For a mostly paved city commute, the 2026 Honda PCX is the simpler value choice: it has a $150 lower base MSRP, a 0.6-inch lower seat, and a 3-pound lower published curb weight. Choose the 2026 Honda ADV160 instead if your route and priorities justify its 5.1-inch front suspension travel, two-position adjustable windscreen, and Honda-listed 27-liter weatherproof under-seat compartment.
Both use a 157cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine, automatic V-Matic belt drive, ABS, and a 2.1-gallon tank. The comparison below uses Honda’s US 2026 model pages reviewed October 13, 2026—not a comparative ride test—so it separates published equipment from questions such as real-world comfort, fuel economy, insurance, and dealer pricing.

What both scooters have in common
Same engine size and automatic drive
Each scooter uses a 157cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine and an automatic V-Matic belt drive. That gives the comparison a common powertrain baseline: neither model wins on engine displacement or transmission type in Honda’s published specifications. The automatic layout is relevant to stop-and-go commuting because there is no manual clutch or gear-selection routine for the rider, but the supplied specifications do not establish acceleration, top speed, hill performance, or passing ability.
ABS is listed on both front brakes
Honda lists ABS with the front disc brake on both models. The ADV160 has a 240mm front disc; the PCX has a 220mm disc. Rotor diameter alone does not predict stopping distance for every rider or surface, and Honda’s pages do not provide an independent braking test. Treat ABS as shared equipment, then compare fit, tire condition, road surface, and your own braking practice.
Equal fuel-tank capacity is not equal range
Both tanks hold 2.1 gallons. Honda’s reviewed US pages do not publish model-specific miles-per-gallon figures, test-cycle results, or an official range claim for this comparison. A tank-size tie therefore cannot identify a fuel-economy winner. If your commute includes long gaps between fuel stations, ask a dealer for the current owner’s manual information and use conservative planning until you have your own consumption data.
Where the ADV160 earns its $150 premium
More suspension travel for imperfect pavement
The ADV160’s 31mm Showa fork has 5.1 inches of travel, compared with 3.9 inches for the PCX’s 31mm fork. At the rear, the ADV160 lists Showa dual shocks with 4.0 inches of travel, while the PCX lists twin hydraulic shocks with 3.7 inches. The ADV therefore has 1.2 inches more listed front travel and 0.3 inch more rear travel.

Those numbers make the ADV160 the more compelling specification match for a commute that regularly includes broken pavement, patched asphalt, speed humps, or similarly disruptive surfaces. They do not prove that every rider will experience a more comfortable ride: spring rates, damping, tire pressures, rider weight, passenger or cargo load, and the exact road all matter, and no comparative ride assessment is established here.
Adjustable windscreen
Honda says the ADV160 windscreen can be adjusted to two positions without tools. That gives a rider a way to change the screen position for weather, airflow, or helmet noise without carrying tools. The PCX page in the reviewed material does not provide an equivalent two-position adjustment specification. Wind protection remains rider- and helmet-dependent, so use a representative route and your normal riding gear when evaluating it.
More explicitly specified weatherproof storage
The ADV160 page identifies a 27-liter weatherproof main under-seat compartment and a separate 2-liter front compartment. Honda’s PCX page describes large under-seat storage but does not state a volume in the reviewed specification. If you routinely carry a rain layer, lock, lunch, or work equipment, the ADV’s published capacity and weatherproof description are easier to plan around. You still need to check the actual shape of the compartment against your helmet and bag; liters do not guarantee that a particular object will fit.
Larger front disc, but only a small weight difference
The ADV160’s listed front disc is 240mm versus 220mm on the PCX. Its published curb weight is 294 pounds, only 3 pounds more than the PCX’s 291 pounds. That small difference should not be treated as a decisive maneuverability verdict. At parking-lot speeds, seat height, handlebar reach, balance, and your confidence moving a scooter with the engine off can matter more than three pounds.

