Current Japan pricing runs from the mid-¥5 million range for a Z gasoline model to more than ¥10 million for a high-end PHEV Executive Lounge, before options and import costs. Bringing one to the United States is mainly a federal safety-and-emissions certification issue, followed by shipping, duty and state-registration requirements.
What a Toyota Alphard costs in Japan
Toyota’s published prices are Japanese manufacturer prices. They do not include options, registration, domestic delivery, ocean freight, insurance, customs duty, compliance work, exchange-rate changes or US taxes.

| Publication and vehicle scope | Published Japan MSRP | What the figure covers |
|---|---|---|
| Toyota 2023 launch lineup: gasoline, hybrid and Executive Lounge grades | ¥5,400,000–¥8,720,000 | The announced range across the then-current grades and powertrains |
| Toyota 2024 announcement for the 2025 Alphard X hybrid | ¥5,100,000 | Japan MSRP for the specified X hybrid grade |
| Toyota 2024 announcement for the six-seat Alphard PHEV Executive Lounge | ¥10,650,000 | Japan MSRP for that six-seat plug-in-hybrid luxury grade |
| Toyota Japan June 2026 model-year Z, front-wheel drive | ¥5,599,000 | Current listed price for the gasoline Z 2WD/FF configuration |
| Toyota Japan June 2026 model-year Z, full-time four-wheel drive | ¥5,797,000 | Current listed price for the gasoline Z 4WD configuration |
The June 2026 Z figures are the clearest current reference for a normally equipped Alphard: four-wheel drive adds ¥198,000 to the listed front-wheel-drive price. The broader launch ranges show why a single “Alphard price” is misleading: grade, powertrain, seating and equipment change the number substantially.
Which Alphard versions drive the price?
Gasoline Z
The gasoline Z is the entry point in Toyota’s current catalog. The June 2026 list gives separate front-wheel-drive and full-time four-wheel-drive prices, with the latter carrying the premium shown above.

Hybrid grades
Hybrid versions are part of the Alphard range and include the X hybrid announced for the 2025 model year. Their exact prices depend on grade and drivetrain; the published figures above should not be treated as a universal hybrid price.
Executive Lounge
Executive Lounge is the luxury-oriented end of the range. Its higher price reflects equipment and cabin specification rather than simply a different engine. Toyota’s 2023 launch table placed the top of the gasoline, hybrid and Executive Lounge range at ¥8,720,000.
Six-seat PHEV Executive Lounge
The six-seat plug-in-hybrid Executive Lounge announced for the 2025 lineup was listed at ¥10,650,000. Six-seat and seven-seat layouts are not interchangeable: seating capacity is part of the grade and interior specification.

Is there a US Toyota Alphard price?
No official US MSRP is published for the Alphard in the Toyota US sources reviewed. Toyota’s current documentation describes the model as a Japan-market vehicle, and it is not listed as a normal new vehicle in the US Toyota lineup. A dealer cannot order one through the ordinary US Toyota sales channel in the way it can order a Sienna.

- Brand new box
- Real rubber tires.
- Detailed interior, exterior.
- Die-cast metal body and chassis,
- Dimensions approximately L-2.75 inches long.
That absence is different from saying that no Alphard can ever enter the country. It means Toyota is not offering a US-certified Alphard for normal retail sale, so any US example is an import transaction rather than a domestic new-car purchase.
Why Toyota does not sell the Alphard in America
The documented explanation is regulatory compliance combined with Toyota’s product-line decision; Toyota has not published one official statement assigning the decision to a single cause such as demand, dimensions or marketing.
Federal safety certification
Vehicles sold or permanently imported into the United States must comply with applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). A Japan-market Alphard was built and certified for its home market, not automatically for US standards.

“If the vehicle is less than 25 years old and was not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable FMVSS, and/or was not so certified by its original manufacturer, it cannot be lawfully imported into the U.S. on a permanent basis unless NHTSA determines it eligible for importation.”

