Apple CarPlay Ultra is no longer just a promised dashboard redesign, but its rollout is much narrower than the original automaker list suggested. As of August 9, 2026, Aston Martin is the only brand with confirmed production availability. Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and Porsche have publicly committed to offering it, but none has a generally available CarPlay Ultra vehicle confirmed in the sources reviewed.
Several automakers that appeared on Apple’s older partner list have since backed away, while others have made no current commitment. That distinction matters: regular wireless CarPlay, an appearance on a 2022 Apple presentation, or a vague automaker statement does not mean a vehicle will support CarPlay Ultra.

Brands offering or committed to CarPlay Ultra
| Brand | Current status | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Aston Martin | Available | Available on new orders in the U.S. and Canada, with rollout across the new core-model lineup. |
| Hyundai | Committed | Apple named Hyundai as a future CarPlay Ultra partner. A launch vehicle and broad availability remain unconfirmed. |
| Kia | Committed | Apple named Kia as a future partner. Bloomberg reported that a major Hyundai or Kia model could receive Ultra in the second half of 2026. |
| Genesis | Committed | Apple named Genesis as a future partner, but no generally available Ultra-equipped model has been confirmed. |
| Porsche | Committed, not yet available | Porsche remains associated with Apple’s next-generation CarPlay plans, but current Porsche vehicles with regular CarPlay do not have CarPlay Ultra. |
Aston Martin: the only confirmed production rollout
Aston Martin is the clearest answer for buyers who want CarPlay Ultra today. The system is available on new Aston Martin orders in the United States and Canada and has expanded across the brand’s newer core models, including the DBX707.

It is considerably more integrated than the standard CarPlay interface. Aston Martin says CarPlay Ultra can span the central infotainment screen and the instrument cluster. Depending on the vehicle, it can also provide access to heating and ventilation, camera views, parking systems, audio settings, dynamic driving modes, and active-safety systems.

Existing Aston Martins are not automatically eligible. The vehicle must have Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system, and any qualifying update is carried out through an Aston Martin dealer. Plugging an iPhone into an older car cannot add the required vehicle integration.
Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis: promises without a confirmed showroom lineup
Apple identified Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis as newly committed brands in its May 2025 announcement. That makes them stronger candidates than brands merely listed in Apple’s original 2022 plans, but “committed” is not the same as “available.”
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that at least one major Hyundai or Kia model was expected to receive CarPlay Ultra in the second half of 2026. That report does not identify a fully confirmed production model or establish that every vehicle in either brand’s lineup will support the system.
The Hyundai IONIQ 3 should not be treated as confirmed CarPlay Ultra hardware. Hyundai’s April 2026 announcement of the model did not say that it would include Ultra. Similarly, a Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis vehicle advertised with wireless Apple CarPlay only has the standard system unless the manufacturer specifically lists CarPlay Ultra.
Porsche: planned, but not launched
Porsche was included in Apple’s earlier next-generation CarPlay plans and remains identified in current reporting as a future supporter. However, Porsche’s current Apple CarPlay information describes the regular version, not CarPlay Ultra.

That makes “Porsche already has CarPlay Ultra” an incorrect claim. A future Porsche model could support Ultra, but buyers should wait for Porsche to name the model, market, hardware package, and launch timing before treating the feature as available.
Brands that should not be counted as confirmed supporters
Ford and Lincoln: still uncertain
Ford has continued to be associated with Apple as a CarPlay partner, but Ford CEO Jim Farley said in 2026 that the company was still considering CarPlay Ultra and was unhappy with how the first version was executed. That is an open possibility, not a firm product commitment.

Lincoln is even less certain because it falls under Ford’s broader strategy. It should not be listed as a confirmed CarPlay Ultra brand unless Ford or Lincoln announces a specific vehicle and implementation.
Honda, Acura, Infiniti, Nissan, Jaguar, and Land Rover
These brands appeared on Apple’s original 2022 partner list or on later third-party lists of expected supporters. There is currently no publicly announced production vehicle, launch date, or current Apple commitment that establishes CarPlay Ultra availability for them.
They belong in the “unconfirmed” category, not in a list of brands that will definitely receive the system.

Brands that have declined, backed away, or effectively opted out
| Brand | Current position |
|---|---|
| Audi | Continues to offer traditional CarPlay but chose not to integrate CarPlay Ultra into its current vehicle portfolio. |
| Mercedes-Benz | Abandoned its earlier next-generation CarPlay plans and is emphasizing its own Mercedes-Benz Operating System while retaining regular CarPlay. |
| Polestar | Has provided no new CarPlay Ultra commitment and has been reported among brands that backed away from earlier plans. |
| Renault | Reportedly decided against CarPlay Ultra after previously appearing on Apple’s partner list. |
| Volvo | Not currently committed and effectively out unless it reverses course. Volvo has said no decision had been made, while Financial Times reporting grouped it with brands that decided against support. |
| BMW | Has said it currently has no plans to integrate CarPlay Ultra. Newer iDrive vehicles may continue to support regular CarPlay. |
| Rivian | Has publicly backed away from CarPlay Ultra plans. |
“Opted out” does not necessarily mean these companies will never change direction. It means there is no current basis for telling shoppers that CarPlay Ultra is coming to their vehicles.