Where the PCX makes the stronger commuting case
Lower listed purchase price
Honda lists a 2026 US base MSRP of $4,349 for the PCX and $4,499 for the ADV160, a $150 difference before other charges. Both pages show a $600 destination charge, producing listed totals of $4,949 and $5,099 respectively. These are manufacturer-listed amounts, not dealer out-the-door quotes; sales tax, title, registration, documentation fees, setup charges, accessories, financing costs, and inventory-related pricing can change the amount you actually pay.
Lower seat for easier stops
The PCX seat is listed at 30.1 inches, versus 30.7 inches for the ADV160. A 0.6-inch difference can affect how securely a shorter rider can place a foot at a stop, but inseam length, seat width, footwear, suspension sag, and riding posture also change the practical reach. Sit on both scooters with the shoes and clothing you normally commute in; do not choose from the specification sheet alone.
Slightly lower published curb weight
At 291 pounds, the PCX is listed 3 pounds lighter than the ADV160. That can be useful when pushing the scooter into a garage or maneuvering it without the engine running, but it is not enough evidence to predict which model will feel more agile on your route. A supervised test ride or at least a stationary fit check is more informative than the number by itself.

Mostly smooth city streets
For a commute dominated by maintained urban pavement, the PCX’s lower seat and lower price address two needs many riders encounter every day: easy footing and reduced purchase cost. Its shared 157cc engine, automatic belt drive, ABS, and 2.1-gallon tank mean you are not giving up those listed fundamentals. The ADV160 remains reasonable if the windscreen adjustment, storage layout, or extra suspension travel solves a specific problem rather than serving as a general upgrade you may not use.

- Buyer's Guide: The seat guard for car seat between seat & console measures 15.75*2.7*1.53", suitable for gaps of 1.43-1.53" in width, please double-check carefully the distance between your seat and the center console before placing an order
- Storage and Filling in One: Differ from traditional single-function gap fillers, gap filler for car incorporates storage function, offers you the convenience of storing phones and various other items, so that you can access them at any time while driving

- Easy to Install: Car side seat gap filler is easy to install, simply insert it into the gap between the seat and the center console, gap seat filler for car can fit tightly without affecting the normal adjustment of the seat and the use of the seat belt
- Premium Material: Crafted from premium EVA material, our car seat side gap filler boasts a combination of wear-resistant, softness&durability. Maintenance is effortless, simply rinse and wipe to quickly clean the dust and debris in corners and crevices
Patched roads, speed humps, and rough connectors
If rough sections are unavoidable rather than occasional, the ADV160’s longer published suspension travel is the clearest specification-based reason to select it. Treat that as a compatibility signal, not a promise of a superior ride. Ride the actual rough section at legal, safe speeds if a dealer allows it, and pay attention to whether the seat height and riding position still let you control the scooter comfortably.
Frequent rain or changing wind
The ADV160 combines a two-position windscreen with Honda’s description of a weatherproof 27-liter under-seat compartment. That equipment can simplify wet-weather commuting, especially when you carry clothing or electronics that need shelter. Neither page establishes complete weather protection for the rider, and neither model’s page supplies a rain-performance test. You will still need appropriate riding gear and a secure way to protect items that do not fit under the seat.
Low-speed maneuvering and short riders
Start with the PCX if your priority is the lower seat and slightly lower mass. Check whether you can reach the ground comfortably on both sides, turn the bars without your knees contacting bodywork, and hold the scooter upright while stopped. If the ADV160’s extra 0.6 inch makes you uncertain at every intersection, its additional equipment may not compensate for reduced confidence.
Work gear and daily cargo
The ADV160 is the only model in this comparison with a Honda-stated storage volume and weatherproof designation. Measure your helmet, laptop case, lock, and rain gear, then open each scooter’s compartment at a dealership. The PCX may still accommodate your load, but the reviewed page does not provide a liter figure, so do not assume the two storage areas are equivalent or that the ADV’s 27 liters will accept every full-face helmet.

