The 2026 Velar S starts at $61,600 before destination and other charges: that is close to the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350, below the BMW X5, and above the base Genesis GV80. Whether it is worth the price depends on the equipment and powertrain you want, the actual quotes you receive, and how much you value the Velar’s design and cabin.
How the Velar’s starting price compares with rivals
These are manufacturer-listed U.S. starting prices surfaced on October 8, 2026. They are not out-the-door prices or matched-equipment comparisons; destination treatment and included equipment may differ.

On those listed base figures alone, the GLE 350 is $650 above the Velar S, the GV80 2.5T RWD is $3,900 below it, and the X5 is $6,700 above it. Those differences are arithmetic, not proof of a dealer-level premium or saving: the trims, engines, drivetrains, equipment, destination treatment, incentives, and final transaction prices are not matched.
What the Velar price includes—and what it does not
Range Rover USA lists the Velar S at $61,600 and also lists Belgravia Edition, Autobiography, and Belgravia Edition Satin in the U.S. range. The model page presents features including an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and trim-dependent comfort and audio equipment. Check the selected engine and build to confirm which features are standard or optional. Range Rover USA’s Velar page says the base MSRP excludes $1,575 destination and handling, tax, title, license, retailer fees, and optional equipment; retailer price, terms, and availability may vary.

Range Rover’s overview advertises up to 395 horsepower and 0–60 mph in 5.2 seconds, but identifies the pictured vehicle as European and cautions that specifications can vary by market. Do not assume those figures apply to every U.S. Velar; check the specific U.S. configuration. Range Rover overview
How to make a fair value comparison
- Build comparable vehicles. Select the Velar and each alternative with the same must-have equipment, such as audio, seating, driver assistance, roof, and displays. Confirm which items are standard and which require a package or higher trim.
- Match the powertrain and drivetrain. Entry trims do not necessarily have equivalent output, performance, or standard drivetrain. Compare the configurations you would actually buy, rather than treating base MSRP as a like-for-like value measure.
- Get written, same-day quotes. Ask dealers to itemize destination or freight, options, incentives, fees, and transaction price. Manufacturer list prices can change, and the Velar’s displayed MSRP is not a final quote.
- Compare warranty coverage with your ownership plan. Land Rover USA says, “Every new Land Rover vehicle is covered by a New Vehicle Limited Warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.” Land Rover USA warranty coverage. Warranty duration alone does not establish repair frequency or future expense.
- Factor in your use and preferences. Consider seating and cargo needs, local service access, and fuel or powertrain requirements. Then decide whether the Velar’s styling and cabin presentation are worth any verified price difference to you.
Is the Range Rover Velar worth it?
It may be worth its price for a buyer who prefers its design, cabin presentation, and the equipment available on the chosen build. The starting-price evidence does not establish that it is a better or worse value than a comparably equipped rival; the most useful test is whether a written Velar quote makes sense beside quotes for the exact alternatives and features you want.