Brands with no announced CarPlay Ultra plans
The following brands have no public CarPlay Ultra commitment as of the status date:
- Toyota and Lexus
- Mazda and Subaru
- Mitsubishi
- Volkswagen
- Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram
- Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC
- Fiat
- BYD and Suzuki
- Tesla
This is not the same as a confirmed permanent “no.” Some of these companies may announce support later, and some already offer standard CarPlay. For now, though, there is no announced CarPlay Ultra product to point buyers toward.
General Motors needs extra caution
GM has stopped including standard CarPlay and Android Auto in many newer electric vehicles, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Equinox EV. That strategy makes CarPlay Ultra an unlikely near-term prospect for Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC, since Ultra requires even deeper Apple integration than standard CarPlay.
GM has not issued a definitive statement saying that those brands can never adopt Ultra, so the accurate description is “no announced plans,” not “confirmed never.”

Why standard CarPlay does not guarantee CarPlay Ultra
Traditional CarPlay mainly presents iPhone apps and functions on the vehicle’s infotainment display. CarPlay Ultra is designed to extend into the instrument cluster and other screens while interacting with vehicle-specific controls and data.
Apple describes potential Ultra functions including:
- Instrument-cluster displays
- Climate controls
- Vehicle settings
- Camera and parking views
- Audio controls
- Driving modes
- Tire-pressure information
- Active-safety information and controls
That requires cooperation from the automaker and compatible infotainment architecture. It is not a universal iPhone feature that can be enabled by downloading an app or installing an ordinary iOS update. Aston Martin’s dealer-installed update, for example, is limited to vehicles with the company’s next-generation infotainment system.
The same warning applies to wireless CarPlay. A vehicle listing that says “wireless Apple CarPlay” is referring to the standard platform unless it specifically says CarPlay Ultra.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat an owner needs to use CarPlay Ultra
Apple says CarPlay Ultra requires an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or later. That is only the phone-side requirement. The vehicle must also be a confirmed compatible model with the necessary automaker hardware and software.

- Check the exact model year and trim, not just the vehicle brand.
- Look for CarPlay Ultra in the automaker’s official equipment list or order guide.
- Ask the dealer whether the vehicle supports Ultra or only standard wired or wireless CarPlay.
- For an existing vehicle, confirm whether it has the required infotainment system and whether the manufacturer offers an official update.
- Do not rely on an old Apple partner list, a dealer’s generic “CarPlay” description, or an online rumor.
The outdated Apple partner list
Many current CarPlay Ultra lists are based on Apple’s 2022 announcement. That list is no longer a reliable description of the market. Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, Renault, and Volvo were associated with the earlier plans, yet their current positions are withdrawn, negative, or unresolved.
The practical picture is therefore much smaller: Aston Martin has confirmed availability; Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and Porsche have commitments without broad confirmed availability; Ford and Lincoln remain uncertain; several former partners have backed away; and many major brands have not announced plans at all.
FAQ
Which car brand currently offers Apple CarPlay Ultra?
Aston Martin is the only brand with confirmed production availability in the reviewed sources. It is available on new Aston Martin orders in the U.S. and Canada and has expanded across newer core models, including the DBX707.
Will every Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis with wireless CarPlay get CarPlay Ultra?
No. Wireless CarPlay is the standard system unless the vehicle is specifically advertised as supporting CarPlay Ultra. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis have committed to offering Ultra, but model-by-model availability and launch timing still need to be confirmed.
Does Porsche already support CarPlay Ultra?
Not according to the current vehicle information reviewed. Porsche supports regular Apple CarPlay and remains a future CarPlay Ultra supporter, but no generally available Porsche with Ultra has been confirmed.
Can an iOS update add CarPlay Ultra to any CarPlay-equipped vehicle?
No. CarPlay Ultra requires compatible automaker hardware and deeper integration with the instrument cluster, vehicle controls, displays, and car-specific systems. Apple also requires an iPhone 12 or later running iOS 18.5 or later.
The Bottom Line
For buyers shopping now, Aston Martin is the only confirmed CarPlay Ultra choice. Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, and Porsche are the main brands with public commitments, but their compatible vehicles and launch dates remain limited or unconfirmed. Ford and Lincoln should be treated as uncertain, while Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Polestar, Renault, Volvo, and Rivian should not be presented as current supporters. Standard CarPlay—and even wireless CarPlay—is not a substitute for an automaker’s explicit CarPlay Ultra confirmation.
