A hand-built 1/150-scale Nissan Micra drives by following a wire embedded beneath its miniature road. The wire guides the car’s steering along a fixed route, while onboard electronics power the motor and lights. It is an engineering project, not a commercially available toy or a conventional free-roaming RC car.
How the under-road wire guides the Micra
In Hackster.io’s report by Gareth Halfacree, the car follows a wire set beneath the road surface. That wire constrains its steering, keeping the Micra on a predetermined route rather than letting it turn freely across the scene. The maker, identified by the pseudonym “diorama111,” described the setup this way: “The steering moves along embedded wires,” so the car “can only run on a set route.” (Hackster.io’s project report.)
This is a useful distinction: the wire is not simply power fed to the car from the road. As described in the report, it serves as route guidance. The car’s motion is controlled on that route, rather than steered freely like a typical RC vehicle.
What fits inside the 1/150-scale car
The reported Micra has a 16.5 mm wheelbase and 4 mm tires. Hackster says it is small enough to balance on a fingertip, but does not give a more exact overall length or width. The report identifies a Microchip ATtiny1616 microcontroller and a 30mAh, 3.7V lithium-polymer battery among the onboard components; these are reported build details, not an independently verified parts list.

Despite its scale, the model is described as having a working motor and steering as well as headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and independently controlled left and right indicators. Remote control handles start and stop and the lighting functions. In the miniature scene, the car can stop at traffic signals.
Charging and hand-building the model
The report says the maker charges the battery with a small, self-made pin inserted into a hole underneath the car. It also describes the assembly as a careful hand-build using tweezers and a tiny drill. Those details give a sense of the project’s constraints: even charging access has to be designed around a vehicle only millimeters across.

What the project does—and does not—show
The Micra combines a fixed, wire-guided route with onboard movement and working lights. That makes it well suited to a detailed miniature road scene where a vehicle follows a planned path; it is not a demonstration of unrestricted steering or an off-the-shelf car available to buy.
Hackster reports that the maker published a schematic and microcontroller firmware, but the report is not itself the primary technical documentation, and those materials’ contents have not been independently verified here. The published account also does not establish a retail version, price, or complete parts list, so the named microcontroller and battery should be understood as details of this build—not a ready-made recipe or a complete car kit.
