The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado has 38% U.S./Canadian parts content in the latest NHTSA American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA) carline table. That is a combined U.S. and Canadian figure—not a U.S.-only percentage and not the share of the truck assembled in America. Silverado assembly locations vary by version and vehicle, so check the specific truck’s window label and VIN.
What does 38% U.S./Canadian parts content mean?
NHTSA’s AALA figure measures the share, by value, of qualifying equipment installed in the vehicle that originated in the United States and/or Canada. It is not a count of parts, a share of labor hours, or a measure of how much final assembly took place in the United States. The AALA table reports final-assembly location, major foreign parts sources, and engine and transmission origins in separate fields.
The latest located report, NHTSA’s 2026 model-year table published in 2025, lists the Silverado carline at 38% U.S./Canadian parts content. The 2025 model-year table, also published in 2025, lists 37%. That one-percentage-point difference is between annual carline-level reports; it does not establish that every trim, powertrain, or individual truck changed by one point.
Neither figure gives a U.S.-only content percentage. NHTSA explains the label’s parts-content field in its Part 583 AALA parts-content definition.

Where are Silverado trucks assembled?
The 2026 AALA carline table lists U.S. final assembly for the Silverado, as well as additional assembly in Mexico and/or Canada. It also names Mexico among the major foreign parts-content sources. These are carline disclosures, not a complete component-by-component origin map for every truck; engine and transmission origins are listed separately and may have multiple origins.
Facilities differ by version. GM lists Silverado HD among the products built at Flint Assembly in Michigan. GM also announced on June 10, 2025, that Factory ZERO in Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan, would be the dedicated assembly location for the Silverado EV. Those specific plant details do not mean that every Silverado is assembled in the United States.

How to check where a particular Silverado was built
- Read the window label. Look for the AALA content and assembly information for that vehicle. NHTSA’s explanation of the label describes what the U.S./Canadian parts-content field represents.
- Find the VIN’s plant code. The VIN is on the vehicle and its paperwork. GM’s 2025 Vehicle Identification Numbering Standards document, effective September 24, 2024, identifies position 11 as the plant-location character and describes region-of-build information in the VIN format.
- Confirm what the code means. Use a VIN decoder or ask GM or a dealer to interpret the plant code. The VIN identifies the individual vehicle; the AALA percentage is a carline-level content disclosure.
What to compare when shopping
For a meaningful origin comparison, match the model year and vehicle version first, then compare the same kinds of information: U.S./Canadian parts content, major foreign parts sources, final-assembly country, and engine and transmission origins. A combined parts-content percentage cannot stand in for an assembly location or a U.S.-only content figure.
