies the exact stock unit and states whether it is new, a demo or a previous-year motorcycle.
- Negotiated price, destination or freight, setup, documentation, accessories, taxes, title, registration and plates are separate lines.
- Rebates and trade credits have written eligibility conditions and expiration dates.
- The stated total equals the itemised lines and represents the amount due under the agreed delivery and financing conditions.
The dealer’s written, location-specific buyer’s order is the authoritative answer to what your Pursuit Limited will cost. Use the published MSRP and specifications to prepare for the conversation, use the test ride to verify fit and equipment, and use the itemised total—not the headline price—to make the purchase decision.
