A hotter Dodge Hornet successor may arrive for the 2028 model year, but Dodge has not confirmed a launch date, name, price, or powertrain. Car and Driver reports that Dodge showed a full-size “muscle hatch” in May 2026 and expects it to become the next-generation Hornet, possibly under the GLH name. Those details are projections, not an announcement from Dodge. Meanwhile, Dodge says production of the current Hornet is paused indefinitely.
What is actually confirmed about the hotter Hornet?
The key distinction is between Dodge’s current production status and reporting about a future vehicle. Dodge’s Hornet FAQ says production has been “paused indefinitely” and notes that some new vehicles may remain at select dealers. It does not announce a hotter Hornet or give a restart date. Car and Driver reports that Dodge displayed a full-scale “muscle hatch” at Stellantis Investor Day in May 2026, and says Tim Kuniskis described the GLH as essentially a next-generation Hornet. What Car and Driver expects—and what remains unknown
Car and Driver’s August 26, 2026 report forecasts a 2028 model year, with sales possibly beginning in late 2027. It anticipates a turbocharged four-cylinder making roughly 300-plus horsepower. The publication also estimates a base price below $39,000, potentially around $32,000, and an SRT trim near $40,000. None of those figures is confirmed by Dodge; they should be treated as forecasts, not specifications or a buying guide.

Dodge’s current page lists standard all-wheel drive for both the 2025 GT and R/T, a 140-mph top speed for the 2025 GT, and a maximum 288 horsepower for the 2025 R/T. These are Dodge’s stated 2025 model-year figures, not a promise about any successor. Dodge Hornet specifications and FAQ
The original launch announcement provides useful historical context, but its numbers are launch-era claims. Stellantis described the R/T as a plug-in hybrid with more than 30 miles of electric range and the GT as a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four expected to deliver over 265 horsepower. Don’t confuse the GT GLH concept with the future GLH
Dodge’s GT GLH concept and the reported future GLH are separate stories. The 2025 fact sheet describes concept content including a stage kit, lowering kit, exhaust, wheels, and graphics. It says horsepower, pricing, and availability details would be announced later. What Hornet buyers and owners can do now
Shopping for a new or used Hornet
Dodge says some new Hornets may remain at select dealers and directs shoppers to local dealers for availability. It also points used-car shoppers to dealers. Considering performance upgrades
The GT GLH concept shows Dodge’s performance-accessory direction, but a concept display is not proof that each part is currently available for purchase. Check current product availability and fitment before treating a concept component as an upgrade option.

How to assess the GLH when Dodge releases details
When official specifications appear, compare the new car with a Hornet by model year and availability first, then look at confirmed price, powertrain, performance, utility, and warranty. Until Dodge publishes the successor’s details, there is no confirmed GLH specification sheet or price against which to make a direct comparison.
