Among the petrol and plug-in-hybrid cars covered here, the GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupé is listed at 2.8 seconds. For occasional track driving, the GT 63 PRO stands out for its track-oriented positioning, standard ceramic brakes and 317 km/h top speed. The right choice depends just as much on body style as on acceleration: the GT is a coupé, the SL is a convertible roadster, and the electric GT 4-Door is the four-door option.
Which Mercedes-AMG sports car is fastest?
On Mercedes-AMG’s published figures for the models compared here, the electric GT 63 4-Door Coupé has the shortest 0–100 km/h time: 2.1 seconds. Its listed 0–200 km/h time is 6.4 seconds. The optional Driver’s Package is required for its stated 300 km/h top speed.
The quickest listed combustion-powered comparison is the plug-in-hybrid GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupé, at 2.8 seconds from 0–100 km/h. The similarly specified SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE takes 2.9 seconds. These are manufacturer-published figures, not results from a directly comparable independent test; the electric model’s launch time does not by itself establish how it performs during repeated track sessions.
How the main AMG sports-car lines compare
Mercedes-AMG’s current pages, accessed in 2026, present three distinct formats: the two-seat-style GT Coupé line, the open-top SL Roadster line, and the all-electric GT 4-Door Coupé. The table compares the specific high-performance versions for which figures are provided; figures are manufacturer-published, and availability and specifications can vary by market.

Output and performance figures in this table are stated by Mercedes-AMG on its current GT Coupé, SL Roadster, GT 63 PRO and electric GT 4-Door model pages, accessed in 2026. WLTP is a standardized range cycle, not a promise of real-world distance; driving conditions and vehicle configuration affect what a driver can achieve.
Choose the GT Coupé for a high-performance two-door
The GT Coupé line spans the GT 43, GT 55, GT 63 4MATIC+ and GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE. The last is the line’s plug-in-hybrid flagship in the figures above: Mercedes-AMG pairs its V8 with a rear-axle electric motor and a 6.1 kWh liquid-cooled battery. That combination brings the highest listed torque in this comparison, 1,420 Nm, and a 2.8-second 0–100 km/h time.

The GT 63 PRO is a different proposition within the same coupé family. Mercedes-AMG positions it for exceptional driving dynamics and occasional track use, rather than presenting it simply as another straight-line acceleration record. Its 4.0-litre V8 produces 450 kW (612 hp) and 850 Nm. The standard 420 mm-front-disc ceramic composite brake system is a concrete distinction for drivers who value high-performance braking hardware; the published 317 km/h top speed is not a substitute for assessing suitability for a particular circuit or use.
Choose the SL if open-air driving matters
The SL Roadster is the open-top, comfort-oriented option in this group. Mercedes-AMG lists SL 43, SL 55, SL 63 and SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE variants. Its plug-in-hybrid flagship is specified at 600 kW, 1,420 Nm and 2.9 seconds from 0–100 km/h, just one tenth of a second slower than the comparable GT Coupé figure in the same manufacturer-published data.

Mercedes-AMG describes fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension on the V8 SL models. Those features make the SL’s appeal about more than an open roof, but the available figures do not establish a direct comfort, handling or lap-time advantage over the GT Coupé.
Choose the electric GT 4-Door for maximum listed acceleration and four-door use
The electric GT 4-Door Coupé is the clearest option here for buyers who want an all-electric, four-door performance car. Its GT 63 is listed at up to 860 kW (1,169 hp), with 0–100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 6.4 seconds and up to 696 km of combined WLTP range. The 300 km/h top speed depends on ordering the optional Driver’s Package.

The range also includes a GT 55 rated at 600 kW (816 hp) and a GT 53 rated at up to 400 kW (544 hp), with up to 809 km WLTP range for the latter. Mercedes-AMG’s stated figures therefore show that the highest-output version and the longest-range version are not the same model. The available specifications do not give seating capacity, luggage volume, charging time or real-world range, so those are points to confirm for the specific market and configuration before choosing.

Mercedes-AMG says its E PERFORMANCE development draws on the Mercedes-AMG ONE, Formula 1 and AMG High Performance Powertrains. Its technology material describes AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension with semi-active roll stabilisation. That is useful context for the engineering direction, but the technology page does not establish that every feature applies to every model in this comparison. It also cautions that no officially recognised testing values, EC type approval or certificate of conformity are confirmed for the referenced technology page; do not treat that page as vehicle-specific homologation data.

The GT 63 S 4MATIC+ has served as the FIA Formula 1 Medical Car since 2022. Mercedes-AMG gives the medical-car specification as a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo producing 470 kW (639 hp), with 0–100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a 315 km/h top speed. Those figures describe the medical car, not the GT 63 PRO or the GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE, and should not be substituted for their specifications.
Which one should you choose?
- For the quickest published 0–100 km/h time: electric GT 63 4-Door Coupé, at 2.1 seconds.
- For a plug-in-hybrid two-door: GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE Coupé, with a published 2.8-second 0–100 km/h time.
- For open-top motoring: SL Roadster; its SL 63 S E PERFORMANCE is listed at 2.9 seconds to 100 km/h.
- For occasional track use and standard ceramic brakes: GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+, the model Mercedes-AMG specifically positions for exceptional dynamics and occasional track driving.
- For a four-door electric option with a published WLTP range: compare the GT 63’s output and acceleration with the GT 53’s higher stated maximum range, then verify the local specification.
These are different ways to use a high-performance AMG, not interchangeable versions of one car. Body style, powertrain and intended driving should lead the decision; headline acceleration is only one part of it.
