The Grumpy Bear Arctos Sport was reported in October 2025 to start at $12,000—but that price is for a 693-pound DIY shell, not a furnished camper ready for a trip. New Atlas reported a separate Standard package at $20,000 and 1,102 pounds. Those are dated report figures, not a current manufacturer quote.
What is the Arctos Sport?
The Arctos Sport is a hard-sided camper designed to sit in a pickup bed. Its compact, teardrop-like profile has sides that flare outward to create more interior room; New Atlas says the camper remains within the truck’s side mirrors. It is a pickup camper, not a teardrop trailer body placed in the bed.
The prices and specifications below were reported by C.C. Weiss for New Atlas on October 12, 2025. They are not an independent test or a current manufacturer specification sheet.

The figures show why the “starts at $12,000” wording needs context: the lower price buys the shell, while the reported Standard package costs $8,000 more and weighs 409 pounds more. The source does not establish current prices or availability.

How does the interior work?
In the Standard configuration described by New Atlas, the interior seating and table form a lounge or dinette that converts into a transverse double bed measuring 53 x 74 inches (135 x 188 cm). That length may be limiting for taller sleepers. The reported cabin height is approximately 6 feet 2.5 inches.

The reported 693-pound shell and 1,102-pound Standard package are not enough by themselves to establish whether the camper is suitable for a particular truck. Check the truck’s payload rating and account for the camper in its actual configuration, along with occupants, cargo and other carried equipment. The report provides no pickup-specific compatibility guidance or loaded weight after options.
