In an independent trail test, the front showed reasonable articulation, but the dual rear axles moved less than a conventional single rear axle—and the truck eventually reached suspension and traction limits on harder terrain.
What “full articulation” means on the Bedrock XT2
Articulation is the suspension’s ability to let wheels move up and down independently as they follow uneven ground, helping keep tires in contact with the surface. It is not a single performance score: suspension layout, axle arrangement, tire pressure, load, traction, and the obstacle itself all affect what a vehicle can cross.
Arctic Trucks describes its multi-link systems as designed for greater suspension travel and articulation, with controlled on-road behavior. That is a general description of the company’s suspension approach, not a measured travel specification for this particular camper. Arctic Trucks’ technology description does not give the XT2 a wheel-travel figure or articulation angle.
What suspension does the XT2 use?

These are the components and features listed for the Arctic Trucks AT44 XT2 Bedrock and in Krug Expedition’s XT2 specification sheet. The sheet also lists front and rear air chucks. Those chucks and the adjustable rear suspension are not the same as a central tire inflation system (CTIS): CTIS is listed as an option for changing tire pressure.

Is the Bedrock XT2 a 6×6?
No: the specified XT2 is a 6×4. It has six wheels across three axles, with four driven wheels. The extra rear tag axle carries load but is not driven in this configuration. A 6×6 would have six driven wheels; the independent test said that version was expected as a future option at the time, but its current availability is not established here.
The XT2 specification sheet describes the tag axle as reducing ground pressure by “upwards of 25%.” That is a Krug/Arctic Trucks manufacturer claim, not an independently measured result. It should not be confused with a guarantee that the truck will float over every surface or overcome a difficult obstacle.

What did the trail test find?
Off-Road Xtreme’s trail test offered a qualitative comparison rather than measured suspension data. The report said: “It has reasonable articulation up front, but the dual rear axles don’t seem to have as much movement as a single rear axle in a conventional Super Duty.” The publication also described the truck reaching suspension and traction limits on more serious off-road terrain. These are observations from that test, not instrumented travel measurements or a universal result for every trail and load.
The same test reported 42.8-inch tires and around 15 inches of clearance under the differentials. Those figures are the publication’s test observations, not manufacturer specifications. The test praised the truck’s stability, braking, and flotation, while making clear that its additional axle does not remove the rear-articulation tradeoff. What the three-axle layout changes off road
A tag axle distributes load across another axle, but it also makes the truck a long, heavy, specialized platform. Its strengths and compromises depend on the route, not just on the number of wheels or the advertised articulation goal.
- Load distribution: The additional axle spreads the load; Krug/Arctic Trucks claims a ground-pressure reduction of upwards of 25%.
- Rear wheel movement: The independent test observed less movement from the dual rear axles than from a conventional single rear axle.
- Traction: Four wheels are driven in the specified 6×4 configuration. The test reported traction limits on harder obstacles.
- Size and route fit: The specification sheet lists a 176-inch wheelbase. Length and axle arrangement matter when choosing tight or uneven trails, and the cited test does not establish that the XT2 is an automatic improvement over a conventional four-wheel-drive expedition truck.
The manufacturer sheet lists a 6.7L Powerstroke V-8 diesel rated at 330 hp, a 10-speed automatic, 85-gallon combined fuel capacity, a 4.88 differential ratio, limited-slip differentials on the front and center axles, and a 12,500-pound Comeup winch. It also specifies 365/80R20 Continental MPT tires and an extended, fully boxed frame. These are manufacturer-sheet specifications, not independent verification. They help describe the build, but do not supply a suspension-travel number.

What is—and is not—known about articulation
The available evidence establishes the suspension layout and includes a tester’s qualitative impression. It does not establish a model-specific suspension travel distance, wheel-travel measurement, or articulation angle for the Bedrock XT2. Anyone comparing it with another truck should therefore look at the axle configuration, load, tire setup, traction aids, dimensions, and the trails they intend to drive—not treat “full articulation” as a quantified XT2 capability.
