The concept is designed to be lightweight and modular, but owners of compact SUVs should wait for final specifications before treating it as a match for their vehicle.
What is the Honda Base Station?
The Base Station is Honda’s prototype travel trailer, presented as a compact camping option intended to be towable by a broader range of vehicles. Honda’s U.S. page describes the concept and says the company will share more as development continues. It does not provide production specifications or confirm that the trailer will go on sale. Honda España’s February 27, 2026 article names the CR-V as an example of a compact SUV and also refers to electrified vehicles. That is broad concept positioning, not a towing guarantee for every CR-V, trim, model year, or other vehicle. Honda España’s Base Station article
What Honda has described so far
Sleeping and interior space
Honda describes a queen-size sleeping area and a pop-up section that provides standing and changing space. The company has not published dimensions for the prototype on its U.S. page, so the sleeping-area label does not establish the trailer’s overall size or usable interior measurements.

Five modular window openings
The concept has five standard window modules that Honda says can be exchanged for optional features such as a kitchen, air conditioning, or a shower. Honda has not confirmed which modules will be offered for sale, their prices, or final specifications. Its description of the modules and “garageable storage” is about the prototype, not a guarantee that a finished trailer will fit a particular garage.
Power concept
Honda describes a lithium battery system, inverter, and onboard solar panels, managed through the Base Station app or an interior display. It also describes connections to campsite power or a Honda generator. These are prototype features; Honda has not published detailed production power-capacity specifications.

Can a compact SUV tow the Base Station?
There is not enough published information to determine that for any particular vehicle. Honda’s broad compact-SUV positioning does not establish compatibility, and the available official materials do not give the trailer’s production weight or hitch requirements. A vehicle’s towing limit alone would not settle the question: the trailer’s final specifications and the vehicle’s ratings and configuration must be checked together.
Before deciding whether a production Base Station can be towed by a specific SUV, owners will need to compare Honda’s final trailer specifications with their vehicle’s towing and payload ratings, hitch requirements, and the guidance for that model year and configuration. Until those figures are available, no particular compact SUV—including a CR-V—can be called compatible based on the concept description alone.

Is the Honda Base Station available, and what will it cost?
Honda’s U.S. page identifies the Base Station as a prototype and says the company will share more as development continues. It has not announced a retail launch date or price. The optional modules are also not presented as finalized products with confirmed availability or prices.
