Are Honda’s 400-mile and 470-hp figures confirmed?
No model-specific primary source reviewed identifies a Honda production EV with both figures. Without a named model and a stated range test cycle, the 400-mile claim cannot be treated as a confirmed rating. The same applies to 470 horsepower: it is not a confirmed production specification for the unnamed vehicle.
That distinction matters because a range figure is meaningful only alongside its measurement standard, and a power claim needs to be tied to a specific vehicle and version. Honda’s published 0 Series figure was a development target measured under EPA standards; it was not a certified rating for a vehicle on sale.
What Honda actually said about 0 Series range
In its May 2024 investor briefing, Honda said it was targeting more than 300 miles (480 km) of range for each planned Honda 0 Series model, measured under EPA standards. Honda’s October 2024 technology presentation described a dedicated EV platform, compact e-Axle, thin battery pack and active aerodynamic system under its “Thin, Light, and Wise” development approach. The presentation cited an inverter downsizing of approximately 40% and a battery case approximately 6% thinner as development figures. Those descriptions do not establish that a production vehicle achieved them. Which Honda EV plans were canceled?
On March 12, 2026, Honda announced that it had canceled development and planned U.S. market launches for three EVs intended for production in the United States: the Honda 0 SUV, Honda 0 Saloon and Acura RSX. Honda said it judged that starting production and sales in the prevailing business environment would likely lead to further long-term losses. Honda attributed the decision to several business conditions. The company cited changes in U.S. policy and incentives, slower expansion of the U.S. EV market, and stronger competition in China from newer manufacturers with software-defined vehicle and advanced driver-assistance capabilities. In the same March 2026 release, Honda gave preliminary estimates for the fiscal year ending March 2026: operating expenses of 820 billion to 1.12 trillion yen, and a share of losses from equity-method investments of 110 billion to 150 billion yen. Honda said these were company-level preliminary figures as of March 12, to be finalized in its financial results. They are not costs attributed solely to the Honda 0 SUV or Saloon.

What a buyer can conclude
- Do not treat the headline figures as confirmed specifications. The available official material does not tie 400 miles and 470 horsepower to a named Honda production EV.
- The 0 Series range figure was a target. Honda’s 2024 plan called for more than 300 miles of EPA-measured range per model, not a 400-mile certified rating.