Ride-quality questions the specifications cannot answer
A published comparison can identify equipment and dimensions, but it cannot establish which scooter feels better for your body. No sourced test here measures vibration, seat firmness, wind noise, throttle response, suspension compliance over a particular pothole, or passenger comfort. Those characteristics can vary with rider size, tire pressure, load, temperature, and road surface.
Use the specification differences to create a test plan. On a safe route, include a stop-sign sequence, a tight turn, a rough patch, a faster arterial section, and a parking maneuver. Check whether you can operate the controls in gloves, see the instruments in your normal light conditions, place both feet or one stable foot at stops, and lift the scooter off its stand without strain. Keep the route and conditions similar if you ride both models; otherwise your impressions will be difficult to compare.
A practical decision process before you purchase
- Map the commute. Mark smooth streets, rough pavement, steep sections, traffic speeds, exposed windy areas, and places where you must park or push the scooter. Give each section a frequency rating instead of choosing based on a single memorable pothole.
- Set a delivered-price ceiling. Begin with Honda’s listed base MSRP and $600 destination charge, then request a written quote showing taxes, title, registration, documentation, setup, accessories, and financing charges separately. The published $4,949 PCX and $5,099 ADV160 totals are not out-the-door prices.
- Measure rider fit. Sit on both scooters in your normal footwear. Check seat reach, knee position, handlebar reach, mirror visibility, and whether you can move the scooter backward safely. The 30.1-inch PCX seat and 30.7-inch ADV160 seat are useful starting points, not a substitute for fit.
- Inventory your cargo. Bring the helmet, bag, lock, and rain gear you actually use. Confirm the ADV160’s 27-liter compartment and 2-liter front compartment work for those objects, and inspect the PCX compartment directly because Honda’s reviewed page gives no volume.
- Test the equipment that motivated your choice. On the ADV160, operate the windscreen in both positions without tools and decide whether either setting helps your normal route. On both models, practice braking smoothly and check that ABS-equipped front-brake controls feel natural to you.
- Ride a representative loop. Include your real road surfaces and typical traffic where permitted. Do not infer a comfort or performance winner from suspension-travel numbers alone.
- Verify current availability and terms. Honda provides inventory search, dealer-locator, quote, and financing actions through its US site. Confirm the model year, color, fees, warranty terms, and delivery timing with the dealer; these details can vary by location.
Cost, range, and ownership questions to verify locally
Do not treat MSRP as the final price
Honda’s 2026 US pages show the same $600 destination charge for both scooters. They do not establish your state or local taxes, registration, title fees, dealer documentation, assembly or setup charges, accessories, or financing rate. Ask for an itemized buyer’s order so the $150 MSRP gap is not obscured by unrelated fees.
Fuel planning needs your own data
Because both tanks are 2.1 gallons and no model-specific MPG figure is supplied on the reviewed pages, range remains unresolved by this comparison. After purchase, record fuel used over several complete fill-up cycles under your normal commute, and keep a reserve rather than planning to the last published gallon. Weather, traffic, tire pressure, rider weight, and cargo can change consumption.
Maintenance and insurance are not comparison winners here
No sourced maintenance-cost schedule, labor estimate, insurance quote, reliability study, or long-term ownership test establishes that either scooter costs less to keep. Get maintenance intervals and parts pricing from the current owner’s materials or dealer, and request insurance quotes using the exact model and your location before making a budget decision.
Decision matrix: which one fits your priority?
| Your priority | Specification-based lean | Why | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lowest listed purchase price | PCX | $4,349 base MSRP versus $4,499 for the ADV160 | Local taxes, dealer fees, and inventory pricing |
| Lower seat | PCX | 30.1 inches versus 30.7 inches | Actual reach with your inseam and footwear |
| Rougher daily pavement | ADV160 | 5.1-inch front and 4.0-inch rear travel | Ride comfort on your route; travel does not guarantee comfort |
| Adjustable airflow | ADV160 | Two-position windscreen adjustment without tools | Which position works with your helmet and weather |
| Planned under-seat capacity | ADV160 | Honda states a 27-liter weatherproof compartment and 2-liter front compartment | Whether your helmet and work bag physically fit |
