But the resemblance is about styling: the published specifications describe a much smaller, less powerful motorcycle, not a mechanical match. “Clone” is a description of the look, not a legal finding or evidence of a shared platform, and there is no indication that Harley-Davidson licensed or endorsed the MotoFino.
What looks familiar on the V-Maxter 300?
Motorcycle coverage published in December 2022 called the Sportster S inspiration immediately visible in the V-Maxter’s tank graphics and headlamp. MotoFino also gives the model a low cruiser stance, but the available descriptions do not establish that every body panel or design detail copies the Harley. The comparison is best understood as a visual impression, rather than proof of identical design or engineering.
The V-Maxter 300 is also listed in China as 小马300 (Xiao Ma 300). Autohome’s 2022 model listing identifies Henan Wangye New Energy Technology as its manufacturer. A secondary brand directory describes MotoFino as a Wangye sub-brand and the V-Maxter 300 as its first model.
Published specifications show two very different motorcycles
The V-Maxter’s reported figures put it in a different performance class from the current US-market Sportster S. The numbers below come from catalog listings and published model coverage, not a head-to-head test.

The two V-Maxter power figures are consistent when expressed in different units: 22.6 kW is approximately 30.7 metric horsepower. That does not make the source records a performance test. The Sportster S’s official 121 hp rating is nearly four times the V-Maxter’s reported metric-horsepower figure, while its engine displacement is more than four times as large.
Engine, drive and equipment: what the sources establish
V-Maxter 300
Motovoyager describes a liquid-cooled, two-cylinder, four-valve V-twin producing its reported peak power at 9,000 rpm. Autohome lists a six-speed gearbox, belt final drive, and front and rear ABS. The coverage also reports a steel tubular cradle frame, inverted front fork and twin rear shocks.

Moto.it reported in December 2022 that the 296 cc QJ300-12 engine used in QJ Motor’s Flash 300 is also installed in the V-Maxter. Motovoyager likewise identifies QJ Motor as the V-Maxter engine producer. This supports describing QJ Motor as the reported engine supplier; it does not identify QJ Motor as the manufacturer of the complete motorcycle.
Sportster S
Harley-Davidson’s 2026 US model page lists ABS, traction control and other rider-safety features alongside the Revolution Max 1250T engine. The published V-Maxter listing confirms front and rear ABS, but the cited sources do not establish a directly comparable full equipment list for both motorcycles. Similarity in one listed feature does not make their equipment packages equivalent.

Price and availability depend on market and date
The V-Maxter’s ¥23,980 listing and the €3,250-equivalent figure reported in December 2022 refer to the China market at that time. The euro amount was a reported equivalent, not a current European retail price. By contrast, the $15,999+ figure is Harley-Davidson’s starting US MSRP for the 2026 Sportster S. These figures come from different markets and years, so they are not a like-for-like current price comparison.
Motovoyager reported that the V-Maxter had no European distributor when its article was published on December 21, 2022. That dated report does not establish today’s distribution. Current availability, local road approval, dealer stock, parts supply and service coverage have not been established here for Europe, the United States or other markets. Anyone considering one should verify each of those points with a local seller or relevant authority before treating it as a purchasable alternative.

Is the “clone” label fair?
It is understandable as shorthand for a motorcycle whose styling has been reported to evoke the Sportster S. It is not a precise technical or legal conclusion. The available specifications show a 296 cc cruiser versus a 1,252 cc Sportster S, with very different published power figures; they do not demonstrate a shared platform, matching performance, or a legal finding of infringement.
Without a hands-on comparison, the evidence supports a narrower conclusion: the V-Maxter borrows a visual direction that has drawn comparisons with the Harley, while its listed engine, output, weight and equipment describe a distinct motorcycle. Whether that resemblance is appealing or unsettling is a matter of taste; the specifications do not support treating the two bikes as equivalents.
