The company says participating shops will provide service, repairs and accessory installation, with selected locations trained for Slate-specific high-voltage work. Those are announced plans, not a record of owner experience: Slate describes the truck as preproduction, and local service availability may vary.
What repair options does Slate say owners will have?
Slate’s stated approach is to give owners a choice rather than require them to use one service channel. The three routes differ in who does the work and what is established about support:
| Route | Who does the work | What Slate says it supports | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Do-it-yourself | The owner | Slate advertises free repair manuals and diagnostics, and says Slate University will provide written instructions and how-to videos. | Documentation availability and task suitability vary. The company’s statements do not establish that every repair is appropriate or safe for an owner to perform. |
| Independent mechanic | A shop chosen by the owner | Slate says owners may use an independent mechanic. | Ask whether the shop has the capability and information needed for the specific work, and check the applicable warranty terms. |
| Slate-certified RepairPal shop | A participating network shop | Slate says shops will offer service, repairs and accessory installation. Selected locations are to receive Slate-specific high-voltage procedures and training. | Not every location is promised to handle every repair or warranty work. Confirm local Slate-specific capability rather than assuming general EV experience is sufficient. |
Can owners repair a Slate Truck themselves?
Slate advertises detailed manuals and diagnostics without a paywall on its service page. Its maintenance page says Slate University will offer step-by-step written instructions and how-to videos; the company FAQ also describes videos about maintenance. These resources indicate an intent to make some work more accessible, but they do not establish that all repair documentation is already available or that every task is suitable for DIY.
High-voltage battery and electrical work is a different matter from routine owner maintenance. Slate has said selected RepairPal shops will receive Slate-specific procedures for such work; owners should not infer from the availability of manuals that opening or repairing high-voltage components is an appropriate DIY job.

Tweddle Group, which announced on April 22, 2026 that it would develop technical-support deliverables and tools for Slate Auto, described the vehicle as designed to accommodate user-serviceable modifications and repairs. That is a partner executive’s characterization of design intent, not an independent assessment of how easy or inexpensive repairs will be.
Where can owners get Slate service?
RepairPal is Slate’s announced local-shop channel. Slate says participating shops are intended to provide service, repairs and accessory installation. Its FAQ says owners will be able to schedule through RepairPal’s website or the upcoming Slate app; availability should be checked when those tools and services are live.
The published network figures are not consistent across Slate materials, so they should be read with their source and date rather than combined into a single verified count:
Rank #2
| Figure | Source and date | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| 3,800+ service centers nationwide | Slate’s service page, checked October 5, 2026 | A current-page headline count; it does not establish how many nearby locations can perform a particular Slate repair. |
| 3,000 RepairPal Certified shops nationwide | Slate FAQ, checked October 5, 2026 | The FAQ’s network figure; it does not show local Slate-specific training or warranty capability. |
| 3,000+ RepairPal shops, including over 100 service centers able to perform high-voltage EV service | Slate announcement dated June 24, 2026 | A company-announced count, not a live locator audit or a count of shops trained on Slate-specific procedures. |
| More than 200 U.S. RepairPal locations certified for high-voltage EV repairs | Slate announcement dated October 28, 2025 | This refers to RepairPal’s general EV capability, not the number of locations already trained for Slate Truck work. |
Slate’s October 28, 2025 announcement said service centers are typically within 100 miles, while cautioning that warranty service may not be available at every location. The materials do not establish a live list of shops capable of Slate warranty work. A shop’s general EV high-voltage certification should not be treated as proof that it has completed Slate-specific training.
Will RepairPal install Slate accessories?
Yes, Slate says participating RepairPal shops are expected to install Slate accessories as well as provide service and repairs. That gives owners a planned shop-based route for accessory installation, but the company materials do not identify the work or accessories each location will support. Confirm the specific installation with the shop before scheduling.

Slate’s service page, checked October 5, 2026, lists these headline terms, which its FAQ also repeats:
Rank #3
- Step-by-step procedures linked to over 700 easy-to-follow photos and illustrations
- Complete troubleshooting section helps identify specific problems
- Written from hand-on experience based on a vehicle teardown and rebuild using commonly available tools
- Tips give valuable short cuts to make the job easier and eliminate the need for special tools
- 700 b/w photos
- Battery and powertrain: 10 years or 110,000 miles.
- Standard limited vehicle warranty: 4 years or 50,000 miles.
- Roadside assistance: 4 years or 50,000 miles.
These summary figures do not determine whether a particular repair is covered. The pages reviewed do not provide complete exclusions, claim procedures or component-by-component coverage terms; consult the governing warranty documents for a coverage decision.
What maintenance does Slate expect?
Slate describes routine upkeep as simpler than maintenance on a combustion vehicle, while its FAQ names brakes, tires, cooling fluids, the cabin filter and wiper fluids as maintenance areas. That list helps set expectations, but the cited materials do not give a complete maintenance schedule or establish owner costs and repair frequency.

Slate says deliveries are planned to begin in late 2026, and its June 2026 service announcement describes the truck as preproduction. As a result, there is not yet an established owner track record in the cited materials for repair costs, failure rates, customer satisfaction or how well the service network performs in practice.
