The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a sixth car, supported only by a Japan-market announcement. The Porsche 911 GT3 has the right engine profile, but its maker page now shows 2027 models, so it appears here as a reference rather than a 2025 pick.
That is fewer than the ten the original headline promises. We have not filled the gap with turbocharged cars or with models we could not document, and we have not verified dealer stock or prices. Treat the list as a verified shortlist, not a survey of the whole market.
What “still buy” means in late 2026
A naturally aspirated engine draws air at ambient pressure, with no turbocharger or supercharger, so its output depends on displacement and how fast it can turn. The figures below are manufacturer specifications for the 2025 model year. Because the 2025 designation is now a year old, buying one today usually means leftover new stock or a used car. This article does not verify local inventory, pricing, or dealer availability for any car on the list.
- Model year: 2025 unless a section says otherwise.
- Market: United States, except the Corvette Z06 entry, which rests on a Japan-market announcement.
- Engine type: Only naturally aspirated engines qualify. Turbocharged performance cars are covered separately below.

“Not stated” means the cited source does not give that figure. It does not mean the car lacks it.

How to read “high-revving” numbers
Manufacturers publish three different engine-speed measures, and they are not interchangeable.
- Rev limit: the ceiling the engine is allowed to reach. Mazda gives 7,500 rpm for the 2025 MX-5, and Porsche gives 9,000 rpm for the 911 GT3.
- Peak-power speed: the rpm where horsepower peaks. The GR86 and BRZ list 228 hp at 7,000 rpm. That is not a redline, and neither source gives a rev limit for those cars.
- Maximum engine speed: Chevrolet Japan’s phrasing for the Z06’s 8,550 rpm. Compare it with a rev limit only if the source defines the two the same way.
The cars
Mazda MX-5 Miata
Mazda’s 2025 MX-5 uses a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder in every trim, rated 181 hp at 7,000 rpm, with a 7,500 rpm rev limit. Sport and Club are manual-only, and Grand Touring offers a manual or automatic. Mazda also announced a 35th Anniversary edition. Mazda’s description calls the car “a pure expression of effortless, joyful driving,” which is promotional language rather than an independent assessment. Ford Mustang GT
Ford lists the 2025 Mustang GT with a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 rated at 480 hp, with a six-speed manual available. Source: Ford’s 2025 Mustang GT page.
Ford Mustang Dark Horse
Ford describes the Dark Horse as using a modified version of the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8, rated at 500 hp and 418 lb-ft. Those figures belong to the Dark Horse alone. Don’t attribute the 500 hp to the GT, which is rated at 480 hp.

Lexus LC 500
The 2025 LC 500 is a grand tourer with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 producing 471 hp and 398 lb-ft, paired with a 10-speed automatic. Lexus’s announcement said the 2025 model was expected to go on sale in fall 2024. The LC 500h is a hybrid and is not part of this list. Source: Lexus’s announcement for the 2025 LC 500 and LC 500h.
Toyota GR86
The GR86 uses a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer-four rated at 228 hp at 7,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft at 3,700 rpm. It comes with a six-speed manual. The 7,000 rpm figure is the peak-power speed, not a rev limit. Source: Toyota’s 2025 GR86 brochure.

Subaru BRZ
The BRZ shares the GR86’s naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer-four and its 228 hp at 7,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft at 3,700 rpm figures. Subaru’s specifications list a six-speed manual as standard and a six-speed automatic as optional, so the transmission you get depends on the specific car. Source: Subaru’s 2025 BRZ specifications.
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Chevrolet Japan’s June 2025 announcement describes the Z06’s 5.5-liter naturally aspirated LT6 V8 and a maximum engine speed of 8,550 rpm. That is the highest engine-speed figure tied to a 2025 announcement in this list. It is Japan-market evidence, and the source does not establish U.S. availability or trim. Confirm U.S. availability with a Chevrolet dealer before treating the Z06 as an option. Source: Chevrolet Japan’s Corvette Z06 announcement.

Porsche 911 GT3 (reference, not a 2025 pick)
Porsche’s current U.S. page describes the GT3’s 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, a 9,000 rpm limit, 502 hp, and manual or PDK transmissions. The page displayed 2027 models when accessed on October 8, 2026, so it supports the engine characteristics but not a 2025 sale claim. Two 2025 performance cars are often grouped with this list, but neither is naturally aspirated.
- Honda Civic Type R: a 1,996 cc turbocharged inline-four rated at 315 hp at 6,500 rpm, with a 7,000 rpm redline and a six-speed manual. Source: Honda’s 2025 Civic Type R specifications.
- Chevrolet Corvette ZR1: its LT7 V8 is twin-turbocharged. Do not confuse it with the Z06’s naturally aspirated LT6. Source: Chevrolet’s 2025 ZR1 announcement.
Verifying a 2025 car before you shop
- Check the window sticker or dealer listing for the exact trim, engine, and transmission. Manufacturer specs describe the lineup, not every car on a lot.
- Confirm the model year on the vehicle itself. A 2025 designation on a listing is a claim the seller should back up.
- Check current dealer stock or used listings in your area. Availability and pricing change, and nothing in this article establishes them.
The Bottom Line
If you want a 2025 U.S. car whose maker states a rev limit, the Mazda MX-5 Miata at 7,500 rpm is the only one of the five U.S. nameplates in this list with that figure documented. The Corvette Z06 and Porsche 911 GT3 post higher engine-speed figures, but their evidence is Japan-market or 2027-dated, so check the caveats above before shopping for either.
