The 2025 Porsche Panamera aims to combine a comfortable ride with controlled handling through its standard adaptive two-valve air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Porsche says the dampers adjust compression and rebound separately, helping the car absorb road imperfections while keeping the body more stable in dynamic driving. That is the manufacturer’s explanation of the design, not a guarantee that every driver will find the ride perfect.
How the Panamera’s standard suspension balances comfort and control
Porsche says the new Panamera comes standard with adaptive air suspension and PASM. Its two-valve dampers control compression and rebound separately, allowing the system to respond differently as a wheel moves up over a bump or settles back down. Porsche describes the aim as softening impacts from transverse road joints and damaged surfaces while improving body stability in dynamic driving. Porsche Newsroom’s Panamera press-kit summary and its chassis and brakes overview explain the system and its intended benefits.
This is the core of the ride-and-handling proposition: the air springs support ride comfort, while adaptive damping helps manage body movement. The system is designed to address both goals rather than requiring a simple choice between softness and firmness. Actual impressions will still vary with road surface, driving mode, fitted wheels and tires, and driver preference.
What Porsche Active Ride adds
Porsche Active Ride is a separate, more advanced chassis system described for E-Hybrid Panamera models. Porsche says it uses active dampers connected to electrically driven hydraulic pumps, working with single-chamber air springs. The system can generate forces between the body and wheels to respond to uneven surfaces, counter pitch and roll, manage wheel loads, and support grip. These are Porsche’s technical descriptions, not independently measured comparisons.

Active Ride also enables motion behaviors beyond conventional adaptive damping. With the relevant settings activated, Porsche says the car can lean inward through a corner and counter body movement during acceleration or braking. Porsche’s technical feature on Porsche Active Ride describes system behavior in Normal, Sport, and Sport Plus modes; the manufacturer says the benefits are available in all three, while the system’s design varies by mode.
Which Panamera versions have Active Ride?
Equipment depends on the market and specific configuration. Porsche’s press kit describes Active Ride as an option for E-Hybrid models, while the current US model page says it is optional on E-Hybrid models and standard on the Turbo S E-Hybrid. The regular adaptive air suspension with PASM is described as standard for the Panamera. Check the equipment list or VIN-specific build details for the exact car rather than inferring its suspension from the model name alone. See the Porsche USA Panamera model page for US-market equipment descriptions.

What to compare when judging comfort and handling
The available Porsche descriptions explain engineering intent but do not establish a controlled independent, back-to-back comparison of Panamera variants. When assessing a particular car, compare the equipment actually fitted and consider:

- Each vehicle is screwed on base and presented in a Plexiglas box
- Suspension: distinguish standard adaptive air suspension with PASM from Porsche Active Ride.
- Ride comfort: pay attention to how the car deals with bumps and joints at the speeds and on the roads you normally use.
- Body control: notice pitch under braking or acceleration and roll through corners, while accounting for any Active Ride settings that are enabled.
- Handling and traction: evaluate the response in the relevant driving mode rather than assuming every version behaves identically.
- Configuration: verify the market, trim, wheels, tires, and suspension equipment of the specific vehicle.
