There is no single annual maintenance price that applies to every Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Model year, trim and powertrain, mileage, service history, location, vehicle condition, and whether you mean scheduled servicing or repairs all affect the bill. For a rough US planning reference, one undated third-party model estimates $3,275 for scheduled servicing over five years and 60,000 miles on a current-generation S-Class—about $55 a month averaged over that period. It is not a quote, does not cover unexpected repairs, and excludes insurance, fuel, and tires.
What does an S-Class maintenance estimate include?
Start by separating routine scheduled service from the other costs of owning and keeping a car on the road. A scheduled-service estimate concerns work due under the vehicle’s maintenance schedule. It is not a complete ownership-cost estimate and does not necessarily include items that wear out according to condition or repairs needed after a fault or breakdown.

- Scheduled service: the recurring inspections and replacements prescribed by the vehicle’s maintenance schedule, such as oil and filter service and, at specified intervals, cabin-filter or brake-fluid work.
- Wear items: components such as tires and brakes that need attention depending on use and condition. Ask for their inspection results and prices separately rather than assuming they are covered by a routine-service estimate.
- Repairs: work to diagnose or fix a fault, damage, or failure. The scheduled-service estimate discussed below is not a repair-cost forecast or a ceiling on future bills.
- Other ownership costs: fuel and insurance are not maintenance. Tires are also excluded from the cited estimate.
These categories matter because two owners can use the same model-year service schedule yet receive very different invoices. One may need only the prescribed visit; another may also need condition-based work or a repair. A useful budget therefore has a scheduled-service figure, separate estimates for identified wear items, and a separate contingency for repairs—not one unsupported “annual S-Class cost.”

How often does an S-Class need servicing?
Mercedes-Benz USA describes a general cadence: the first Service A is due at approximately 10,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first. Subsequent Service A visits are approximately every 20,000 miles or two years. Service B is due approximately 20,000 miles or one year after the previous service, then at roughly 20,000-mile or two-year intervals. These are general intervals, not a substitute for the maintenance schedule for a particular vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz directs owners to the car’s Maintenance Booklet for model-specific work and exceptions. Check that booklet and the vehicle’s service reminder before estimating the next visit; do not infer a complete schedule from a generic interval alone. A car’s model year, powertrain, mileage, service history, and market can affect what is due.
What Service A includes
MBUSA’s general Service A description lists Mercedes-Benz motor oil and filter replacement, fluid-level checks and corrections, tire inflation check and correction, brake-component inspection, and resetting the maintenance counter. The manufacturer gives the first visit as approximately 10,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, and later A visits at approximately 20,000 miles or two years.
What Service B adds
Service B includes the same listed core items as Service A, plus replacement of the cabin dust or combination filter and a brake-fluid exchange. Exact work can vary with the vehicle schedule, so confirm which items apply to the specific car and visit rather than assuming every S-Class receives identical work.

The manufacturer’s routine-service descriptions help define what to ask a shop to price. They do not publish a nationwide S-Class service price on the reviewed public pages. The required work can be identified from the vehicle’s schedule, but the dollar amount needs a local estimate.
How to get a realistic price for your car
- Identify the vehicle. Gather the model year, exact trim and powertrain, VIN, current mileage, market, and available service records. “S-Class” alone is not enough detail for a reliable quote.
- Confirm the next scheduled visit. Check the Maintenance Booklet and maintenance reminder for what is due now, including model-specific work. Use the general Service A and B cadence as context, not as a replacement for the car’s own schedule.
- Request comparable written estimates. Ask an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer and a qualified independent Mercedes specialist to price the same required work. Give each the same vehicle and service information so you can compare like with like.
- Ask for itemization. Have the estimate distinguish parts, labor, fluids, filters, brake-fluid service if due, taxes, and diagnostic charges. Ask which listed operations are required by the schedule and which are recommendations based on an inspection.
- Get wear-item findings separately. Ask what the inspection found for tires and brakes, what work is needed now, and what it would cost. Price these according to the actual condition of the vehicle rather than adding a made-up fixed annual allowance.
- Compare the same scope. Check that each estimate includes the same scheduled operations and clarify any difference in specified parts or procedures, documentation, convenience, and additional charges. A lower headline total is not a fair comparison if it omits required work.
- Keep repairs separate. Set aside a separate contingency for unscheduled repairs. Neither a routine-service quote nor a prepaid maintenance plan is a cap on repair spending.
Dealer, independent specialist, or prepaid maintenance?
There is no evidence here to support a blanket claim that a dealer, an independent Mercedes specialist, or prepaid maintenance will always be cheapest. The sensible comparison is between written prices for the same required work, not shop labels or a general estimate that may assume different services.

Mercedes-Benz USA says prepaid maintenance can “lock in” required service costs and describes its plan as offering savings compared with buying maintenance as you go. Treat that as the manufacturer’s description of its plan, not independent proof that any particular plan is less expensive. Compare the actual offer for the matching vehicle against local itemized pay-as-you-go estimates.

What does Mercedes-Benz prepaid maintenance cover?
MBUSA’s general prepaid-maintenance information describes service once per year or every 10,000 miles unless the Maintenance Booklet specifies otherwise. Its Premier plan page lists options from two years or 20,000 miles to four years or 40,000 miles. Coverage tables include oil and filter changes at listed service intervals, fluid checks, a multipoint inspection, wiper-blade sets, and, at some intervals, cabin filters and brake-fluid service.
Those general descriptions do not tell you the price or exact coverage for an individual S-Class offer. Read the written plan terms for the vehicle in question and verify which services, visits, and mileage limits apply. The Premier plan page lists breakdown repairs and work outside required routine maintenance among its exclusions; it also excludes charges unrelated to required service. Do not assume that a plan pays for every item a shop recommends during an inspection.

Does the warranty pay for maintenance?
Kelley Blue Book’s 2025 S-Class page reports a new-car limited warranty of 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. That is a secondary-source summary, not a substitute for the warranty booklet that applies to a particular vehicle. Confirm the in-force terms for the model year and country.
A warranty should not be treated as a promise that scheduled maintenance or wear items are free. For a specific service or repair question, check the vehicle’s applicable warranty terms rather than assuming that a general warranty duration covers the cost.
What should you budget?
If you need a rough US starting point for a current-generation example, the undated Carlyle model’s $3,275 scheduled-servicing total over five years and 60,000 miles works out to about $55 a month averaged over that period. Use it only as a planning reference. It does not answer what your specific car’s next visit will cost, what condition-based work is needed, or how much repairs will add.

For a useful personal budget, first establish the car’s actual upcoming scheduled work, then get comparable local itemized estimates. Add separately priced wear items only when an inspection supports them, and keep a distinct repair contingency. This avoids treating a scheduled-service model—or a warranty or maintenance plan—as though it covered costs it does not establish.
