Ask the dealer to put every item in writing: vehicle price, VAT if separately shown, registration-related charges, compulsory and optional insurance, accessories, finance fees, delivery charges, discounts, gifts and the date through which the offer is valid. Compare G and L quotations prepared on the same day and on the same assumptions.

The L is listed 30 kg heavier at the curb and 20 kg higher in gross vehicle weight. Honda Vietnam’s comparison table shows steering-wheel paddle shifters absent on G and present on L. With a CVT, paddles are a control feature rather than evidence of a different gearbox. They can let a driver select simulated ratios or engine-braking steps without reaching for the console, which is useful on descents, in rolling terrain or when you want more immediate control in traffic. They do not change the listed 119 HP, 145 Nm or seven-seat layout.

Six airbags on L
Honda Vietnam’s official product information describes six airbags for the L. The captured material does not establish an equivalent six-airbag statement for G, so do not assume the two trims have identical airbag coverage. Confirm the current safety specification by trim and ask the dealer to identify the airbag locations on the vehicle you will receive.
Do not infer unverified equipment

These are official test-cycle results, not a promise of what every driver will see. Traffic density, air-conditioning use, payload, tyre pressure, road grade, speed, weather and driving style can move real consumption above or below a laboratory-style cycle result. The published figures do not establish a fuel-economy advantage for G or L, so fuel savings should not be used to justify the price gap.
The L’s listed 30 kg extra curb weight is real, but there is no supplied trim-level test showing that it produces a measurable difference in everyday consumption. Compare both trims using the same route and conditions if fuel cost is central to your decision, while recognising that a short drive is not a controlled efficiency test.
What the extra money buys in everyday driving
Choose G when the shared vehicle matters more than controls
G gives you the same listed powertrain, body dimensions, seven-seat capacity, 17-inch alloy wheels and official cycle figures as L. It is the rational starting point when your priorities are carrying a family, keeping the purchase price down, or directing VND 76 million toward registration, insurance, an emergency fund or other ownership costs. It also avoids paying for a feature you may never touch if you drive gently on flat urban routes.
Choose L when the verified safety and control additions fit your use

Do not pay the gap for an imagined performance upgrade
There is no listed horsepower, torque, displacement or transmission difference between these versions. If a dealer describes L as faster or more powerful, ask for the written specification supporting that claim. The official figures supplied for both are 119 HP at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm.
A practical way to decide whether L is worth VND 76 million
- Set the real price gap. Obtain same-day itemised quotes for G and L, including on-road charges, financing and any promotion. Replace the published VND 76,000,000 calculation with the actual difference you would pay.
- Mark the equipment you will use. Write down specific situations—mountain descents, heavy family use, night driving or frequent highway trips—then identify which confirmed L features address them. Count only equipment shown in the current Vietnam specification or in your written quotation.
- Value the safety equipment separately. Confirm whether the exact L vehicle has six airbags and what is fitted to G. Do not use a general model brochure or a Philippine trim description as proof for a Vietnam car.
- Test the controls. During a supervised drive, operate the L paddles and assess whether their position and response are useful to you. If you cannot imagine using them after the test, assign them little monetary value.
- Protect the budget. Calculate the monthly finance difference and the cash you would retain by choosing G. Include registration, insurance, scheduled maintenance and tyres rather than comparing only the advertised vehicle prices.
- Recheck the paperwork. Before payment, verify trim, model year, equipment, warranty terms, delivery date and the validity date of every discount. A promotion that expires or an unavailable colour can erase an apparent advantage.
Questions to ask a Vietnam Honda dealer
- Are VND 629,000,000 and VND 705,000,000 still the current reference prices on the quotation date?
- What is the exact cash and financed on-road total for each trim?
- Which discounts, accessories or gifts are conditional on financing or insurance?
- Does this VIN correspond to the current Vietnam-market G or L equipment table and model year?
- Does the L vehicle have six airbags, and what airbag specification applies to the G in this model year?
- Are steering-wheel paddle shifters fitted as standard on this L, and are they absent from this G?
- Which items are factory equipment and which are dealer-installed accessories?
- What is the vehicle’s production date, delivery date and warranty start date?
Request the answer in an itemised document. A verbal “full option” description is not a reliable substitute for a trim-specific specification sheet.
Common comparison mistakes
Mixing Vietnam and Philippine trims
S, V and VX are Philippine designations; they are not alternate names for Vietnam’s G and L. A Philippine review can be useful background about the model family but cannot establish Vietnam pricing or equipment.
Treating a reference price as the drive-away price
The published numbers are reference prices. They do not by themselves include every on-road cost, financing term or promotion. Use the dated dealer quote for the purchase decision.

6.4, 7.6 and 5.6 L/100 km are official cycle figures. They are not a promise that your commute, school run or highway trip will match those values.
Assuming every L feature is documented
Only the paddle-shifter difference and the L six-airbag description are established in the available material. Confirm all other rows in the live official table; do not fill gaps with equipment from another country, model year or review.
Expecting the L to transform performance
Both trims use the same listed engine output, torque, displacement and CVT. The premium is primarily an equipment and specification choice, not a power upgrade.
