The Hennessey Venom F5 pairs a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with a manufacturer-stated aim of exceeding 300 mph. Its standard Fury engine is rated at 1,817 hp, but Hennessey’s 300-mph figure is an engineering claim—not a documented, independently verified production-car run. The F5 is also a family of cars: the Coupe, Roadster and Revolution have different priorities, while the later Evolution update raises the stated output to 2,031 bhp.
What powers the Hennessey Venom F5?
The standard Venom F5 uses Hennessey’s longitudinally mounted, 6.6-liter Fury V8, with twin precision ball-bearing turbochargers. Hennessey lists 1,817 hp at 8,000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. Its live specification page also gives a maximum engine speed of 8,200 rpm, rising to 8,500 rpm in F5 mode. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independent dyno measurements. Hennessey Venom F5 specifications.

The engine has a 10:1 compression ratio, dry-sump lubrication, a cast-iron block, forged-steel connecting rods and aluminum cylinder heads. Power goes through a semi-automatic, paddle-shift transmission with a single clutch. That is the standard specification; a one-off manual commission is a separate exception, not the regular F5 gearbox.

Has the Venom F5 reached 300 mph?
Hennessey says the Venom F5 is engineered to exceed 300 mph. That describes the manufacturer’s target and claimed engineering capability; it is not evidence that a production F5 has completed a timed, independently verified run at that speed. The official material cited here does not document such a result. The precise answer is that the F5 is designed to exceed 300 mph, but a verified 300-plus-mph production-car run is not established by these sources. Hennessey’s Venom F5 Roadster page.
A top-speed target and a verified record are different claims. A record requires a measured run under stated conditions and a clear verification standard; a manufacturer’s engineering description alone does not establish one. Accordingly, the F5 should not be described as having officially achieved 300 mph on the basis of Hennessey’s target language.
How do the Coupe, Roadster, Revolution and Evolution differ?
The names describe different body styles or development emphases, not four versions with one identical setup. Hennessey positions the Coupe around top speed, the Roadster around open-air driving and the Revolution around circuit use. Evolution is a later update to the F5 package, with revised performance and comfort elements.
| Version | Primary emphasis | What Hennessey specifies or describes |
|---|---|---|
| Venom F5 Coupe | Closed body and top-speed focus | Standard F5 powertrain and specification; Hennessey says all 24 Coupe allocations have been spoken for. |
| Venom F5 Roadster | Open-air driving | Removable roof and the standard Fury powertrain; Hennessey describes it as engineered to exceed 300 mph. |
| Venom F5 Revolution | Track use | Revised aerodynamics, suspension and cooling, digital telemetry, and optional track equipment. Hennessey describes it as weighing less than 3,000 lb. |
| Venom F5 Evolution | Updated performance and comfort package | The 2025 announcement reports 2,031 bhp for the Revolution Evolution production car, with aerodynamic, suspension, interior and comfort updates. |
The Revolution’s changes suit repeated circuit use rather than making it simply a higher-output version of the standard top-speed-oriented Coupe. Hennessey’s live Revolution page reports a 2:10.90 lap at Circuit of the Americas, but the visible passage does not give the year. Treat that as a manufacturer-reported lap, not a dated independent benchmark. Hennessey Venom F5 Revolution.
In January 2023, Hennessey announced the Revolution as a 24-unit run at a launch price of $2.7 million. Those are launch-era details, not current prices or proof of remaining allocations. Hennessey’s 2023 Revolution announcement.

What changed with the Evolution?
In an August 2025 announcement, Hennessey said the Revolution Evolution production car would produce 2,031 bhp and receive aerodynamic revisions, mode-adaptive suspension and comfort-related interior changes. The company said future builds would receive Evolution enhancements and that previously delivered cars could be upgraded. Those updates should not be confused with the standard F5’s published 1,817 hp rating. The announcement also described a one-off Revolution LF customer commission with a gated six-speed manual; it does not change the standard semi-automatic specification.
