What changed for the 2025 Ram 1500?
Ram’s 2025 update is best understood as a shift in powertrains and cabin technology, rather than a demonstrated victory over competing full-size pickups. The headline is the Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six, offered in standard-output and high-output forms. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 with eTorque remains available, so the lineup is not exclusively six-cylinder turbocharged.
The HEMI V-8 was not part of the described 2025 lineup. Ram later announced that a 5.7-liter HEMI eTorque would return for the 2026 model year. That is a separate model-year change, not an engine option for the 2025 truck.

The Hurricane ratings are useful for understanding the range of the new engines, but peak horsepower and torque alone do not establish how a truck performs while towing, how it feels in everyday driving, or how its fuel economy compares with a rival. Ram’s statement that the new engines bring “more power, more performance and more fuel efficiency” is the company’s positioning, not independent validation. Stellantis’ 2025 launch announcement and its 2026 HEMI announcement distinguish the model years and published ratings.

How much can a 2025 Ram 1500 tow or carry?
Ram’s launch announcement gives lineup-wide maximums of 11,580 pounds of towing and 2,300 pounds of payload. Those are configuration-dependent maxima, not ratings for every truck or a guarantee that a particular build can achieve both figures.
For the high-output version, Ram’s 2025 model page lists up to 10,740 pounds of towing and 1,370 pounds of payload. These figures are specific to the HO entry on that page and should not be merged with the higher lineup-wide maxima to create a supposed HO rating. The published figures are:

For a purchase or towing decision, use the towing chart for the exact cab, bed, drivetrain, axle ratio and installed equipment, then check the payload label on the truck’s door jamb. The configuration-specific ratings—not the headline lineup maximum—determine what a particular vehicle is rated to tow and carry.
What changed inside the cabin?
Technology and upscale equipment are a large part of the 2025 truck’s repositioning. Depending on trim and configuration, the available displays include a 14.5-inch Uconnect touchscreen, a 10.25-inch passenger display and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Stellantis also lists an available digital rearview mirror and head-up display. These are availability-dependent features, not standard equipment across the range; check the build sheet for the particular truck.

The trim lineup gives buyers different priorities. Tungsten is positioned at the luxury end, with features Ram describes as including 24-way seats and premium audio. Rebel emphasizes off-road hardware, including 33-inch tires, raised ride height, lifted suspension and Bilstein shocks. Equipment can vary by market and build, so confirm the exact configuration rather than assuming every trim name guarantees a fixed set of features. What does the RHO add?
The high-output Hurricane provides a 540-hp, 521-lb-ft option in the 2025 lineup, and the RHO brings that high-output direction to the range as a distinct model. Its presence broadens the truck’s appeal beyond conventional work and luxury trims. The published material here does not establish comparative off-road test results against competing performance pickups, so the RHO’s existence and engine rating should not be mistaken for proof of segment-leading performance.

Can the Ram 1500 power tools from its bed?
An available bed-mounted inverter is rated by Stellantis at up to 2 kW and provides two covered outlets in the bed. The company cites lights and saws as examples of equipment it can power. That does not mean those tools are included, and the stated inverter capacity should not be taken as a rating for each outlet or every accessory without checking the truck’s specifications.
Does the 2025 Ram 1500 have a HEMI?
No. The HEMI was absent from the described 2025 lineup. In June 2025, Stellantis announced the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 eTorque for the 2026 Ram 1500, rated at 395 hp and 410 lb-ft. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis described the company’s decision to drop the engine and bring it back as a mistake in that announcement; that is the company’s own characterization, not an independent assessment of the 2025 truck.

What should buyers compare before choosing one?
The 2025 Ram changes the choices available within its own lineup, but a meaningful purchase comparison requires more than engine ratings or a maximum tow number. Match the configurations and equipment you would actually buy:
- Powertrain: Compare engine output, fuel requirements and the available fuel-economy information for the specific configuration. Ram specifically calls for premium fuel for optimum HO performance and engine longevity over extended use.
- Capability: Check towing and payload for the exact cab, bed, drivetrain, axle ratio and equipment, rather than relying on lineup maximums.
- Cabin and driver assistance: Confirm which displays and other features are included on the trim and build under consideration.
- Intended use: Compare the work-focused needs of towing and payload with the off-road hardware of Rebel or the luxury equipment of Tungsten.
- Price and real-world performance: Compare actual transaction prices and independent tests for equivalent configurations. The cited material does not supply current transaction prices, a complete competitor comparison, or independent road-test or reliability results.
On the evidence available, the 2025 Ram 1500 makes a consequential change to its engine menu and gives technology and trim differentiation a prominent role. Whether that changes the buying decision against an F-150, Silverado 1500 or Sierra 1500 depends on the exact build and priorities; the published facts do not establish a segment-wide winner.
