The India-market Honda Elevate has a 40-litre fuel tank. Honda and Autocar list claimed mileage of 15.31 km/l for the 6-speed manual and 16.92 km/l for the CVT, although Honda’s current FAQ gives a different CVT figure: 16.61 km/l. Autocar’s own tests returned 11.0 km/l for the manual and 10.85 km/l for the CVT. Using the 15.31 and 16.92 km/l figures, the calculated nominal full-tank ranges are about 612 km and 677 km respectively—not guaranteed distances between refills.

Honda Elevate mileage, tank capacity and range at a glance

The figures below apply to the India-market petrol Elevate. “Claimed” mileage and Autocar’s road-test results describe different kinds of measurement, so they should not be treated as interchangeable forecasts.

Transmission Claimed mileage Autocar tested mileage Calculated nominal range
6-speed manual (MT) 15.31 km/l, as stated by Honda in its 4 September 2023 launch release and listed by Autocar as ARAI-certified 11.0 km/l in Autocar’s test About 612 km, calculated as 40 litres × 15.31 km/l
CVT 16.92 km/l in Honda’s 4 September 2023 launch release and Autocar’s ARAI listing; Honda’s current FAQ instead says 16.61 km/l 10.85 km/l in Autocar’s test About 677 km using 16.92 km/l; about 664 km using the FAQ’s 16.61 km/l

Honda Cars India’s FAQ specifies a 40-litre fuel capacity. The range figures are arithmetic using that nominal capacity and a stated mileage number; they do not establish how far a particular Elevate will travel before its driver decides to refuel.

What is the Honda Elevate’s fuel tank capacity?

Honda Cars India lists the Elevate’s fuel capacity as 40 litres. That is the published tank capacity for the India-market model. It is not a recommendation to run the tank empty or a claim that every driver will be able to use all 40 litres before refuelling.

In ordinary use, the distance displayed or achieved between stops depends on the vehicle’s consumption and the driver’s refuelling decisions. A full-tank range calculation is therefore useful for comparing figures on a consistent basis, but it should not be used as a precise arrival estimate or a safe refuelling threshold.

What mileage does Honda quote for the Elevate?

There is a source discrepancy for the CVT figure. Honda’s launch release, dated 4 September 2023, gives 15.31 km/l for the 6-speed manual and 16.92 km/l for the CVT. Autocar India’s mileage page, last updated 5 October 2026, also lists 15.31 km/l and 16.92 km/l as the ARAI-certified figures. Honda’s live FAQ, accessed on 10 October 2026, lists the manual at 15.31 km/l but the CVT at 16.61 km/l.

The sources do not explain why Honda’s FAQ differs from the launch release and Autocar’s ARAI listing. The figures should be attributed rather than averaged or presented as if they agree. If you are comparing cars or calculating an estimate, use one stated CVT figure consistently and note which source it comes from.

For the manual, the listed figure is consistent across these sources: 15.31 km/l. For the CVT, it is important to say whether the figure is Honda’s FAQ value of 16.61 km/l or the 16.92 km/l value given in the launch release and Autocar’s ARAI listing.

How far can the Elevate travel on a full tank?

Multiplying the 40-litre tank capacity by the claimed mileage gives a simple nominal range estimate:

  • Manual: 40 × 15.31 = 612.4 km, or approximately 612 km.
  • CVT at 16.92 km/l: 40 × 16.92 = 676.8 km, or approximately 677 km.
  • CVT at Honda FAQ’s 16.61 km/l: 40 × 16.61 = 664.4 km, or approximately 664 km.

Autocar reports the rounded 612 km manual and 677 km CVT calculations, using the 15.31 and 16.92 km/l figures. The alternate CVT result above follows the same arithmetic but uses Honda FAQ’s different mileage figure. None of these calculations is a road test or a promise that the car will cover that distance on a tank.

Actual distance between refills depends on the mileage achieved in the conditions in which the vehicle is driven, and on when the driver chooses to stop for fuel. A calculated range is most useful as a comparison of published figures—not as a plan to use every litre or drive until empty.

What does Autocar’s real-world mileage test show?

Autocar India reports 11.0 km/l for the manual Elevate and 10.85 km/l for the CVT in its own tests. These are editorial test results, not guaranteed owner figures. They are lower than the certified numbers listed on Autocar’s page, and the ordering is slightly different: the manual returned a marginally higher result than the CVT in Autocar’s test, while the listed certified figure is higher for the CVT.

Autocar describes a fixed-route method for its mileage testing. Its testers use city and highway routes, one occupant, the air conditioning on and manufacturer-recommended tyre pressures. They fill the tank to the brim before and after each run. This provides a defined basis for Autocar’s results, but it cannot reproduce every owner’s route, traffic, climate or maintenance conditions.

Autocar attributes the gap between tested and certified figures partly to the Elevate’s sharp throttle response and short gearing. That is the publication’s interpretation of its results, not a proven explanation for every driver’s fuel consumption. Autocar also notes that road conditions, climate and maintenance affect mileage.

How to check your own Elevate’s fuel economy

A repeatable tank-to-tank calculation gives a more useful picture of your own driving than comparing a single trip with a published figure. Keep the units consistent: distance in kilometres and fuel in litres.

  1. At a refuelling stop, record the odometer reading. If you prefer, reset the trip meter after filling; use the same method throughout the comparison.
  2. Keep a record of the next fill. Note the litres shown on the fuel receipt or pump and the odometer or trip-meter distance since the previous fill.
  3. Calculate distance per litre. Divide the kilometres travelled since the previous fill by the litres added at the next fill. The result is your tank-to-tank km/l for that interval.
  4. Repeat across several intervals. One interval describes only that stretch of driving. A log over multiple fills helps show whether the result changes with your routes and use.

For the calculation to be meaningful, compare like with like: use the same distance-reading approach and record each fuel purchase accurately. If a fill is incomplete or you cannot confidently match the fuel added to the distance driven, mark that interval as less comparable rather than treating it as a definitive result. A log can tell you what your car achieved over recorded intervals; it cannot by itself identify the cause of a change.

What the mileage numbers can—and cannot—tell you

Claimed figures are for comparison

The 15.31 km/l manual and 16.92 km/l CVT figures appear in Honda’s launch release and Autocar’s ARAI listing. They provide a common reference for comparing the two transmissions, but they do not predict the result of every owner’s commute or journey. Honda’s current FAQ’s 16.61 km/l CVT figure adds a source-level discrepancy that should remain visible when quoting the CVT claim.

A road test is one test, not an owner guarantee

Autocar’s 11.0 km/l manual and 10.85 km/l CVT figures are the outcomes of its stated test method. They offer a separate, editorially measured reference, but they should not be substituted for a personal forecast. Your usage may differ from the test routes and conditions.

Range is calculated, not independently measured

The 612 km and 677 km figures follow from multiplying tank capacity by claimed mileage. They do not mean Autocar measured those distances on a single tank, nor do they establish a practical refill point. The alternative 664 km CVT estimate simply uses Honda FAQ’s 16.61 km/l figure instead of 16.92 km/l.

Which Honda Elevate powertrains are covered by these figures?

Honda’s India-market FAQ lists a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC engine with VTC in 6-speed manual and CVT forms, and says the Elevate is not available with a diesel engine. Autocar describes the range as petrol-only and does not list a hybrid or CNG option. The mileage figures discussed here therefore refer to the petrol manual and petrol CVT versions, not to a diesel, hybrid or CNG Elevate.

When comparing a specific vehicle, confirm its transmission and market specification. The figures in this article are for the India-market Elevate; they should not be applied automatically to vehicles sold in another market or to a different powertrain.
