Its 5.5-liter twin-turbo LT7 V8 is rated by the automaker at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque. The speed is a manufacturer-reported test result, not a public-road claim or a guarantee that every ZR1 configuration will match it.
How fast is the 2025 Corvette ZR1?
Chevrolet reported that the ZR1 achieved a 233-mph two-way average on the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany. General Motors President Mark Reuss drove the car. The figure averages northbound and southbound runs, rather than recording a single peak-speed pass. Chevrolet said five engineers and both development cars exceeded 230 mph across multiple runs during the test program. Chevrolet’s October 15, 2024 record report describes the run and its conditions.
The record car had a standard chassis and aero package, a standard spoiler with a short wicker, carbon-fiber ground effects, aluminum wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Chevrolet’s separate ZTK-package acceleration results do not establish that the 233-mph car used the same setup. The record was achieved at a purpose-built test facility; Chevrolet also says its Top Speed Mode, which adjusts chassis control systems for maximum speed, is exclusively for closed-course use.
How much horsepower does the ZR1 have?
The 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged LT7 V8 is rated at 1,064 hp at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm. Those are Chevrolet specifications stated in accordance with SAE guidelines, not independent test measurements. The company announced the engine and initially estimated the car would exceed 215 mph on track at the ZR1’s July 2024 reveal; the later 233-mph figure was a reported two-way average from Papenburg, not the earlier estimate. Chevrolet’s July 2024 announcement gives the engine rating and original speed estimate.

Standard ZR1 versus ZTK acceleration
Chevrolet publishes slightly different acceleration figures for the standard car and the available ZTK package. The automaker says the tests used 93-octane pump fuel on a non-prepped drag strip; these are closed-course manufacturer results.
| Configuration | 0–60 mph | Quarter-mile | Relevant setup detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard ZR1 | 2.5 seconds | 9.7 seconds | Chevrolet’s standard-car figures; the record car’s named tire was Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. |
| ZR1 with available ZTK package | 2.3 seconds | 9.6 seconds | Chevrolet’s ZTK acceleration figures; the package uses Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires and high-downforce aero. |
Chevrolet’s January 2025 performance and pricing release reports the ZTK figures and test conditions. The standard-car acceleration figures appeared in Chevrolet’s July 2024 announcement. Tire names alone are not enough to select replacements: confirm the precise size, wheel, speed and load ratings, model year, and package fitment before buying.

What the 233-mph figure does—and does not—mean
- It is Chevrolet’s reported two-way average from a closed-course oval, not a speed measured on public roads.
- Chevrolet says the result was repeatable within this development test program, with multiple runs over 230 mph by the two development cars and five engineers.
- The result applies to the reported test car and conditions. It should not be assumed for every ZR1, particularly a car with a different aero or tire configuration.
- The cited performance figures are manufacturer claims; the cited materials do not provide independent third-party verification.
Reuss called setting the record “a true triumph for Corvette and for Chevrolet, and also an exhilarating, surreal experience for me personally,” in Chevrolet’s October 15, 2024 report.
