Harbor Freight does not publish a horsepower rating for its 212cc Predator GHOST kart-racing engine, so its actual stock horsepower is not established by the official specifications reviewed here. The company also does not officially call the Ghost a hemi. An independent teardown identifies its head as a Ducar hemi, but owner claims conflict.
How much horsepower does the Predator Ghost have?
Harbor Freight does not list an HP figure for the Predator GHOST, item 57531, on its product page or in its June 1, 2022 launch announcement. Those materials identify it as a 212cc kart-racing engine but do not provide a measured stock horsepower result. That means its real output cannot be determined from Harbor Freight’s published rating; it does not mean the engine produces zero power or that a particular informal estimate is verified.
Do not use the familiar 6.5 HP figure as the Ghost’s rating. Harbor Freight assigns that figure to a different product: the standard 212cc OHV horizontal-shaft engine, item 69730, in its separate specifications. The shared 212cc displacement does not establish that the two engines have the same horsepower.
The Ghost’s racing features also are not a horsepower measurement. Harbor Freight lists components including a dual ball-bearing racing crank, digital ignition, fire-ring head gasket, racing piston ring package and high-flow intake port. Its launch announcement says the D-shaped racing port lets more air move through the combustion chamber, but it does not quantify the resulting output with a dyno figure.

Is the Predator Ghost a hemi?
Harbor Freight does not identify the Ghost’s head as hemi or non-hemi in the official product materials cited here. A 2022 independent teardown by Kentucky Fried Fixes describes it as a Ducar hemi head, while an owner discussion on Reddit calls it non-hemi-style. The hemi label is therefore an attributed secondary identification, not a confirmed Harbor Freight specification.
If you are choosing aftermarket parts, verify the actual head and compatibility with your engine’s revision rather than relying on the informal hemi label. A name used in a teardown or owner discussion is not a substitute for checking fitment.

What distinguishes the Ghost from the regular Predator 212?
The Ghost is positioned by Harbor Freight as a competition kart engine; item 69730 is a general-purpose horizontal-shaft engine with a published 6.5 HP rating. The Ghost’s official HP rating is not stated. Compare intended use, published specifications and installed equipment instead of assuming the Ghost makes more power because it has racing-specific components.

What should you check before using or buying a Ghost?
- Required equipment: Harbor Freight says the Ghost requires intake and exhaust components available in a separate accessory kit. Its launch announcement described kit contents including an exhaust pipe, muffler, silencer and mounting hardware, air filter, fuel line, head gasket, fuel pump and more. Check the current kit contents and availability before purchase.
- Kart fitment: Harbor Freight says the engine drop fits major chassis brands, but confirm the mount pattern, shaft, intake and exhaust parts for your own kart.
- Competition rules: The product is labeled “Competition use only.” Check the rules that apply to your class and venue before installing or racing it.
- Rev limiter: Harbor Freight’s June 1, 2022 launch announcement states 6100 RPM, while its current engine category page lists 6000 RPM. Because the company’s published figures conflict, check the current manual or the engine itself rather than treating either number as uncontested.
