It is not arriving for customer delivery next month: Hennessey says customer production is targeted for 2029–2030. The company’s proposed 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 targets 800–850 hp, but that output and the car’s performance figures remain manufacturer targets, not independently tested results.
What the Hennessey Blackbird is
Hennessey describes Blackbird as its third hypercar, following the Venom GT and Venom F5. Rather than centering the concept on maximum outright speed, the company presents it as a touring-focused car built around driver involvement and long-distance use. Its headline combination is a naturally aspirated V8, rear-wheel drive and a six-speed gated manual.
The name, proportions and design language are said by Hennessey to draw inspiration from the SR-71 Blackbird. The company says the diamond-shaped quad exhaust takes inspiration from the Bell X-1 aircraft. These are the automaker’s accounts of its design influences.
Engine and performance: announced targets, not test results
Hennessey says the all-new 6.2-liter V8 is being developed with Ilmor Engineering. The announced target is 800–850 hp and more than 9,000 rpm. Hennessey expects the engine to be the “most powerful naturally aspirated road-car V8,” but that is the company’s anticipated claim, not an independently verified ranking. It is narrower than calling Blackbird the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated hypercar.

The meticulously rendered J58 hybrid turbo-ramjet engines and adjustable inlet cones authentically reflect its Mach 3+ propulsion engineering, while the operational black radar-absorbent coating and signature red warning stripes precisely capture its real-world strategic reconnaissance deployment as the world's fastest air-breathing aircraft
- Superior Detail & Craftsmanship – Main fuselage in die-cast alloy for solid heft, with precision plastic parts for sharp definition on chines, engine nacelles, and cockpit. The hybrid build accurately replicates the SR-71's delta wing and twin-tail layout, with fine engraving reproducing every panel seam. The flawless matte black finish, accented by U.S. markings and intake warnings, delivers museum-quality realism—capturing the Blackbird's Mach 3 reconnaissance legacy
- Ready for Immediate Display - Comes fully assembled with a included display stand. Simply unbox it to showcase this engineering marvel on your desk, shelf, or in a cabinet—no tools or glue required
- Collector-Quality Presentation - Features detailed landing gear, weapon bay outlines, and a presentation base. It’s the perfect gift for aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, or anyone who appreciates advanced military technology
- Thoughtful & Hassle-Free Presentation - The model is securely packaged in a protective box, ensuring it arrives in perfect condition. It’s the complete, thoughtful gift solution—no need for separate wrapping or last-minute shopping stress
The company’s stated targets are 0–60 mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 220 mph. No independent Blackbird test results are established in the available reporting, so these figures should be read as projections rather than demonstrated performance.
A touring brief with a manual, analog-first cabin
Hennessey says Blackbird will use a bespoke full-carbon tub and carbon-fiber bodywork, with a target weight below 3,000 lb. The proposed touring equipment includes adaptive suspension and storage intended to hold two full-size carry-on bags, alongside additional cabin and rear-quarter storage. Hennessey says the car is designed with the aim of covering more than 800 miles in a day; that is a design goal, not a verified range or touring test.

The announced cabin concept is screen-free and analog-first, with a large central tachometer and physical controls. Hennessey also lists four cup holders and gullwing doors. These details describe the company’s announced design intent, not a confirmed production specification.
Price, production limit and timing
Hennessey announced a global production limit of 71 cars and a starting price of $2.5 million before taxes. Its August 3, 2026 release targets customer production for 2029–2030. The same release said more than two-thirds of the planned production had already been allocated ahead of the car’s planned August 14 public debut at The Quail; that allocation figure is a statement from the announcement, not a current availability count.

How Blackbird differs from Hennessey’s Venom F5-M
The Venom F5-M is a useful point of contrast, but not a direct equivalent. Hennessey’s July 6, 2026 announcement describes it as a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 car with 2,031 bhp and a six-speed gated manual. The company said it would make 12 F5-M Roadsters and listed a starting price of $2.65 million before taxes. Blackbird, by contrast, is announced with a naturally aspirated engine and a touring-oriented brief.
| Model | Engine and output | Transmission and drive | Production and announced price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hennessey Blackbird | 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8; 800–850 hp target, according to Hennessey’s August 3, 2026 announcement | Six-speed gated manual; rear-wheel drive, according to Hennessey | 71 planned globally; starts at $2.5 million before taxes; customer production targeted for 2029–2030, according to Hennessey |
| Hennessey Venom F5-M Roadster | 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8; 2,031 bhp, according to Hennessey’s July 6, 2026 announcement | Six-speed gated manual; driven wheels not stated in the cited announcement | 12 planned; starts at $2.65 million before taxes, according to Hennessey |
Engine aspiration also needs careful wording when making comparisons beyond Hennessey. Cosworth’s account of the Bugatti Tourbillon describes a naturally aspirated 8.35-liter V16 capable of 9,000 rpm as part of a hybrid powertrain. Naturally aspirated describes how an engine draws in air; it does not, by itself, mean a car has no hybrid assistance.

What is confirmed—and what remains to be demonstrated
As of October 4, 2026, Blackbird is an announced project with a manufacturer-described design and projected specifications. The production schedule is targeted rather than a confirmed delivery date, and the output, acceleration, top speed, weight and touring aims have not been established by independent testing. The most defensible description is a planned, naturally aspirated manual hypercar whose defining figures are Hennessey targets.
