The U.S.-market 2025 Toyota Camry is hybrid-only, with four grades and a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Toyota’s launch figures point to a practical split: the LE with front-wheel drive is the version Toyota estimated at 51 mpg combined, while AWD adds a small amount of quoted horsepower and a rear electric motor intended to provide traction when needed. The best fit depends on the grade, drivetrain and equipment on the specific car—not on treating one fuel-economy figure as universal.
Is the 2025 Toyota Camry hybrid-only?
Yes. Toyota’s U.S. 2025 Camry lineup moved to an exclusively hybrid powertrain: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system. There is no conventional, non-hybrid Camry listed in Toyota’s U.S. launch lineup. Toyota described the system and lineup in its April 18, 2024 launch announcement.
“Quietly confident” is a useful framing for the car’s understated, efficiency-minded proposition, not a measured conclusion about its cabin or road manners. No independent cabin-noise measurement or firsthand road test is cited here.
What are the Camry’s horsepower and fuel-economy figures?
Toyota quoted 225 net combined horsepower for front-wheel-drive models and 232 net combined horsepower for models with electronic on-demand AWD. Toyota says AWD adds a dedicated rear electric motor that provides traction when needed.

The often-quoted 51 mpg combined figure is Toyota’s manufacturer estimate for the 2025 Camry LE with front-wheel drive—not a figure that applies to every grade or drivetrain. For an efficiency comparison, use the exact grade and drivetrain shown on the vehicle’s label or listing; the Toyota launch announcement identifies the 51 mpg estimate specifically with the LE FWD.
Should you choose front-wheel drive or AWD?
Both drivetrains are available across the LE, SE, XLE and XSE lineup, according to Toyota’s launch materials. FWD is the base configuration. AWD’s stated advantage is additional traction through the rear electric motor; Toyota’s quoted output is also 7 hp higher with AWD. Those specifications alone do not establish how either version will perform in a particular driver’s conditions.

- Choose FWD if it suits your driving needs and you want the configuration Toyota associated with its 51 mpg combined estimate on the LE.
- Consider AWD if the added traction is useful for your regular routes or conditions. Check the exact vehicle’s equipment and fuel-economy rating rather than carrying the LE FWD figure over to an AWD model.
Availability and equipment can vary by configuration and region. Confirm the drivetrain and installed features on the specific car, using Toyota’s 2025 Camry eBrochure alongside the vehicle listing.
How do LE, SE, XLE and XSE differ?
Toyota offered four grades. The launch information distinguishes them most clearly by the digital gauge cluster and the availability of higher-end displays and driver-assistance packages. These are model-year launch details; verify the equipment of an individual car in the official 2025 Camry eBrochure and its listing.

Toyota said the Premium Plus Package for XLE and XSE could add Traffic Jam Assist, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Panoramic View Monitor and front/rear parking assist with automatic braking. Toyota states that Traffic Jam Assist requires an active Drive Connect trial or subscription and depends on a 4G network. Package contents and availability should be checked against the actual car and the official brochure.
What safety features are standard?
Toyota said Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Alert are standard. These are driver-assistance systems that can warn or assist under specified conditions; they do not guarantee collision avoidance or replace the driver’s attention. NHTSA selected the 2025 Camry Hybrid for its model-year 2025 5-Star Safety Ratings testing program. Selection for testing is not a crash-test rating, and the selection announcement does not provide results for the Camry.

Check recall status by VIN before buying a used 2025 Camry or relying on a vehicle’s recall repairs being complete. NHTSA records include two campaigns relevant to certain Camrys; neither campaign total means every 2025 Camry is affected.

- Instrument-panel recall 25V595: NHTSA’s report lists 13,811 potentially involved vehicles in the affected production population across its scope of vehicles. It includes the 2025 Camry, but the total is not a count of 2025 Camrys alone. See the NHTSA Part 573 report.
- Inverter recall 25V869: NHTSA’s notice covers certain 2025–2026 Camry Hybrids among other models. It describes an inverter terminal connection issue that can cause loss of motive power and may create an electrical-short or fire risk. The 55,405 potentially affected vehicles span the models listed in the campaign; it is not a Camry-only figure. See the NHTSA recall acknowledgment.
Use the NHTSA recall lookup to check a vehicle by VIN, then confirm remedy status with Toyota or the dealer. A campaign’s model-year scope does not establish whether an individual vehicle is included or whether its remedy has been completed.
What did the 2025 Camry cost?
Toyota announced a starting MSRP of $28,400 in April 2024, before a $1,095 dealer processing and handling fee. That is historical launch pricing, not a current transaction price; Toyota’s announcement said prices could change. Current prices and local inventory are not established here.
