It is a single Sonderwunsch 911 Turbo S commission created to mark Porsche’s 75 years in Australia, with an Outback-inspired finish, local materials, Southern Hemisphere references and a hidden farewell message. Autoblog’s 2026 report says the car combines a reported 711-horsepower T-Hybrid drivetrain with more than 300 hours of custom paintwork. The car is reportedly not for sale, and it has no published official price.
What this Australian Porsche 911 actually is
The “could only come from Australia” description is best understood as design language, not a claim that Porsche built a regular Australia-only production edition. The car is a one-off 911 Turbo S commissioned through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program. Sonderwunsch is the part of Porsche’s bespoke operation used for highly individualized projects rather than a catalog option package.

According to Autoblog’s 2026 account, the project brought together Porsche’s Sonderwunsch team, the Style Porsche design group and Sydney artist Werner Bronkhorst. Its purpose was commemorative: the car marks Porsche’s 75-year presence in Australia. That status matters because it explains why the design uses references that are specific to the country and its landscape instead of simply applying an Australian flag or a dealer decal to a standard car.
Only one such commission is described in the report. There is no evidence of a series, allocation list or generally available “Land Down Under” edition. Buyers looking at a 911 configurator should therefore not expect to find these colors, the Uluru sky headliner or the concealed spoiler message as a normal trim level.

How the exterior turns an Australian sunset into paint
Two custom Chromaflair colors
The exterior is built around two custom Chromaflair colors: Terra Australis Red and Southern Cross Blue. Autoblog describes the combination as an evocation of an Outback sunset. Chromaflair paint is designed to shift visually as the viewing angle and light change, so the car does not present one fixed shade in every photograph or setting.
The report says the finish contains seven hand-applied layers. Paint alone reportedly required “over 300 hours,” a qualification that means the documented figure is a minimum-style description rather than an exact 300-hour stopwatch total. That labor also helps explain why this is a commissioning exercise rather than a normal factory color: the process is unusually time-intensive and tied to this particular design.
Small exterior details with a specific purpose
A ghosted “75” is integrated into the roof. It is deliberately subtle, allowing the anniversary reference to appear as part of the surface rather than as a large graphic. When the active rear spoiler is raised, another detail becomes visible underneath it: the words “See ya later mate.” This is lettering applied to the car, not a quotation from a named speaker.
Those details give the exterior two different levels of reading. The changing red-and-blue surface supplies the broad visual impression, while the roof mark and spoiler message reward someone who walks around the car and watches the bodywork move. Neither feature turns the commission into a new mechanical model; both reinforce its commemorative, highly personal character.
The cabin uses Australian materials and geography
Leather, wood and color choices
Inside, the report lists Dark Night Blue leather, Coolibah Brown trim and Australian Silky Oak. These are not generic “luxury” descriptors; they are the elements that give the cabin a direct regional identity. The dark blue leather echoes the cooler half of the exterior palette, while the brown trim and wood introduce the warmer, earth-toned side associated with the sunset concept.
Because the materials are named specifically, they also distinguish this project from a conventional 911 Turbo S with an ordinary leather or carbon-fiber interior. The point is not simply that the cabin is expensive. It was selected to make the car feel tied to Australia when the doors are closed and the exterior references are no longer visible.

Blue Mountains and Uluru references
Blue Mountains topographic graphics appear on the dashboard. A topographic treatment maps a landscape rather than illustrating it as a simple picture, so the reference can function as a design texture while still identifying a real Australian place.

The headliner depicts the Southern Hemisphere sky above Uluru in 1951. Autoblog connects that year with Porsche’s arrival in Australia. This is the most explicit historical element in the interior: it combines a recognizable Australian landmark, the sky visible from that hemisphere and the date used for the anniversary story. The result is a ceiling that works as both a visual motif and a timeline marker.
Together, the dashboard and headliner prevent the Australian theme from becoming a single exterior paint trick. The geographic references continue through the cabin, where they are visible to the occupants rather than to spectators at a car show.
Reported mechanical specification: a Turbo S beneath the bespoke design
Autoblog attributes the following figures to the car. They should be read as secondary-source reporting, because the Porsche newsroom page for this specific commission was not available for independent confirmation in the material used here.
| Item | Reported specification |
|---|---|
| Engine | 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six |
| Hybrid system | Porsche T-Hybrid system |
| Power | 711 horsepower |
| Torque | 590 lb-ft |
| Transmission | Eight-speed PDK |
| 0–62 mph | 2.5 seconds |
| Top speed | 200 mph |
The figures describe a high-performance Turbo S specification rather than a show car with a purely cosmetic conversion. A 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-six is paired with Porsche’s named T-Hybrid system, and the report gives the combined output as 711 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. The eight-speed PDK is the stated transmission, while the quoted acceleration and top-speed numbers indicate the performance level associated with the underlying Turbo S.
There is an important distinction between the drivetrain and the commission’s visual work. The report presents the engine, hybrid system and performance figures as the car’s technical specification, but it does not say that the bespoke paint or interior materials add power. They are the personalization layer on top of a reported Turbo S mechanical package.

