The color is pink—but the evidence supports a narrower claim than a current, worldwide ban. In a 2017 report, Ferrari Australasia CEO Herbert Appleroth called “No pink” a brand rule while discussing factory personalization. That report does not establish that Ferrari currently bars pink on every model or that owners cannot repaint or wrap their cars.
What Ferrari reportedly said about pink
A 2017 report about Ferrari’s factory personalization program quoted Herbert Appleroth, then identified as Ferrari Australasia CEO, saying: “It’s a brand rule. No pink. No Pokémon Ferraris!” The quote is evidence that pink was described as excluded from factory customization in that context. It is not, by itself, proof of a current global policy.
The report’s headline characterized the restriction as global, but its supporting quotation is attributed to a regional executive and dates to 2017. A current primary Ferrari policy establishing a worldwide prohibition is not documented in the sources available here. The careful conclusion is that Ferrari reportedly excluded pink from factory personalization choices at that time—not that every pink Ferrari is prohibited.
What “banned” does—and does not—mean
Factory paint and personalization
The reported rule concerns Ferrari’s factory personalization. Paint availability can depend on the model and configuration, and the current palette reporting does not say whether pink can be ordered on any particular car. Buyers interested in a specific model should confirm available colors with Ferrari’s official configurator or a dealer in their market.

Owner repainting or wrapping
The 2017 report does not establish a restriction on repainting or wrapping a Ferrari after delivery. A factory-order restriction and an owner’s later modification are separate questions; the reported quotation should not be used to claim that owners are barred from changing a car’s color.
Road cars and racing liveries
Factory road-car paint choices and racing liveries are also distinct. A Ferrari wearing a non-red competition livery does not prove that the same color is currently orderable on a road car, and a road-car personalization rule does not establish a rule for every racing entry.

Ferrari’s palette extends beyond red
Ferrari’s familiar red identity does not mean its paint palette is limited to red. In an April 9, 2026 article, Ferrari Magazine described the palette as extending to “thousands of choices.” It named recent examples including Rosso Tramonto, Rosso Corsa and Rosso Imola, alongside Verde Costiera, Verde Toscana and Verde Nürburgring. Those examples show breadth, but the article does not specify pink availability by model.
Ferrari has also brought back historic blues. In an April 23, 2024 announcement, Ferrari said Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino would return in its world, including on sports cars and in a special SF-24 livery for the Miami race. The company described them as “blues that reference Ferrari’s rich heritage and remain cherished by fans.”

Ferrari’s racing history is not all red
Non-red Ferraris have appeared in racing, but the contexts matter. Formula 1’s September 4, 2026 history says Ferrari’s works team last ran a fully non-red car in 1964, in blue and white. It also recounts Olivier Gendebien’s yellow private Ferrari entry at the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix and Ferrari-badged cars in British Racing green run by Vanwall in Formula Libre. These are different teams, entries and racing circumstances—not evidence of current factory road-car color availability.
