The roughly $6,000 loss highlighted in the headline is attributed to the gasoline Lexus RX 350, not the hybrid RX 350h. iSeeCars’ current estimate for the RX 350h is 17.5% depreciation, or $9,355, after three years; its five-year estimate is 40.2%, or $21,497. Those figures do not establish that German rivals uniformly lose $15,000 more.
Where the $6,000 figure comes from
An October 6, 2026 AOL article uses the headline “The Lexus RX Hybrid Only Loses $6,000 In Value, While Its German Rivals Shed $15,000.” But the approximately $6,027 three-year loss discussed in the article is attributed to the standard, gasoline-powered RX 350. It is not a verified estimate for the RX 350h hybrid. AOL’s article and the current iSeeCars model pages distinguish the two variants.
That difference matters: an RX 350 estimate should not be presented as an RX 350h estimate. The figures below keep the powertrains separate.
What iSeeCars estimates for the RX 350h
On its model page accessed October 7, 2026, iSeeCars estimates that the RX 350h loses 17.5% of its value—$9,355—after three years. At five years, the estimate is 40.2%, or $21,497. iSeeCars gives the five-year residual value as 59.8%, or $32,028. These are provider estimates, not guaranteed sale proceeds. iSeeCars says its calculations analyze more than 15 million vehicles and estimate depreciation by comparing new-car prices with used-car prices at selected vehicle ages. The provider lists vehicle maker and segment among its model inputs. The resulting estimates describe a broad market pattern; they do not price a particular used car.

The AOL article’s approximately $6,027 figure and iSeeCars’ current RX 350 page do not present the same figure in the same form: the current page reports a percentage rather than reproducing that rounded dollar amount. Treat the $6,027 as the figure reported in the AOL article, not as a current RX 350h estimate.
Does the RX 350h lose less than German rivals?
The claim that German rivals shed $15,000 is not established as a universal, like-for-like comparison for the RX 350h. The available figures do not align model year, powertrain, age, mileage, condition, geography, transaction type, and valuation method across the RX 350h and the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q5.

For example, iSeeCars reports 55.1% five-year depreciation for the standard Audi Q5, not the Q5 plug-in hybrid. It reports separate, steeper figures for the plug-in version. A percentage from one version cannot establish a fixed dollar gap against an RX 350h without matching starting prices and valuation assumptions. See the Audi Q5 estimates.
Other comparison pages do not resolve the mismatch: iSeeCars’ BMW X5-versus-Lexus comparison is for the RX 350, while Edmunds’ comparison selects particular 2026 trims and does not present an RX 350h comparison. iSeeCars BMW X5 and RX 350 comparison · Edmunds comparison.

What determines the value of an individual RX 350h?
A model-level depreciation estimate is a starting point, not a quote for your vehicle. A specific car’s value can vary with its model year, trim, mileage, condition, location, and whether you are looking at a trade-in, private-party sale, or dealer purchase price.
To make a useful comparison, line up the same model and powertrain, model year and ownership period, mileage and condition, geographic market, transaction type, and data provider. Compare trade-in estimates separately from private-party estimates rather than treating them as interchangeable.