Likewise, the 2.5-second 0–62-mph time and 200-mph top speed are not independent test results in this account. They are reported specifications. Conditions such as tire choice, surface, temperature and measurement method are not supplied, so they should not be treated as a promise that every driver will reproduce those numbers on a public road.
Availability and the price figure that is easy to misread
The one-off is reportedly not for sale
Autoblog says the commission is not for sale and has no official price. That means there is no published asking price against which to value the paint, the interior materials or the reported performance specification. It should not be described as a car that customers can order simply by paying a premium over a normal 911.
What AU$577,300 does—and does not—mean
The same report gives AU$577,300 as the starting price of a production 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe in Australia, before on-road costs and options. That is useful context for the model on which the project is based, but it is not the value, retail price or asking price of the one-off commission.
Options, registration-related charges and other on-road costs are excluded from that production-model starting figure. More importantly, the commission’s hand-finished paint and unique cabin are not being assigned a separate official surcharge in the available report. Any claim that the bespoke car is worth a particular multiple of AU$577,300 would therefore be speculation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the project reads as Australian rather than merely exotic
Many custom cars use rare paint or expensive materials. This one’s identity comes from how the references connect. Terra Australis Red and Southern Cross Blue establish the sunset palette; the “75” ties the surface to Porsche’s Australian anniversary; the spoiler message supplies an unmistakably local conversational phrase; and Coolibah Brown, Australian Silky Oak, Blue Mountains graphics and the Uluru night sky continue the theme inside.
The anniversary date in the headliner also gives the design a historical anchor. Without that date, the sky scene could be read as a generic celestial pattern. With it, the headliner links the car’s place, the Southern Hemisphere setting and the story of Porsche’s arrival in Australia as reported by Autoblog.

- Collectable Scale Diecast Model
Calling the car “Australian” does not mean every component was manufactured there or that Australia has its own mechanical 911 variant. The available account identifies the project’s Australian character through its commission context, artist involvement, imagery and materials. That is why the headline works as editorial framing while remaining inaccurate if read as a literal production claim.

The project is attributed to three creative forces. Porsche’s Sonderwunsch team handled the bespoke commission framework, Style Porsche supplied the manufacturer’s design direction, and Sydney artist Werner Bronkhorst was involved in the project. The report does not provide an attributed interview statement from any of them, so there is no verified quotation to attach to the design choices.
This division of roles helps explain the balance between factory precision and artwork. The car retains the reported Turbo S drivetrain and transmission, while the finish, graphics, wood, leather and hidden text are treated as a unified design brief. It is neither a standard showroom configuration nor an unrelated aftermarket restyle.
What enthusiasts should take away
- It is singular: the reported project is one commemorative 911 Turbo S, not a production Australia edition.
- The theme is layered: the Australian references appear in the paint, roof, spoiler, leather, wood, dashboard and headliner.
- The performance is reported, not independently tested here: the 711-hp, 590-lb-ft, 2.5-second and 200-mph figures come from Autoblog’s account.
- The price is unresolved: the car reportedly is not for sale, while AU$577,300 refers only to the starting price of a production 2026 Turbo S Coupe before on-road costs and options.
- The paint is a major part of the story: seven hand-applied layers reportedly took over 300 hours for the paintwork alone.
Could you buy a replica?
No verified Land Down Under replica, scale model, die-cast listing or matching retail product is identified in the available material. A general Porsche 911 model car is a collectible category a reader might search for, but that is not evidence that this exact one-off has been reproduced or that stock exists.
That distinction matters for collectors. A model wearing ordinary 911 Turbo S colors should not be presented as a miniature of the Australian commission unless its seller specifically documents the Terra Australis Red and Southern Cross Blue treatment, the anniversary graphics and the interior references. The one-off’s reported status means authenticity claims require evidence rather than assumptions based on a similar body shape.

This Porsche is compelling because the Australian idea is carried through nearly every surface: a light-shifting seven-layer sunset finish, a ghosted anniversary roof mark, a hidden “See ya later mate” under the spoiler, local wood and leather, Blue Mountains topography and a Southern Hemisphere sky over Uluru. Underneath, Autoblog reports a 3.6-liter twin-turbo T-Hybrid Turbo S with 711 horsepower and a 200-mph top speed. It is best understood as a single commemorative artwork built around a high-performance 911, not as a new production trim or a car with a published market price.