HJ64 1/64 Toyota Alphard Custom Version/Sunroof Included, Black, Assembled
- From Hobby Japan 1/64 diecast series HJ64, comes the Toyota Alphard custom version with sunroof
- The product comes with a clear case and pedestal, making it perfect for collecting
- There is no gimmicks for opening and closing doors, hoods, etc. The photo is the prototype. The actual product is different from the product
For a nonconforming vehicle under 25 years old, the importer therefore needs the applicable NHTSA eligibility route and compliance work; simply paying a Japanese MSRP does not make the vehicle legal for permanent road use.
Federal emissions certification
Safety approval is only one part of the problem. The Environmental Protection Agency also requires emissions compliance. An Independent Commercial Importer (ICI) must hold a current EPA Certificate of Conformity when that route applies to the vehicle.
“Manufacturers are not permitted to sell vehicles in the United States that do not meet the standards.”

This is why importing a Japan-specification Alphard is not equivalent to asking a US Toyota dealer to sell the same model: the vehicle, documentation and certification pathway are different.

How the federal 25-year rule works
NHTSA provides a major safety-law exception for older vehicles:
“A motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old can be lawfully imported into the U.S. without regard to whether it complies with all applicable FMVSS.”
The clock is measured from the vehicle’s manufacture date, not its model name, model year or the date it was first registered in Japan. A vehicle manufactured in 2026 reaches that federal safety threshold in 2051; an earlier-built example reaches it on the 25th anniversary of its own manufacture date.

The exemption removes the federal FMVSS barrier, but it does not guarantee a drivable, registrable car. EPA requirements, customs paperwork, shipping, state emissions rules, title records and insurance can still determine whether the purchase works in a particular state.

What a US landed price would include
There is no defensible single US landed price for an Alphard because several costs are case-specific and exchange rates move. A realistic budget must account for all of the following:
- Japanese vehicle price: the grade-specific Toyota MSRP or the negotiated used-vehicle price.
- Options and domestic charges: factory options, dealer fees, Japanese registration-related charges and transport to the export port.
- Export and ocean logistics: exporter or broker fees, marine freight and insurance.
- Customs and taxes: duty, port fees and any other federal charges assessed on the shipment.
- Compliance work: engineering, parts, testing or certification through the required NHTSA and EPA pathway for a vehicle that is not already eligible.
- Delivery and ownership: inland transport, state sales or use tax, title and registration fees, inspection, insurance and any state-specific emissions work.
For a vehicle under 25 years old, the compliance line can be decisive and is not a predictable percentage of the Japanese sticker price. For a 25-year-eligible vehicle, the federal safety exception can simplify importation, but it does not erase the other costs.
Can you import a JDM Alphard?
Yes, but legality depends on the individual vehicle’s age, specification and import pathway.
Vehicle under 25 years old
- Confirm whether NHTSA has determined that the exact vehicle is eligible or whether an approved compliance route is available.
- Use the required registered-import process for safety work where applicable.
- Address EPA emissions certification through an ICI holding a current Certificate of Conformity when required.
- Obtain written confirmation that the destination state will title and register the completed vehicle.
Vehicle at least 25 years old
- Verify the manufacture date from reliable vehicle documentation; the 25-year calculation is not based only on a model-year label.
- Confirm customs, EPA, state title, inspection and insurance requirements before shipping.
- Budget for transport, duty, taxes and any repairs even though the federal FMVSS age barrier no longer applies.
Do not ship a vehicle on the assumption that the 25-year rule automatically guarantees registration. Federal import eligibility and state road-registration approval are separate decisions.
Bottom line for a US buyer
In Japan, an Alphard currently starts at ¥5,599,000 for the June 2026 gasoline Z with front-wheel drive and reaches ¥10,650,000 for the documented six-seat PHEV Executive Lounge. In the United States, there is no official Toyota MSRP because the model is not sold through Toyota’s US lineup. Importing one is possible only through the applicable safety, emissions, customs and state-registration rules, and the final landed cost must be calculated for the specific vehicle and destination.
