Honda announced plans to begin Japanese sales in the second half of 2026 for two U.S.-built vehicles: the Acura Integra Type S and the Honda Passport TrailSport Elite. The announcement sets a target, not confirmation that sales have begun; it also does not provide Japan-market prices or final local specifications.
Which U.S.-built Honda models are planned for Japan?
The March 5, 2026 announcement names the Acura Integra Type S and Honda Passport TrailSport Elite. Honda described the move as a reverse import and said it would use Japan’s simplified certification system for U.S.-made passenger vehicles. The announcement does not identify a broader group of models.
Honda had displayed both U.S.-version vehicles at Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2026 and Osaka Auto Messe in February. The company said visitors showed strong interest and expected a Japanese launch, but it did not publish attendance figures or another measure of that interest.
When are sales expected to start?
Honda’s stated target was the second half of 2026. Its March announcement does not name a specific launch day or confirm that sales have started. As of October 8, 2026, that announcement alone is not evidence of current availability.

Honda’s release establishes the two model names, their U.S. production plants, the planned timing, and the U.S.-version reference specifications. It does not state Japanese prices, final Japan-market equipment or powertrain specifications, or an ordering route. The announcement refers to the Integra Type S as a model; it does not classify it as a sedan.
