How the 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo S Uses Two Electrified Turbos

The 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo S combines two electrically assisted turbos with an integrated performance-hybrid system. Here is how the eTurbos work and how the setup differs from the Carrera GTS.

The 2025 Porsche 911 Turbo S pairs two electrically assisted turbochargers with a 3.6-litre flat-six and an integrated hybrid system. Each eTurbo uses an electric motor to spool its turbo shaft, helping build boost without waiting for engine exhaust flow alone. Porsche rates the system at 523 kW (711 PS) and 800 Nm; this is a performance hybrid, not evidence of plug-in charging or electric-only range.

What is new about the Turbo S T-Hybrid?

Porsche introduced its T-Hybrid system in the 911 Carrera GTS in 2024, where it uses one eTurbo. The 2025 911 Turbo S adopts two specially configured eTurbos. That is the key distinction behind describing the Turbo S as both twin-turbo and electrified: each turbo has electric assistance, rather than the car relying on a single electrically assisted turbo.

Porsche’s October 2025 explainer listed the 911 Carrera GTS variants, 911 Targa 4 GTS, 911 Turbo S and 911 Turbo S Cabriolet as T-Hybrid models at that time. Model availability and naming can vary by market and date.

How does an electric turbocharger work?

An electric motor helps the turbo spool

In each Turbo S eTurbo, an electric motor sits between the compressor and turbine wheels and drives the turbo shaft directly. Because the motor can accelerate the turbo independently of engine load, it can help build boost sooner instead of relying only on exhaust gas to spin the turbine. The aim is quicker boost response.

The turbo can also recover energy

The eTurbo motor can operate as a generator when shaft rotation provides energy to recover. Porsche says that electricity can flow to the high-voltage battery or directly to the electric motor integrated into the PDK transmission. The turbo therefore contributes both to boost response and to the system’s energy recovery.

What components make up the Turbo S hybrid system?

Porsche’s system combines several elements as one performance powertrain:

  • Power electronics.
  • An eight-speed PDK transmission with an integrated electric motor.

The eTurbo motors are part of this integrated system; their presence alone does not mean the car is a plug-in hybrid. Porsche’s reviewed material does not establish a charging capability or an electric-only driving range for the Turbo S.

What performance figures does Porsche claim?

For the 2025 911 Turbo S, Porsche publishes 523 kW (711 PS) system output and 800 Nm maximum system torque. Porsche says the new model has 61 PS more than its predecessor. Its claimed 0–100 km/h time of 2.5 seconds applies to the Turbo S Coupé.

What the Nürburgring time does—and does not—show

Porsche reports a 7:03.92 lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, set during final development drives in autumn 2024 under notarial supervision. The company says that is around 14 seconds quicker than the predecessor. This is a manufacturer-reported development result, not an independent road or track test.

Is the 911 Turbo S a plug-in hybrid?

The reviewed Porsche material describes an integrated performance-hybrid system, but does not establish that the Turbo S is plug-in capable or give it an electric-only range. Do not infer either feature from the high-voltage battery or electric motors. Porsche’s Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid is a different configuration: Porsche describes that model as a plug-in hybrid with a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, an integrated electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery. Those Panamera details do not describe the 911 Turbo S.
